And, why, exactly, would I want to shout out that I'm the oldest of the old?

If I shout I might have to go take a nap. I'll just wave my cane around.

Edit to ask.. what does that make Alpha members? Any left?

Well I am not the oldest of the Oldbies. As I joined the 17th of May 2003, I only got in on the last six weeks of the Beta experience.

But what a ride it has been! From about 30 sims to who knows how many now. From taxes to revolution, and now the making of money and land issues. Stuff we really didn't have to live with.

As Garth says the only time we really worried about cash then was if we had enough to build what we wanted to (it was L$10 to rez a cube) and lived for stipend day to be able to carry on with your latest build/project.

And Public land was all around for the buying. It was only L$4 a square meter, and if you didnt want it anymore you released it back to the Public and got your money refunded.

Hi Drift -

It's interesting you posted here - as i noticed you re-birthed my BIG DOGs thread - and dogs have been on my mind of late.

Two weeks ago today I had to put my 13-year old dog down

OT: Goodbye Sadness Family Pet

I know I won't be getting another dog anytime soon - and lo' and behold, I suddenly see that there are virtual dogs!

Excellent!

:)

I was a beta member with another account. Didn't think about checking to see if I could still use it until after I had already started this account. Beta accounts name was Edav Nomad.

Hi Merwan,

Sorry to hear about your dog :-(

We don't currently have German Shepherds, but contact me in-world and D&D Dogs will donate a dog of your choice to you. I've lost pets in the past and it is very sad.

Unless you came into the corral and were greeted by Jenn, yer just a spring chicken

Of course, if you built the corral, yer really old

And if you built the gov mansion, yer certified ancient ;)

I just noticed all the veterans who came in April/May of 2003. Maybe we are the baby boomers of SL.
I actually consider the early beta's from later 2002-early 2003 to be the "old timers", though I certainly don't consider myself to be a newbie anymore. I am always amazed when someone says in awe, "Wow, you're from beta!" like I have some kind of sage status or something.
