Listed twice?

And how about fixing a bug I found back late 1.9.x (like 1.9.9 or 1.9.10) that forces an object rezed inworld when taken into inventory to have NO "next owner" permissions.

Listed twice problem is now fixed.
The next owner problem is not in my list - if you want it included, please provide URLs to forum topics (and preferably secondlife.com/vote proposals) about it.

thats a huge list and Im too lazy to read them all, but I like the idea of restricting chat and similar to the property lines.. maybe in a checkable option. I like the idea of privacy walls that can't be camera'd into. I hate the new higher restrictions because it makes flying a pain and Im always bouncing into them because I don't see them until they are right there.. maybe shade them in red or make the text bigger... as ugly as that would be.

There are a lot of feature suggestions not in this list, including some that have gotten plenty of votes in the voting system or lots of discussion in the forums. How did you pick this particular list?

I used several methods :
1) I looked for things that would solve many problems at once. For example, having a fine-grained permissions system of relationships in place of the current 'friends' system would solve a LOT of problems, ranging from how property is managed, to letting people appear offline to those they don't want to see them, to stopping people TPing to you without permission. The suggestions about push, for example, would both seriously hurt griefers by stopping their weapons working in many places, whilst also at the same time still allowing landowners to use elevators etc, and avatars to control their vulnurability to push.

2) I looked for things that don't cause undeserved harm. For example, raising the ban lines (NOT THE ACCESS LINES) to infinite height doesn't harm anyone undeserving - it only harms people who have made themselves unwelcome in another's home. Another example - limiting push in the way I proposed because all it effectively does is enforce consent of the "you can't push me unless you own the land I'm standing on, or I give you my consent" type.

3) I looked for things that were simple, or easy to implement, and had obvious benefits. Like linking the secondlife.com/status page to secondlife.com/vote - obvious benefits and mininimal work.

4) I looked for things that give residents more control over their environment, and thus, empower them, rather then taking power away from them. I aim to make sure my ideas give residents *more* control over their own property, and thus enable them to have the SL they wish so long as they do not harm others.

5) I prioritised functional changes over cosmetic changes, and changes which make the impossible possible over those which make the possible convenient. In short : I give priority to letting people do what was previously impossible rather then making what is currently difficult easier, because there is greater gain in making good things which are currently impossible doable, then there is in making things which can already be done easier to do.
A good example is this proposal to allow people to buy items as gifts for other residents. I don't let this proposal make my list because it is essentially a convenience - you can always just give someone the money and a landmark to the store. I also think there is a lot to be said for giving people the money and letting *them* choose rather then possibly wasting your money buying them something they don't like.

6) I have to understand the idea. There are quite a few ideas to do with the technical aspects of SL that I don't understand. Many of them are very good, too. But I can't recommend them because I don't want to commit myself to proposals I don't understand.
I prefer to pick proposals which are as clearly defined as possible.... preferably those which have long discussion topics in the forums.

Those are the way I pick the ideas that make the list. They're not perfect, but they're aimed at solving problems as efficiently as possible, and doing so by empowering residents to control their own SL experience.

topic 116713 (this topic)
and
topic 112690

are very similar. I'm merging them both into topic 112690 - to keep the discussion somewhat more managable.

Lindens, feel free to close this topic.

Fair enough. Following your criteria, I'd like to suggest that you add this one:

Prop: 203 - Support local devices beyond mouse and keyboard

1 - It would solve many problems at once, by allowing a wide expansion of ways of getting input into SL. It is intended to be flexible and generic, rather than for a specific single alternate controller.

2 - I don't see how it could harm anyone, as it's an alternate method of providing input to existing functionality. Permissions would be controlled through each user's local client, most likely.

3 - Several people have proposed straightforward ways of implementing it using known standards. It would also leverage the abilities of the community of residents by letting residents help create the interfaces for the different devices, minimizing the extra work required by LL.

4 - It would give residents more control over their environments by giving them more ways to exercise that control.

5 - It is functional, rather than cosmetic (unlike my beloved capes/cloaks/et al)

6 - I'd be happy to help explain the idea at whatever level of detail you like.

I hope this helps,

neko

I've added it, but bear in mind I'm moving all this discussion from here to this topic now.
