From: Ulrika Zugzwang In the mood for some drama with a dash of irony? Look no further. I, Ulrika Zugzwang, have been declared a terrorist by the government of Neualtenburg (which I cofounded several years ago) and have been banned from the sim. The official declaration of terrorism and illegal banning performed by the government officials can be found in this thread. It's a great read for those who enjoy my dance-around-merrily-and-then-whack-judo-chop style of posting as well as for those who like watching a political experiment descend into fascism. For the rest of you, there's pie. Enjoy. ~Ulrika~ Stalin has ousted Trotsky again. History Repeats Itself, eh Comrades?

I arrived with only seconds to spare, because somebody had set a bomb at the Linden Bear Museum! This was the ugly result:

From: Ulrika Zugzwang I agree. Instead, I used it to represent an authoritarian government with intolerant views or practices. I define your preemptive act of banning me from the sim without cause (and without formalized legal authority) to be both authoritarian and intolerant. Further, I find labeling dissenters as "terrorists" equally as authoritarian and intolerant.
You need to be open to dialog with those who have dissenting views in your forum, otherwise it's just groupthink.
~Ulrika~ But Ulrika, you don't support direct democracy. Thats undemocratic. George W Bush WOULD probably classify your beloved country of N'burg a terroristic regime. Fortunately, some of the newer officers of the goverment are taking steps to move towards democracy. For whatever reason, you oppose these. ????

I feel vaguely sorry and sad for all people involved, but this is some pretty interesting drama for anyone who has even loosely followed along with the whole Neualtenberg thing. In fact, I just spent about five minutes giving my husband the Cliff Notes version of what's going on, to try and help him understand why, when he asked what news I'd heard about today, I said there was trouble right there in Neualtenberg City. His response? "Even Napoleon was finally kicked out of France." (This pie is excellent! My compliments to the chef. )

I'm sure Ulrika has much affection for the memory of her project, but this right here is exactly why I never want to worry about the contrivance of government within SL. A bunch of group masturbation that ends up being used to control other people. I can live without it here.
Good to see you back among us, though, Ulrika. Don't keep a-lurkin' too long.

Tell that to Kevn Kline.

From: Aaron Levy Ulrika, did you get permission from your family to return to the forums? Ha ha. Yes, I have in fact negotiated a temporary return. There's something that's really been bothering me for the past few months that I came back to take care of. You're seeing the first part. The next is coming shortly. Afterwards I hope to be able to return to my hiatus with peace of mind. ~Ulrika~

From: Phoenix Psaltery Using the buzzword "terrorist" to describe Ulrika is utter bullshit. You just have to live with it. Terrorist has become a buzzword of today's world. Are you swapping music on P2P networks? You're a terrorist! Do you dare watch your DVD on Linux using a hacked together player? You're a terrorist. Do you think the UK shouldn't track every vehicle movement? You're a terrorist. Would you like to watch the DVD's you bought with your money from overseas in your region-resticted player? You're a terrorist. Easy.

If they want to ban you, just make an alt and give it mod rights.. (second instance of sl) and then use the alt to remove everything you built drom Nburg.. If they don't want you why would they want your work, right?

From: Ulrika Zugzwang Torley. God love ya' but your moderation leaves much to be desired. ~Ulrika~ How is an announcement of a squabble over an individual being kicked from a sim not a notice?

From: Taco Rubio How is an announcement of a squabble over an individual being kicked from a sim not a notice? The thread is a discussion about one being declared a terrorist by an SL government rather than a notice about that declaration. ~Ulrika~

From: Taco Rubio No, Ulrika, God Love ya' but it's a "look at this over here" thread. You should use the "no ... rather" construction, when negating and correcting a statement. In regards to the current topic, if the thread exists solely as an expositional on said topic, here it belongs. If it instead exists as a discussion of said topic, it belongs where it started, which it is and does. ~Ulrika~

If they don't want you why would they want your work, right? Squabbles are one thing. Deleting builds - well, I wouldn't even expect that kind of behaviour on the teen grid. No doubt it happens, but gah, is there anything much more childish? Honest question. There are a hundred thousand stories on the main grid, and this is has just been one of them. The unfortunate fact of this particular one is that it has been made relatively public. I hope for a speedy resolution and a Brady Bunch ending for all concerned. Or even a Scooby Doo ending, at this point.
