Why can't everyone just get the sellers to agree on a certain rate. A good 100L/$1 sounds nice and clean to me

I've read so many posts on this now my eyes are glazed over :-\
The best way for LL to fix the price of the linden, and still make a profit (Dunno if anyone has said this) is to accept tier payments in lindens. They destroy what ever percentage, and put the remaining linden for sale back into the market at a price that will get them the US$ to cover the cost of the tier payment, thus eliminating an excess flow of linden in the market. I'm sure doing it this way would be the best way to neutralize the inflow of new linden due to stipends and dwell bonuses, while keeping it all and not causing a portion of the population to leave. I'm sure even people like Anshe would love to pay their tier with Lindens rather then flooding the market.....unless she really is just devising schemes to take over LL |

You know, I recall something mentioned by LL before. About... what was it called? Market confidence? Something along those lines. And honestly, they were right. It's not the buyers that set the L$ price, it's the sellers. If you think it will sell for more, put it up for more. If everyone puts up their L$ for more USD, the price will rise. People have to have confidence that their L$ will sell at a higher price. It's the sellers who think it won't sell that keep dropping the value of the L$.

Finally someone understands about the sellers! lets go people, everyone sell at 250/1US$ and lets drop to the target in a week!then if we can al maintain a bit of patince (Wich no one seems to have) we will all get what we want for our money. |

I suggested that while back, but then had someone say they needed to sell the L right away to pay tier, then another person said that even if it's done that way there will still be a flood of L$ on the market that will take forever to buy up. So, the one way I can think of to quickly resolve those two problems is for LL to accept payments in L, destroy a big enough % of them that they can sell the remainder at a low enough price that they still make their money, cut the number of L$ in circulation, and stabalize the cost of the L$. After reading all the differen't suggestions and thoughts, no one wanting to have their L$ taken away, their dwell bonuses and everything else, this is the only way I can see them fixing the problem without upsetting half the population.

Wrong. The sellers get what they want... the buyers don't. Only a tiny % of the playerbase are advantaged when the rate drops. Nobody's forcing you to sell, so don't be greedy, hang on to your cash in game and do something useful with it instead. Lewis _____________________

I think it's pretty obvious that the majority of people buying/selling lindens don't run a business in SL and just want to sell their Lindens as fast as possible and thus most of the new sellers put their Linden at less than what some people would want who are trying to make a business in the game. Simply put until you can convince the casual seller (I'm sure that more people sell casually than business people do, although I don't have any hard evidence on that) to sell at a rate that won't hurt the economy in the long run. Oh lord this place is starting to look like the World of Warcraft boards. Casual and Hardcore BAH, its great some people are making money in game. Though I don't think it should be a reliable source of income. I mean do you really want to have to state your cashed out US$ on your taxes? Technically SL is a hobby right? Ugh taxes I gotta send mine out! *Cries!* |
