I have a Q*Bert game in Kaminari, it's a giant replica of the arcade cabinet - I have most of the basic scripting worked out, it's now frozen at the point of completing the overall game while I work on my game dev project. I'm not at my comp, may post a pic later.

Hmmm... I've been thinking... Wouldn't it be cool with a bit of stupidness to make a Katamari rpg or board game? The board game sounds more practical... I could imagine having people in a sim model their houses and put them on a board... then it could be randomly distributed and have a little ball move around a square at a time trying not to hit things... maybe use llGetOtherMass() or whatever it is to see if the thing being picked up is too heavy. Perhaps a scoring system telling size could be used to make decisions. Of course, just like the game, sizes wont be shown of other objects.

Oz Spade and I have been talking about making Battleship, but who knows if it'll actually happen.

* Magic: The Gathering - A true collectable card game within the SL framework would be challenging to incorporate but fun to play.

YES!!! :D (This would be so hard to do, but.. God, it'd be cool!!)

As backwards as this may sound. I'd love to play text adventures in SL.

For those of you familiar with those, I don't mean doing Zork in prims and scripts (though please please please do that someone!)

I mean a single prim that would listen to a single person's input and respond game text back to them. That way others could "watch" and make suggestions.

Since text adventures, particular those programmed in "Inform", can run in PHP and.. well frankly any language, I'm hoping it would be possible to make a link between SL and existing on-line text games.

A big Y E S here. I concur!

As far as tabletop style board games goes, I would also suggest Carcassonne.

I think this could be done fairly easily here; roleplaying it wouldn't require much 'suspension of belief'. *grin grin*
Make the outfits, have chummy missions to accomplish, etc. Those not familiar with it can just google Paranoia RPG - should do the job. Product of West End Games.

PARANOIA IS FUN. OTHER GAMES ARE NOT FUN. PLAY PARANOIA.

Citizen, your references to West End Games are currently obsolete. Please refer to the New! Improved! edition known as Paranoia XP, licenced through the original creators by Mongoose Publishing.

You're not the only one who's expressed interest in doing PARANOIA in SL...do a forum search. The tricky part is getting all the interested people in one place at the same time with enough time and motivation to work on it.

Text Adventures Games in SL

Is anyone familiar with "Dumb Frotz"?

It is a Frotz Interpreter, (which reads text adventure executables) which can take and send input anywhere. I'd hoped to adapt it to SL > Dumb Frots then DF to SL communication via an object.

Can anyone help with this? I'm willing to pay.

IM me in-game

Actually, I'm currently searching for some good text adventures to put together and give out as a pack.

ANY suggestions for titles necessary/welcome!

As a longtime fan of IF I can't help but recommend my personal faves -- most consider these classics:

A Mind Forever Voyaging (possibly best ever)
Enchanter
Beauracracy
Planetfall
Trinity

Few people like these as much as I do:

Shogun
Border Zone
gene Poole

Another method could be to set the text of a prim that floats nearby the game owner -- that would prevent the spam in the chat history.

I have to agree, I loved text adventures.... it would be cool to have a movie screen size prim and blinking prompt ...

Twisted Metal 2 (I know, u cant even drive down a damn road without having to relog or sinking into the asphalt but a guy can dream right. imagine a whole sim or more dedicated to vehicular combat)

Pitfall Sequel (original was great but would be boring)

Galaga

Old WWF Raw Video Game from sega genesis where u could knock the ref out and cheat

Dance Dance Revoloution

Pres W, A, S or D as they fly up a screen infront of your AV on a dance matt.

And your AV dances.

I saw THIS pic on Snapzilla not to long ago. It looks like a working DDR to me, but I've never seen it in VR-person.

There have been several renditions of DDR before... most of them not working.

Realistically though, a working DDR would not be hard to create. The catch would be finding some actual musical tracks to go with it, instead of random flying arrows.

I still think something like Resident Evil or Silent Hill would be great. Gun modellers and scripters are relatively easy to come by.. The hard part, i suppose, would be both building the avs/environments, then working out the monsters, in particular the issue of dealing damage.

I think the only hard part is making the monsters have the kind of visual fidelity that made Resident Evil or Silent Hill creepy. I mean prim monsters just don't have that kind of fidelity yet. Av's could... if only we had non player character Av prims that we could dress up and animate like any other Av we'd almost be there. I think that point goes for most RPG's/FPS, or any other game that requires NPCs.

Yep.. get a big ol sim, with some "marker" prims, alternate the ground every other meter so it's a big grid, add some roll-scritps on giant prim d20s and do some LARP to pass the free-actions... imagine the prim-armor :O

But yeah, I'm in a group that plays Shadowrun (occasionally) and we use mini-builds as maps and stuff ^.^

Good day, sirs. I type like a dolt, only because I am sleep-ish.
