So you dub Ann Coulter a hatemonger, accuse her of lying, and have no facts to back it up. Oh, and then you posit that Joe McCarthy wasn't right when history, buried as it may be, proves otherwise.

You guys are really coming through for me tonight.

-Kiamat Dusk

What part of history has proven him right? That he found communists? Gee..that wasn't illegal then and it's not now. How many spies did he actually prove were spies? You may have missed that entire point of history, but it was a witch hunt that ruined many innocent lives and got so vicious that it even embarressed his own party and associates to the point of distancing themselves from him and then finally shoving him back into the closet from when he krept out.

You may want to read up on it.

Did you think the Spanish Inquisition was right to? Was Hiltler right? Each had what they said was proof that enabled them to torment folks. Each was sure they were right. Each led to tragic and terrible times. McCarthy was a blowhard windbag that managed to sieze upon the American fear of those evil communists, much as Bush has done since 9/11. It was a mob-mentality fear/hate response, and it's been seen in history time and time again, with predictibly horrible results each time.

And as far as proof goes, I haven't seen any evidence of anything from you, and you started the thread.

As far as Ann's statements and claims, you may want to see what even known republican mouthpieces and ultra conservatives think about her and her statements. For the most part, she is despised and only gains attention by becoming more and more outrageous in her claims. Have you watched any of her interviews? How can you even like someone so cruel and unstable and wicked and mean-spirited, despite her political views. Her and Rove should get married and give birth to the antichrist and get it over with.

Nope. Nothing "wicked and mean-spirited" there.

Gah! Just call me another victim of a public school education. And thank you for demonstrating another common Hard Left tactic-can't fight the facts, assualt the spelling. "Look the monkey can't spell-his argument is invalid!"

Ah no, but interesting diversion of your own there.

I was actually criticizing you not for your spelling but because you mangled the word so badly that I actually couldn't understand what you meant and didn't want to put words in your mouth.

Let me correct your spelling:

"On the other hand the Dukakis furlough program that released Willie Horton who was sentenced to life without possibility of parole...I say again...without possibility of parole...is very equivocable to the concept of banning prisons."

Now, what exactly does that mean?

Oh, I see you've changed it in your original post to "along the same lines". So is "equivocable" equivalent to "equivocal" which equates to "along the same lines?"

You can see my confusion here. You had a typo for a word that doesn't exist when you were really searching for a word that didn't mean what you thought it meant.

But your public school education did at least teach you to avoid the stinging criticism of your position and focus on the most inconsequential (and thus harmless) statement in the critique. Or was it Karl Rove who taught you that?

That's the best response you could come up with? Man, you are getting lazy in your blind defense of injustice and the unamerican way. ;)

Both of them threw the first 1000 stones, and me calling evil evil is hardly wicked. It's just fact. I try not pick on the relatively innocent, while they've both made careers out of it.

You do know that you can't really put all those you label "liberal" in to neat little boxes, don't you? We all don't believe in, or support the same things. I think the one thing all us "liberals" can agree on is our dislike for the current adminstration and what an atrocity it is. Have fun with your beliefs, I hope you don't have too much of a nervous breakdown when us "liberals" take over. :p

I had a long, heartfelt reply to post...

But then I read some of the idiocy and personal attacks in here that passes for debate.

So I'm just going to say this: the people in our society are a reflection of the society itself. If you dislike the actions of individual people, look at the society that spawned them.

Our own leaders are practically swimming in their own corruption. Our own senators might as well just stamp "SOLD" on their foreheads. My own city government is awash in scandals... from pension fund misappropriation to outright bribery.

It's no wonder that when you ask a passing high school student if he would lie, cheat, steal, or even do worse if he had no chance of getting caught, he says "Sure. If there's no punishment, why not?"

We're no longer raising our kids with any sense of morality. I'm not talking about gay marriage or abortion, either: I'm talking about even more fundamental things like respecting other people. Is it because we're letting Nickelodian and MTV raise them for us?

I don't have the answer.

But I do know that this isn't George Bush's fault. It's also not Bill Clinton's, Ronald Ragen, or Jimmy Carter's fault... it's a sign of a much deeper illness in our country.

And it's only getting worse.

