Was Joe McCarthy right about the Communist spies in the US government?

(hint: yes) He was right about there being Communist spies, a piercing truth roughly as insightful as the observation that, today, at THIS VERY MOMENT, there's people who dislike the United States in the Middle East. His attempt to actually root out any such spies was a sound failure, a mere witchhunt.

For the record, Condoleeza Rice detests Ann Coulter, as does most of the Republican leadership. Coulter has her uses - much the same way that a rabid dog has its role in a political election for the local dog-catcher - so she's tolerated, but only under certain circumstances and in certain company. She's rabble-rouser to the "great unwashed" - a panderer of cheap drama and a force that motivates that most moronic part of conservative America to spend their votes for conservatives. A tool. And that's how the Republican leadership perceives her.
Early American leaders like Franklin, Jefferson, Hamilton, and Madison feared the emergence of demagogues like Coulter, and the corrosive effects their slavish, ignorant followers would have on democratic institutions.

hell i'm republican and can't stand her, SHE WON'T SHUT THE FUCK UP! her and Rush Limbaugh, who hasn't made a decent point since childhood. Its people like them that give us a bad name. Now don't get me wrong, she does make some good points, but then she carries them out as far and as outrageous as she can, she does have to sell books remember. If she had just said "the media is largely Democratic and puts a slant on alot of things." it would have been a decent point and true to a certain extent. (don't believe me, watch the news shows during Presidential elections or controversial legislation debate) its when she continues it and starts attacking "liberals" that i lose interest, she just turns into a bobble head doll.
