Is there a List of known/found bugs?

If not, we should start one here!

Post bugs that you find so that others can keep up with them and/or test them themselves...

From: Shiny updating not working for other users

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Two people required:
1st person, rezes a cube, sets it shiny, 2nd person will NOT see the cube become
shiny, but the 1st person will.

Observed results:
2nd person will NOT see shiny, but the person whos cube it is (1st person) WILL
see it turn shiny.

Expected results:
All people around should see live changes to a prim becoming shiny.

What does work:
Rez a cube, make it shiny, take to inventory, re-rez it, all users will see
shiny then.

From: Mouse clicking while editing attachments unfreezes avatar

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Attach a prim, right click and edit it, your avatar freezes as it should, Click
the GUI anywhere, or alt+zoom, or anything, and your avatar will unfreeze.

Observed results:
Avatar unfreezes when editing attachments and clicking or anything.

Expected results:
Avatar should stay frozen while editing an attached prim.

From: 3 Map bugs

1) Region/Sim names do not show up untill you zoom in close.

2) Tooltip for sims do NOT show how many agents are in the sim. This is annoying
because this was VERY usefull, please put this back in. Tooltip when hovering
over sims should show name of sim, rating, and how many users are in the sim.

3) Green dots don't update as much as they used to, making it hard to see just
what is going on dynamicly with them.

From: No video menu

(NOTE: This could be script related with updating the URL, I'm not sure I didn't test extensively)
Steps to reproduce the bug:
Turn on Video on a parcel that has it enabled.

Observed results:
No Play/Pause or Stop menu is given.

Expected results:
A play/pause stop menu should be given at the bottom of the screen for videos.

From: IM Bug: Auto-pop up and IM Recieved button not going away on focus

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Be doing something else, have someone IM you, it auto pops up (PLEASE make this
an option), when you set focus to it, the IM Recieved button, does NOT go away.
Untill you click it or hit Ctrl+T twice (once to hide, once to show window).

Observed results:
IM Recieved button does not go away when IM window auto-pops up and gets focus.

Expected results:
IM Recieved button should go away when IM window gets focus. And please add an
option to turn off auto-Im pop up.

From: Telehub Coverage on World Map shows HUD outline

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Attach a HUD, open the World Map, click Show Telehub Coverage. Position it over
where your HUD is, see the outline of the HUD. In the screenshot, see Georgean
on the map("You" is in it), see the odd shape? That's my HUD.

Observed results:
HUD sillouhete(sp) shows through Map when Show Telehub Coverage is on.

Expected results:
Should not show through Map when Telehub Coverage is on.

From: HUD Bug: Ctrl-Alt-T does not show transparent HUDs

Steps to reproduce the bug:
In the screenshot you can see I have Highlight Transparent on, but I also have a
HUD with a 100% alpha face, it is not highlighted. So... Attack a HUD, set one
side (or the whole HUD) as 100% transparent, or Alpha'd via Edit menu.

Observed results:
Alphad/transparent HUDs are not highlighted.

Expected results:
They should be Highlighted. While I can see the niceness of NOT having them
highlighted, also Imagine someone putting an invisible hud that does something
lethal, or losing HUDs that go invisible and not being able to edit them. So IMO
it'd be more usefull to have them highlight when Transparent is on.

From: 100% Alpha HUDs steal clicks

(NOTE: This bug applies to ALL prims not just HUDs)
Steps to reproduce the bug:
Attach a HUD, in it, have a script that does touch_start (default script should
do it), have one face or the whole HUD be 100% alpha (using a texture), click
it.

Observed results:
The HUD object ACCEPTS the clicks, not PASSING them even with 100% alpha'd
textures.

Expected results:
100% alpha'd texture faces should NOT be touchable even when a touch event is in
the script.

From: HUD Bug: TargetOmega breaks after Editing prim

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Make a prim with a llTargetOmega script. Attach as a HUD. Notice it will be
spinning (yay!), however when you right click it to Edit it, it breaks the
spinning and you have to Reset the script to enable llTargetOmega again.

