To Explicit for Burning Life?

I am dismayed to find that my build (Burning Life 3 –The Water of Life) has been considered to explicit for Burning Life. The build is in a mature area, surrounded by other mature sims, I made sure that it couldn’t be view from a PG area. The idea I was try to express was one of contrast and sensuality. Here in the burning desert, water is life. The large granite phallic symbol was built to look like a natural formation; it represents the natural desires and sensuality we as humans enjoy and depend on for continuation of our kind. The water flowing freely is that desire. The pool which is built of marble and gold in contrast to the natural stone contains that symbolizes the way we seek to contain and control our desires. The rest of the design (not quite finished) consist of tents and a pavilion, which should appear to have been built there to allow pilgrims a place to rest and enjoy this oasis in the desert. They are to be filled with pillows and rugs and furnishing to are conducive to cuddling. All the pose balls/ posed pillows are clearly labeled and none depict sex acts only cuddling hugs and may be a kiss or two.
Considering much of the mature art I’ve seen here in second life, I really had no idea this would be such a problem, especially considering this it Burning (Man) Life.
So view it quick before it has to go away.

That's really a shame, and kind of surprising from the historic free expression allowed in game - especially as you note, at burning (man) life. *scampers off in hopes that he's not too late*

I have seen your build. My impression of your art was that it was, in addition to being terribly creative, an indication of the artist's sense of humor.

It would be a travesty if it should be removed.

I didn't think it was particularly obscene. Perhaps you should replace it with the wang of another species. A good dolphin dork might foot the bill. A couple of twisted tori and you're gold.

Has it ever struck you as odd that we go to as much trouble to put the sexual organs of plants on display as we do to hide those of animals?

Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me. How these things come about, I'll never relate to, but I play by the rules. :)

There is your problem and probably why they want it removed. I don't think you can show a wang out in the open - which, for anyone who's actually been to Burning Man could tell you - there are plenty of them out on the playa! Breasts too!

It's too bad that LL doesn't bend this rule a little to keep Burning Life in the spirit of Burning Man.

Well, I'm not an art critic nor an artist, but there's some dude named Michaelangelo who made the attached, excerpted from PBS which is not an organization known for pruient content.

I did get a chance to get over there and am frankly shocked that the work was deemed offensive; there are two snapshots attached, showing in context and detail. Especially given the artist's statement above, I find this work to be tame compared to things I've seen in the Welcome Area. To my eye, if this build is offensive than so is the Transamerica Building just outside Linden Lab. I was expecting Serrano's Piss Christ when I read the original post.

Is not Burning Life intended to be an artistic showcase? There are stone buttes made by nature that are more suggestive.

I'm reminded of Snow Crash, which talks at length about Sumerian myth, among other things. Wasn't it mentioned that water (symbolizing semen) was iconic of fertility, growth and renewal to early human cultures? Is that accurate? If so, more's the pity that this should be shrouded, as symbolism is neat.

Oh, and yeah, not the only time Stephenson has done something like that. In The Diamond Age, there's an orgiastic group (I use that term loosely) called the Drummers who propagate a type of code through the human, uh, bodily fluids. Here's a more precise definition:

But it also went on about wanking, raping daughters, etc, etc.

You specifically asked for a Mature plot. I don't see any reason that your build should be pulled.

Under normal circumstances, I might understand if they wanted the giant penis a little less visible - neighbors, whatever. But this is Burning Life. They're advertising it as the ultimate in SL expression.

The only reason I can think of is it might dampen their prospects of using Burning Life as a ready made advertisement for the creativity of SL residents.

If that's the case, I'm am pulling my build in protest.

*EDIT: changed from "thinking about" to "am". This is ridiculous.

WTF? That's not explicit! Hell. I want one for my lot in Behrii!
Granted, I was thinking it would be... well, beige rock or there would be a face-shaped pool or something.

Well. I'm reporting live from the fountain of life, and I have to say, it looks stunningly beautiful.

You went through a lot of work on this, and I'm glad I got to see it.

I've seen some 'hard core XXX' things in SL, and this is definitely not it.

I think your symbolism is on target.

Would you consider selling minitures? 0.o
I'd love to have one in my home.

Grimalkin,

I'm rather new to SL, and this is the first time I have been able to experience Burning Life. The first time I teleported into the Burning Life area, the very first thing I saw was your exhibit.
Not only did I find it amusing, I thought it was quite beautiful as well. Viewing your exhibit made me curious as to the others there in Burning Life. It "stroked" my curiousity, you could say. :D
It's a shame that the powers that be have deemed it too explicit. Exactly who told you it was too explicit?
I think we should all stage a sit-in at the foot (err balls) of the artwork, and chant in protest.

We tried that, but found the head of the exhibit to be a little more suitable to sitting. ;)

Concidering the picture of the fountain...isn't that a bad pun.
