Godless: A Thread About Ann Coulter's New Book

There will always be the fringe elements on the far side of every political spectrum.

Coulter on the right i suppose could be seen as opposite Moore on the Left.

Its worth noting that the extremes on either side dont understand what a traitor actually is.

Though the right is more guilty of this Particular error in the current political climate.

she is so over the top, its obvious that she doesnt actually believe that stuff.

Eh, I don't know, some of the crazies out there are pretty convincing that they actually believe the stuff they say. Yeah, people like Fred Phelps, after you read his auto-biography, it's pretty obvious that they do it for publicity. But Ann? I lump her with Pat "I can lift 2000 pounds" Robertson. Then again, even Pat prophesizes god, truth, love, and honesty, while using his charities to smuggle stuff illegally out of Africa.

The more fanatics that emerge from the far right like Ann and Fred the more it will, (hopefully) push people to the middle. Same goes for the far left, Michael Moore. All of which are quite aware that the most effective lies contain an elements of truth.

Rage on, pundits of insanity, rage on.

Of course, arguing with extremists is more fun... moderates tend to revise their opinions too often to be good targets.

Ann Coulter is an obscenity. She panders to Am3erican Ignorance and glorifies it. She is jessica Simpson with a law degree. Coutler has the tools to think and chooses not to. She dumps compassion, integrity and honor, for the sake of making a buck out of political profiteering. She is, like Michael Moore and GW Bush, an icon to the politics of looting.

Ann Coulter is a manifestation of a symptom of everything that is wrogn with american politics-she reduces it to a variety show. And of course, for all those of you who are forum grammar nannies-the woman struggles to write a coherent paragraph. I cannot beleive she survived law school-though it is clear to me why she is a politcal hack and profiteer, and not an attorney.

(Of course bad grammar in a forum post is meaningless-bad grammar in a book I am expected to pay for is criminal-coulter and her editors should be shot).

Anyone who looks at history and sees McCarthyism as anything other than a dark stain on American History is simply ignorant. And ignorance, unlike stupidity is a choice, and that is what makes it offensive.

Umm ok. I really don't know how I feel about affirmative action. The welfare system needs a major overhaul, requiring people to work! There are English as a second language classes. Immigrants who refuse to learn English really are limiting their chances of succeeding in this country. Where did you get that quote that "maybe the Iraqis just aren't ready for democracy." I'm thinking you pulled it out of your ass, but I could be wrong.

More specifically, both democrats and republicans were kinda racisty, then couple of democrats stood up and said, "Hey, let's not be racist any more!" and people who didn't like that split off and became Dixiecrats. Those guys eventually merged into the republican party. Looking at the history of the two party systems in US, it seems the parties have been switching sides over and over. First dems were racist, now republicans are. Then more recently, Republicans were for fiscal responsibility, small government, and honor and integrity in government, now Democrats are. And the cycle will continue I'm sure.

Slow your row there big fella. Ann doesn't pander to American ignoranc or any such nonsense. Ann is simply an idealogue, and the fact that all of you get your VS lace panties in a twist over her is boggling and useless.




How is she a symptom of everything wrong with American politics? She is not a politician, she doesn't lobby any sort of legislation either. Maybe she is a symptom of whats wrong with idealogues, that would atleast make sense.

An idealogue, by definition, must have ideas and principles - and stick to them, somewhat.

Coulter is no idealogue, she is an opportunistic rabble-rouser, a tool who filches a few simple concepts from others, lends these concepts emotion and violence, and then passes them off to the most intellectually-vulnerable parts of the American population. She's no thinker, she's no idealist, she reacts to promote her own self-serving ends. Her success is the measure of the bottom-end of American political culture - which is anti-ideological and anti-idealogue merely because the concept of an ideology is beyond them.

Ah, it was a bit of trickery. I had assumed that Briana had made a typo and meant ideologue, which is what you are talking about.

However, in a followup post, she very specifically stated idealogue, which is a person given to fanciful ideas. I'd say Ann Coulter fits that profile pretty well.

Ann Coulter is also a demagogue, which you described well.