From: When detaching IM, can not chat in world if Return Closes Chat is on

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Open an IM, click the new "Tear off as seperate window" button, try and chat in
public (with "Chat closes on return" option in Chat preferences enabled).

Observed results:
You can not chat in public untill you attach "Torn" IM window back to main IM
window.

Expected results:
Should be able to click outside of the IM window and chat in public like you do
normaly.

Short One line bugs:

- Shiny and particles doesn't work on HUDs

- No Clothing window option in View (should be one, so you can get to it if you close your Toolbar)

- Right clicking an avatar to get pie menu puts you into an "Edit" mode with particles and arm going above their head.

- In the "View" menu it shows "Mini-Map" instead of Radar (I think Radar is a stupid name BTW, Mini-Map makes more sense).

Fantabulous of you to take the initiative, Oz!

Most of what I've sent in so far have been UI suggestions, the sort of stuff that might fall between the cracks unless actively voiced up. The stuff that grates and annoys over the longterm. Some of your bugs are the same ones I've experienced too, in particular the IM window glitches.

This is my list of observations.

You can always have a good laugh at this:

From: Tabs for multiple Inventory Item Properties are big and ugly

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Right-click multiple Inventory items, go into Properties.

Observed results:
Look at the tabs, they're not very useful because THEY ARE SO BIG AND UGLY. Heinous d00d. And what's more, the Inventory Item Properties window can't be enlarged! AWWWFUL. :(

Expected results:
At least make the Inventory Items Properties resizeable or make the tabs shorter with abbreviations, since we already know it says "Inventory Item Properties" in the main panel! Gah!

I'm hoping it'll be helpfull Torley so you don't have 500 threads about each and every bug.

From: Dominus Skye

Bug: Cannot delete items rezzed in-world.

Right clicking an item rezzed in-world, and selecting 'more' from the pie menu displays the 'delete' option greyed out for items rezzed in-world. You can 'take' items but not delete them. This includes items rezzed from existing inventory, or new items created in preview. The 'del' key will not delete selected items inworld either.

Taken from /142/2b/59858/1.html

From: Map: Downed sims not showing up correctly

When a sim goes down it seems to still show on the map, sometimes they'll go
"blue" if you zoom out, but when you zoom in, they'll appear normaly. However
the only difference is that all the green dots are in the center and stacked.

Also interesting things with that bug ^:

- Turning on "Show Telehub Coverage" will cover most downed sims in full colors, where as up sims will be in a transparent color.

- Stacks of green dots (or one green dot) can be seen in the middle of the downed sims.

---
And another one liner:

- Noticed on the World Map that the Terrain tab has Buildings and Objects in the
Legend.

There are actualy a few weird artifacts with the world map, like I had an extra white square under Buildings in the Objects tab. Also I'm not sure how New Objects show on the new map. :(

I'd love to hunt down code bugs, but I'm looking a real showstopper square in the face. I can't login to Siva at _all_. Every single time it tells me my password is no good.

It ain't the way I'm typing in the password, although that's the very first thing everyone keeps trying to tell me. I'm one of those guys who has access so many places I have a special utility just to keep *track* of all the darn things. My keyboard has a numlock key that turns several letter keys into number keys, so I'm pretty particular about the status of both capslock and numlock.

It ain't the Windows firewall. On a guess I just turned that right the heck off. No change. It definitely can't be the Linux firewall. (Don't make me tell you to Google my primary 'nym for an example of why.)

It doesn't appear to be a fouled install, since I actually uninstalled Siva, yanked out the directory, redownloaded the client and reinstalled it.

The only thing I can think it might be is that when it's detecting a saved password from the non-Siva client, it's somehow mucking it up and ignoring whatever you type in. Actually, I should try unsaving the password in non-Siva and seeing if that does it, but I've done so many things I may have already tried that and just can't remember for sure. It seems a pretty obscure thing to go wrong. (A failed login with saving unchecked in Siva doesn't seem to affect the 1.6 client settings at all, not even when I deliberately fouled the password for Siva I was able to go right back to 1.6 and login without retyping in the password.)

