Poll: Forum Profanity Filters?

I simply loved the Irish Barkeep's favorite expletive in The Boondock Saints. "FUCKASS!"

Honestly "*****" works just fine for me I understand the need to cus, I just don't wish to read so much of it.

Well having a filter OPTION really doesn't sound like such a terrible idea. I think the decision to implement such a thing should be determined more by the amount of effort it would require vs. how many people actually wanted the feature rather than any sort of moral debate on swear words vs. free speech.

For me however, it really IS all about the ideas, not the words. If I were to empty my scrabble bag onto the table and through a crazy freak of probability the tiles land in such a way that they spell out "Aimee Weber is a big fat fucking whore" I would think nothing of it (other than "whoa, howd THAT happen?".

On the other hand if Lecktor Hannibal (notorious Aimee hater) said to me "Aimee you are a woman of easy virtue and questionable heritage" I would be QUITE angry!

*kicks Lecktor in the shins*

Sorry...got caught up in the mood. Anyways... If you see a sentence like "Aimee is a *****" you most likely will gather what was said through context. Altering the configuration of letters does not clean up the meaning. And by losing the meaning you may be missing a chance to give someone a richly deserved kick in the shins.

I'd like one for run-on sentences. And dropped prepositions.

I agree and to further this feature I say every time a DRAMA QUEEN is detected, the system automatically inserts

When we get to a point that a persons ability to post freely in the fourms over any opinion is stopped by any group then its a very sad day for all of sl.

Today its me because for some unknown reason a group of ppl in these forums likes to make an example out of me. As if to say "don't you dare go against anything we say or we will do this to you too."

Today it's me, and if ppl let this continue tomorrow it could be you.

There is no acceptance of this behavior there is no excuse for this behavior.

Okay All Kidding Aside...

I just find it truly strange that the same person who created this thread in the first place resorted to calling someone a 'fucking asshole' in the midst of anger last night in a thread that shall remain nameless, and then later on in this thread stated that they are tired of seeing soooo much profanity.

Things that definitely make you go hmmmmmmmm
