Ben, I know this has been mentioned in this thread already, but it wasn't really answered by your post. How do you plan on addressing the fact that a game owner could pump tons of money in to his game knowing he'll get it back. Or for that matter having thier friends doing it and reimbursing them? Not saying anyone will do this, I know everyone in Second Life is honest and fair, but theoretically, it could happen, defeating the purpose of determining a truely popular game. Salem Penguin.

Nomination of Dark Life
02-05-2006 19:00
I put my vote emphatically in for DarkLife. The game rocks and it will only get better. And the players make the game the great experience it is. A great way to meet people, and kill mosquitoes and scorpions doing it!

I second (third. sixth, whatever) this nomination. Simple, yet quite complex and very fast!

Because we are getting records of how much and who, we can keep an eye out for obvious cheats - the game that is just a paybox in a field is in first place - and take care of them. It will be more difficult to catch the more canny cheater, who pays his pals to play his game. I'm not sure what the best solution to that problem is, beyond the simple incentive of money making. Sure, you can recycle your own money through 20 friends every day to make sure your game is the most popular - but really - it's for 1/4th of a sim. The $75/month land tier is something like L$700 a day - so 28 plays of a L$25 game. So if you spend your time making a game that is actually fun to play over and over, and you don't need to pay people to play it - you will probably make more than if you try and cheat the system. Of course, if you're not in it for the money - then why the heck are you cheating? If you are still concerned, I would love to hear some ideas on how we can curb that kind of cheating, without treating normal players like suspects. ben

And my third and final nomination goes to DarkLife by Mark Busch, Crash Prefect, and Pirate Cotton (who won't let me buy stock yet *lol*).
It's a bloody great game and there's not a lot I can say about it that hasn't been said yet. Well, ok, so there is, but I won't. ^_^
So my nominations stand as such: NeoRealms The Collective DarkLife

From: Metawraith Mistral I nominate Boogie Board, by Hox Hauptmann.
It's a relatively new game, 5x5 grid, increasing difficulty levels, make words to use up the required number of letters to progress to the next level.
Half of each pay to play payment goes towards the jackpot. Jackpot's payed out at midnight SLT. Thanx Meta.. Wow. I was slow to get to this thread. I just got told about it now. I picked a bad time to move in RL lol. ok As for Boogie: The game is a cross-breed between scrabble and boggle. You progress through levels by selecting letters to create words. Points are awarded for larger words. You can only use letters once. Each level requires more letters cleared to progress. It is a networked game, so everyone that plays competes for the best high score and the nightly progressive jackpot. Come by the BOOGIE BARGE and check it out. If you like word games you'll probably like BOOGIE. secondlife://Sutherland/187/145A Couple Pictures of The Game Below http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/AceMcTorn/Snapshot1_004.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/AceMcTorn/BoogieSnapshot_002.jpg

I am fairly new to SL. My first game in SL was BloxSL, it is fun to play. Since it relies heavily on SL physics, making it work must have been very challenging. Good job Moriz and team.

I'll vote for Boogie too, Hox has done a good job with this 5x5 variant on Boggle. Requires some thought and strategy if you want to do well with it. A good challenge for novice and experienced gamers alike.

Okay, we've settled on what game we will be making: LUTAMATES - A Collectable Managarie of Cute Critters Who Fight For YOU. They come from four sources: the Far Future, the Primitive Past, a Fantastical Realm, and Alien Worlds. They are aided in their combat by items you collect: Futuristic Gizmos, Primative Tools, Fantasy Powers, and Alien Artifacts. The creatures will come from the hands and skill of Arito Cotton, the Master of Cute. You WILL want them all! This is a NEW game, so there is no established player-base to vote for it. If it sounds interesting to you, please think of us for one of your votes (you get three). If you've seen Arito's work in the form of so many of the animal avatars out there, you know the quality he will bring to this game! LUTAMATES

A VERY addicting word game that is something like boggle. make words whose letters are ajacent to each other. Bigger words higher scores. Use letters only once as they are taken off the board when Enter is clicked on. You cannot jump over unused letters or blank spots to make words.

I would like to nominate Combat Cards, by Doc Boffin. I would also nominate Numbakulla and DarkLife but the rules, as I understand them, won't allow for that since these adventure games take up way more than 1/4 of a sim. (Fine work, nonetheless.) My other two nominations, then, are Holoball and Settlers of SL. I can't wait to take a look at this game called "The Collective" Looks cool but haven't heard of it until now. Cheers.
