your categories are way too broad, poorly designed, and your response to ingrid was bordering on ridiculous. Ingrid, if anything would go in the "professional" category since it's not like she works the shop floor at GAP for christs sake.

IT/etc can include everyone from a CEO to a customer support rep working for Verizon. It includes 2D game designers, C++ programmers, PR/marketing executives who can't program a "hello world" to save their lives (not all... I'm just making examples), and administrative assistants.

In most other job sites I've surfed, Marketing often gets lumped in with Arts/Design/Advertising.

How come there's no category for business owners or for sales people? The closest thing you've got to sales is you've lumped retail in with "low wage". I know some retail sales people who make more in a week than you probably do in a year. I've owned a sales & marketing business for 11 years now.

I'm also an artist and a musician, so I suppose I could have picked that category, but that's only half the story.

Recently I've also begun work to start new graphic design/animation/production company. If it takes off, I'll probably put my original business on the back burner for a while.

Once again, you really should have a business owner category.

Ingrid, who markets stuff, goes in Professional? Huh? No, she goes in retail. Retail/services/part-time/low-wage. Even if her wage is high. She is not in one of the classic "professions" requiring years of training, like doctor/lawyer/teacher/engineer.

IT/telecom/Internet is particularly designed to capture many levels of people, but make it clear that the results of this poll, which shows they are in the majority, reflects the technical expertise of most players in the game who also post on the forum, and makes it clear that they belong to the geek/technocratia/tekkie type of culture.
