LL recommended Bedazzle initially for the project because there was no other comparable established team to handle something on this scale.

Whhaaa??? So Bedazzle was the ONLY group of people doing full-sim sized projects? I remember visiting a ton of full-sim projects, awesome builds, long before I ever remember hearing of the group Bedazzle. Yeah, they are good, very very good, but to say there were NO others around who could pull this off... sheesh

Pretty sad, though, that it took me 20 seconds to find it, on accident. I was amazed something so obvious was overlooked by such a "great and stunning" design team.

I knew about the issue and deemed it non-prioritary, seeing as though I still have a shitload of far more important work to worry about.
It's just play money, and there are multiple checks in the banking system to ensure that people can never have more than 155 dollars. So it doesnt really matter - if you fill up your bank account with trivia money by clicking back and forth through the webpage... you will simply not be able to get any interest... and interest comes every day, for free, so it makes no sense to click on web pages repeatedly.
It's not like they can do a lot with their money anyway...
I fixed the bug though... I just needed to copy paste a grand total of two lines of code to make the same check in the form handler as I was making in the html generator.

Actually, add that to a script which auto-creates accounts and I think I could have embezzled about 155*2*20*60*56 L$ (about 20 million or the equivalent of $60,000 USD) before the lindens got into work on monday.

Hmm, actually, I guess I would have hit the account limit. So really that' 5000*155 or 775K L$. Well that's just about 2500 USD.

Assuming they really have a 5K limit on user accounts. Knowing the Linden Programming Methodology Of Hitting Only The Highest Nails First, that limit probably doesn't really exist.

You cant auto create accounts since the backdoor was disabled.

Kudos for fixing the bug quickly Eggy.

While I'm listing bugs, I just found out a new one about a minute ago...

I just clicked on a secondlife:// link to be taken to it in Second Life, but my install of Stagecoach Island fired up... so secondlife:// links are being routed to SI. Ooooops.

The SI client is just a normal SL client with a different skin... and everything about it completely escapes my control.
The system I developed was exclusively made with tools accessible to everyone else - LSL, Email, XMLRPC, Exim filters, PHP, MySQL...
It will work on any normal SL sim, with any normal SL client... :)

Wll you know Brent, I would love to have contacted someone about this but we in the SL community have been pretty much in the dark about this up until a few days ago. I didn't know who to report it to because I still don't who the hell is actually running the damn island. LL? Wells Fargo? Swivel? Bedazzle? Who the hell is RUNNING it?!

Pretty sad, though, that it took me 20 seconds to find it, on accident. I was amazed something so obvious was overlooked by such a "great and stunning" design team.

That is such a cop out - you easily could have contacted any member of Bedazzle, or LL and let them know. There was no reason to post about it publicly. You certainly know who to criticize, so how hard would it have been to send a message about this in private?

Sad to say I have uninstalled SI but it still isn't sending my links properly to SL, so I'm going to redownload the client and reinstall and see if that does anything. :\

*Sigh* I want to laugh at the idea that I receive favortism lol. I have been in this game for almost 2 and 1/2 years and I'm just NOW what someone might consider established as a designer. I started working on clothing a few months after I started SL and I've been in a learning process ever since. Building a name and a business took me a long time and it was not easy. If I'd known all it took was getting into bed with a Linden I sure as hell wouldn't have taken the 2 year route :P. I think I harrassed Jeff enough to scare off my chance of that happening anyway! lol There are a lot of vendors involved in the SI project that just haven't been mentioned, a mall full of them! Believe me when I say we didn't get involved for the money lol.

Bedazzle did a wonderful job and I know Foxy was up night and day as well as Eggy, Jimmy, and others. I've been in ONE article that I know of which was just recently in WWD along with Aimee, unless you count a couple of mentions on websites about the video Nephilaine did of mine and Water's wedding ages ago. I don't think you can consider that being put in the spotlight over and over lol. If LL asks me to be involved in a future project I would assume it was based on what I've done in SL, not how popular I am. I am sure I speak for the other vendors as well when I say that. I am certain there will be many more opportunities in the future for residents, as LL knows we have a community full of talented people.

You bunch of...
09-28-2005 01:46
So... someone posts a back door to a (still work in progress) private, corporate project grid with entirely different rules and goals to SL, and when a Linden says you won't actually be violating the ToS to go look, y'all take the opportunity to go storming in there like a pack of hyenas to rip it to shreds - criticising the builders and insulting the scripters, belittling their efforts, griefing their grid and then criticising the Fargos, using money exploits, using UI exploits to build on their no build island, ripping off the vendors by using exploits to transferring stuff to the main grid, and then y'all come back here to gloat about how big and clever you are and post all those lovely exploits you've found.

Some of you people make me sick. Really.

Fortunately, the children it's aimed at will likely be much more respectful and mature.

What, for people to come in uninvited, behave like complete assholes and then publicly announce the bugs and rip the shit out of the people who worked on it? If you say so.

But really, I'm not surprised. I expect nothing less from SLers.

Ah, but nothing to be jealous about in preview, is there? You can't bitch about FIC or favoritism or scream about commercialism, and there's little reason to come back and ridicule the efforts of others. That would be no fun at all.

Hmmmm.

Well, Jimmy Thompson did a great job. But, he's always been pretty brilliant. I will admit that.

Did he do the welcome area? Seems kinda similar..

I think it's spelled Thomson :)
Hate I didn't get to see the sim :(. Thanks ReallyRick for Posting the Pics.

You don't consider that the best free service we could provide?

First thing I did was pull out a gun left in inventory AND politely put it back when asked.

What this "visit" did was give some major training to future "Fargos"

If they can't handle our polite testing, which was how I behaved... they won't be ready for greifers that smear their name by completely ruining it.

I lost my $30 due to a bug.. I'm glad it happened to me and not an impressionable Wells Fargo customer.