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe 1.7 has something against six-character passwords specifically, but I think someone can probably discount that in a hurry.

Any ideas at this point would be welcome.

Actually, the mangling of cached passwords can be crossed off the list now. I just removed the cached password from the 1.6 client, logged in and out, and then went to the 1.7 client, typed in the very same password--still can't login. Very bizarre.

I'd love to hunt down code bugs, but I'm looking a real showstopper square in the face. I can't login to Siva at _all_.

Same here, although my problem is not password related. Every time I've tried to log in, it either tells me immediately that the sim is going down and then it kicks me out, or else it just crashes out entirely without showing me anything beyond the pre-cashing meter. The only exception to this was the very first time I tried, in which I got about 60 seconds or so of actual playability before I got the sim-going-down thing. Every attempt since has failed instantly.

The time that I was in, I did immediately notice a bug. I'm not sure if it can be reproduced since I can't get in to test it, but here it is anyway. If it turns out not to be reproduceable, then I guess that will be evident soone enough. I'd rather list it than not though.

From: Chosen Few
Bug: IM Window Resizes to Width of Name Tabs
Steps to Reproduce the Bug:
Receive multiple IM's from several users. Close at least one of them. The window will resize to the width of the remaining list of tabs. Attempt to manually resize the window back to normal, and it will instantly resize itself back to the width of the tabs.

Observed Results:
User has no direct control over the size of the IM window. Its size is dictated by the combined width of the tabs showing the names of people currently in IM contact.

Expected Results:
The IM window should become and remain at whatever size the user sets it at, just like every other window on a computer. It should only change sizes when and if the user decides to change it, again just like every other window on a computer.

And for good measure, here's this one, although I obviously have no way of knowing if this is affecting anyone but me:
From: Chosen Few
Bug: Client Crashes Upon Logging In
Steps to Reproduce the Bug:
Attempt to Log into Second Life Siva. One of the following will happen:
- The login sequence will complete, and the world will initialize, but only for a few seconds before the "simulator is going down" dialog appears, the screen goes gray, and the user is given the choice to continue to observe chat or quit.
--OR--
- A few seconds after clicking on "Connect" the client simply closes to reveal the computer desktop, or at least it appears to. Sometimes the inworld wind noise stays audible on the speakers indefinitely until a full system restart, and most of the time SecondLife.exe displays as a currently running process in Task Manager, despite the fact that the Second Life client can't be seen on the screen, isn't named on the taskbar, and isn't listed on the applications tab in Task Manager.

Observed Behavior:
Second Life Siva crashes instantly upon login.

Expected Behavior:
Second Life Siva runs normally.

Simple line of sight in regards to the polarized reaction of the IM window leads me to believe that it acts like a tabbed web browser in its functionality. Taking something like Maxthon as my example, tabs are customizable in terms of width (there could be a setting in pixels for this with a slider) and I can also CLOSE a tab with a double-click or middle mouse button ~click~, user-configurable.

Having these options added to IM seems extremely useable and makes sense, given how minimal the IM section in Preferences is.

I'll be reporting some related things next time I catch 'em.

From: SL Silva Will Not Stay Windowed
Well, its all in the title really, the client does not stay windowed after logging out and back in (for me anyway).

And...

From: MISSING IMAGE Replaces Sky Upon Pressing Alt + Enter From Fullscreen
When pressing Alt + Enter from fullscreen mode, the sky disappears and is replaced by vertical text saying: 'MISSING IMAGE' for about 10-13 seconds.

Hey guys, how would you feel about posting your bug report #s along with the text? It might make it easier to refer to... like I say "O hey, I experienced Nathan Stewart's #58382 too!" and then go on to describe more.

It also might help Lindens reading this thread... just an idea. :)

Copying and pasting using the edit menu seems to be broken.

