Amazing to me how many "prudes" there are on SL - proselytizing and preaching to us all about "family values" and moralities that might have nothing to do with MY cultural or morality values; after all, this IS a global community. They will want to censor art in SL next - and I am very worried about that. Will we be allowed to have bare-naked women and men on our walls?? Oh and I agree with one comment - it is always a SMALL group of people who haunt these forums who are actively involved in "cleaning up" SL.
Yeah, I know, I promised NEVER to be on chat again - I just get so riled up with this censorship of stuff in SL. Some stuff I agree with - but censorship has NO boundaries.

In my day, you'd meet strangers in bars, get enough of a beer buzz so that they don't seem scary, have sex in the car because either he lives with his parents or has a wife he didn't mention, and you don't what him to know where you live, and then worry for the next month about what diseases you might have acquired.

Depending which way you look at it, you could just as easily say things have gotten worse in SL generally because of the prevalence of SL sex more than it was 2 years ago. I blame a lot of this on the open verification. If people knew they could actually be traced and identified, it might make them just that little bit nervous enough not to get involved in some of the strange goings on in Second Life. The majority of the people who posted in your poll thread said this exact thing, but you took it as personal attacks. But since you brought it up, how many times a day must a person engage in SL sex to be a SL sex addict? I voted no ban in this thread and SL sex addict in the other. There are weeks that can go by without any actual SL sex action though (which isn't the same as saying that I otherwise do not think about or engage in some activity related to a sex addict). _____________________

Is stealing a car, boat, or treasure chest in a video game wrong? Do we consider it just another kind of theft? Of course not. Is an interactive cartoon of two images knocking boots in a video game wrong? Do we consider it just another kind of sex? Again, the answer is No. When the guns really hurt someone for real, when the theft takes something valuable for real, and when the sex has two physical bodies touching for real, then and only then can you consider it a real matter that needs to be addressed. Until then, this is just a cartoon folks, and we adults no more need guidance about how to enjoy our cartoons than we need people telling us what episodes of Tom and Jerry are too violent to be allowed to watch anymore. |

i voted no..instead they should ban the people sneaking in underaged to the adult areas..that is who the media is so called concerned with..pfft they could give two rats testies about children really..if the media saw a child laying on the road dying they would run get thier camera set up make sure the lighting was right and then bring in thier top reporter to show them saving the child..
they love ratings and nomatter how they get them.. i remember back around 1990 watching an Oprah show..this was back in her man bashing days.. she had brought a girl that was only like 15 years old on to the show that had been kidnapped and beaten and raped and then had acid thrown on her face..Oprah went over the details she had been told which reminded the girl of the terror she had been through..the girl got so choked up..she was very deformed from the acid already and was very shy to go into public because of her looks and the trama..well Oprah ask's her to talk about it and the girl goes into tears to the point she cannot talk anymore..all Oprah did was turn to the audience start to rub a finger in her eye then looks at her finger after rubbing it and softly says..just great *BIG SIGH!!*we fly this girl all the way out here and she is not gonna talk about it now?? Well our next guest!!! sorry for the rambling but i just wanted to show even one of the most loved media woman does not have a heart of gold but a ratings she was more worried about at the time before she was sooo wealthy and using her media for her own personel agenda ..i just remember every show being about something to do with men doing this to women and men doing that to women.. they use things to jerk the heart strings of the majority..the media could care less if you lived or died..they just want the footage.. SL is just in thier path right now.. |
