LOL! Well, I personally enjoy your posts on these forums Ellie. Not everyone has an issue with long posts. Especially those that actually have meat to them. I don't have anything against those who don't like long posts. But I think most would agree it is the quality and not the quantity (of any size) that matters. I miss Kathy Yamamoto and her posts more than you would imagine!

Because it was. You know it, I know it, and everybody else knows it.

I get tired of this business of obviously talking about people, then denying it - or, in the case, not really denying it, but pointing out that you actually didn't use the name.

Actually, I was making general statements that many of us in the forums are guilty of. Going off on tangents because we think we're right. Attributing any dissenting opinions to the blindness of our fellow posters. Letting our own emotions blind us to logic when we're presented with it. Letting those same emotions force us to post like teenagers. (And no, you aren't the only person on the forums who resorts to all caps, though often times they are Reduced To Posts That Look Like This because they just use Caps Lock.)

Your response to my post is the perfect illustration of what I was talking about. I'll pay you your L$100 when I get in world.

I thought it was a damn good point. I didn't see Jon's post directed at anyone in particular, but to the forum in general. To me it is simply that what she stated are some good "forum etiquite(sp)" rules to follow that we can do ourselves. I personally agree with her.

I would point out, regarding your original post, that assuming that ANYTHING that ANYONE says on these forums is, has to be, and simply MUST be a vew shared by no one else, is already in error.

Having six people always get together and talk about what is personally wrong with the (whoever it is) they disagree with, as if the entire world agreed, is awfully annoying.

Look at it this way: I posted about the business contracts. Two-thirds of the respondants felt there was no need to open up the process to everyone, but preferred that it be kept to simply the Lindens recommending who they already knew about.

According to those six, twelve, forty or however many people who replied to say as much, I was the only one in the world who could possibly hold such a twisted view, and I should have shut up long ago. Nonetheless, a third of respondants agreed with my view. Moreover, the Lindens apparently agreed with it, as they announced the web site we could all send portfolios to if we wished. Could well be they had intended to do this all along, but in any case, they, too, considered it a good - and need I emphasize this? - reasonable - idea.

Shutting me up on these unpopular views, which apparently some here think are always and only held by myself alone (judged so, apparently by the six or forty people who hop in to say whatever it was was a terrible idea), would mean you would never really learn how many actually agree, or whether the Lindens might actually agree.

This same process applies to everyone stating any views, however unpopular they may seem. If everyone piped down just because the same six or twenty people asserted their views to be garbage, then where would we be?

As for myself, this forums business can easily eat up a whole day, particularly since when one person says something, another responds, the first person responds back, etc., and there we go, and whole hours of our lives get eaten up. Therefore I'm going to a new plan, whereby I spend only a set portion of my day responding to the forums.

That will take some willpower, but it will be good for me, and for everyone else as well. It is not the same as shutting me up, mind. It's more like when I had game shows every Tuesday and Thursday night in AV. So from now on, I will check and respond to the forums ONLY after I have logged off for the game for the night.

It will kill me! Yes it will! But I will make it happen, and I know everyone else will appreciate it as much as my real life will.

Leaders and commentators in western countries used to complain about the lack of a "Third Force" among developing world nations. Politics was divided between the extremes of socialist totalitarianism on the one side, and fascist or militarist totalitarianism on the other side. The "Third Force" - moderate, tolerant, generally reasonable democrats - were nowhere to be found, because the extremes with their harsh and often violent ways had squeezed them out, forced them into exile, or killed them. So in many countries in the sixties through the early nineties, there was nothing much to work with.

But I forget: There are no politics in SL, and nobody wants any.

That doesn't just apply to you. I personally tend to post like a pontificating prick quite often, but people forgive me, see - and I'm grateful.

We can stop all this two ways. We all stop taking offence, or we all stop being insulting. Either will work on its own if we could stick to it. Lack of one would wither the other. The "being insulting" one ain't working. What say we try the "taking offence" one? Might be easier. Kill one, watch the other slowly die. That'd do it.

I realy want to know why these folks are allowed to continue to break the fourm rules. More so can I too? Cus right now I would realy like to tell a few of these ppl somethings that will make their hair stand on end.