If you changed your password in the intermin it'll no longer work. Use your oldpass for the Preview logins, that's helped me and several others.

Roberta, I think Regioncrossing in general seems borked. I'll need more conclusive info too!

Semi frozen in a way, the asset server and authentication was duplicated off the original on a set date, therefore what you make wont be reflected in the main grid same as what you spend, the same goes for authentication, 1.7 is its own little world lol

Miscmisc... more to come later. Some of these suggestions are troublesome enough for me to recommend they be fixed for a smoother ride in the long run.

[SUGGESTION] Z-coordinates next to Region in menu bar rt.lindenlab.com #111948
From: someone
I have a simple suggestion that might be really useful! It's cool how X and Y are now put after the Region in menu bar, for example:

Rizal 90, 171

However, what about including the Z-coord too? So it could say:

Rizal 90, 171, 74

Where I am currently am. It'd clue in lots of new Residents who haven't yet got scripted attachments, and save them a trip to the little-known readout in About Second Life too!

What a boon, huh? Please think about it... thanxies! :)

[SUGGESTIONS] A few more UI suggestions for ease of use rt.lindenlab.com #111953
From: someone
Here are sum more cominatcha! Thanx for reading :)

1) In Account History, please make the font bigger or use a clearer monospace one. It's so scrunchy and small and even the default window size is big enough to accomodate a larger one.

2) "Print Online Notifications" is confusing terminology and has been around awhile. I've heard the question asked a lot about how to "turn off those things that appear when someone logs on". Well, "Show Online Notifications" would make that clearer. :)

3) It's now nice to have IM tabs big enough to show people's long names, but I can see this being a major pain scrolling left and right if I have a dozen or people IMing me (yes, it does happen). Rather, I'd prefer to have at least a choice of EXTRA rows of tabs appearing under the first row when it's scrunched up. In my usability tests scrolling left<--->right through many tabs uses so much clicking. :(

Drag-and-dropping multiple items to prim surface is odd rt.lindenlab.com #111957
From: someone
Steps to reproduce the bug:
Right-click on ground and Create a new prim. Multi-select a texture (preferably full-perms) and one notecard in inventory. Drag to a prim face as if to texture that surface. Test this with different notecards and textures.

Observed results:
Face of plywood cube will be borked, sometimes showing "MISSING IMAGE" or a smoky unloaded gray and -- even if just one texture and a notecard is selected -- the texture will not apply.

Expected results:
If anything, the notecard should be dropped properly inside the Contents of the object and the face should be textured with the texture I dropped!

Picture shows it all.

Here's a bit of an obscure one and one that is a bug that led to my unexpected joy of MULTIPLE UNDOS WORKING!??

Multi-select drag with both Open and Contents is unreliable rt.lindenlab.com #111961
From: someone
Steps to reproduce the bug:
Create a new prim. Right-click on it and select Edit so that Contents tab it showing. Also right-click and select Open. I know this sounds redundant but it's still irksome. Then, multi-select a whole list of stuff and drag-and-drop it into either the Contents folder in the Contents tab panel or the Object Contents window.

Observed results:
BOTH are showing the same thing so BOTH should be synced at the same time when items are dropped in.

Expected results:
Currently, this works very unreliably for me -- I'll often see my schtuff in one window but not the other (and not necessarily the one I dragged into), sometimes both. Deleting items has the same effect -- deleting in one won't necessarily show an update in the other.

UNDO is broken, see within for details rt.lindenlab.com #111964
From: someone
Steps to reproduce the bug:
Select a prim, any prim. Move it. Then, go to the Edit menu and...

Observed results:
Uhoh! Undo is grayed out! Whatcha gonna do now? Well, clumsy workaround in the meantime: unselect prim, select it again, and then look at the Edit menu.

Expected results:
Undo should be available at all appropriate times without having to do this kludge. ^_^

ON THE NICE SIDE IT SEEMS LIKE THESE ARE MULTIPLE UNDOS/REDOS... IF SO WOOT! THX!!!