This isn't about Left vs. Right. It's about good and evil. There are good men and women on BOTH sides of the political spectrum. There are also many evil men and women on both sides, too. Our political system is no longer about serving the people, but has become a way for greedy people to further their own ambitions.

The American people need to stand up to our corrupt leaders and say "Enough is enough!" We need to find a new way to pick our leaders that doesn't involve "who can raise the most money", or "who can do more unethical things and not get caught". It's time we had a real change in the way our country's government does business. But it won't happen, because the very people that are being screwed - namely all of us, have no power to actually change things.

After a very good exchange with Zuzu Fassbinder, I've been careful not to use "liberal" but "hard left" to denote the people to whom I'm referring. Of course, I'm human and may have missed a few.

That said, I'm headed out for now. I want to thank you David, Turbo, Sally, and Mickey for making all my arguments for me and proving correct everything I've ever said about the far-left. All it took was mentioning Ann's name and you guys went straight for the polemics, the rhetoric, and the favorite old tactics.

I've always said this isn't about Right and Left. It's about the middle. All I do is put the chum in the water and watch you guys do what you always do, because I know they are watching, too. The moderates. The undecided. The un-indoctrinated. The ones who read, but never post. They're watching what you say and how you act. And then they vote. And that is how Bush got elected twice.

Sincerely,

-Kiamat Dusk

I thought he got elected through voter fraud, payoffs, vote blocking and his brother? But that damn history must be lying again.

As to you always saying it's not about the Right and Left, umm..your nose just grew a few inches.

And what she is suggesting, and what I agree with, is that most Democrats in this country do not truly understand the Democrat platform.

This might be true and is probably something that could be applied to both parties, not just the Democrats. ;)

From: Kiamat Dusk
I mean if Democrats came out and said "We want to turn the USA into Europe, legalize drugs, tax you as much as possible, and abolish the prison system" they would never get elected again.

True, though I will say:

- No, I do not want America turned into Europe.
- Yes, I do think legalizing drugs is the only way to win the war.
- No, I don't think we should tax everyone into oblivion. I dislike taxes as much as Ann does, I'm sure.
- No, I don't want to abolish the prison system. It's there for a reason.

From: Kiamat Dusk
Just a thought...why don't you *read* the book? Here you are slamming the woman and accusing her of things based on what? What Keith Olbermann said? Some random quotes from her books?

It's on my list. Please don't assume that I'm stupid enough to base an opinion of her off of that interview, Kiamat.

Here's why I think she's a nut-job:

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband's deaths so much."

"Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole."

"We need to execute people like (John Walker Lindh) in order to physically intimidate liberals."

"Press passes can't be that hard to come by if the White House allows that old Arab Helen Thomas to sit within yards of the President."

"[Canadians] better hope the United States does not roll over one night and crush them. They are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent."

"The ethic of conservation is the explicit abnegation of man's dominion over the Earth. The lower species are here for our use. God said so: Go forth, be fruitful, multiply, and rape the planet--it's yours. That's our job: drilling, mining and stripping. Sweaters are the anti-Biblical view. Big gas-guzzling cars with phones and CD players and wet bars -- that's the Biblical view."

"No wonder you guys lost."

"[A] cruise missile is more important than Head Start."

"Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the First Amendment."

"I think [women] should be armed but should not vote...women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it...it's always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care."

"
Liberals refuse to condemn what societies have condemned for thousands of years - e.g., promiscuity, divorce, illegitimacy, homosexuality."

"Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now."

"With their infernal racial set-asides, racial quotas, and race norming, liberals share many of the Klan's premises. The Klan sees the world in terms of race and ethnicity. So do liberals! Indeed, liberals and white supremacists are the only people left in America who are neurotically obsessed with race. Conservatives champion a color-blind society."

As for the quotes above, she's either bullshitting us all, or she believes what she says to a degree -which boggles my mind. How could a woman feel that women should have no rights??!! She has some funny quotes too, but it's the ones above (and others like it) that give her her notoriety.

I dislike her for questioning anyones patriotism based solely on their political stance. To call me un-American because I'm a registered Democrat is bullshit and very, very insulting. Which, I suppose, is her goal - to be so inflammatory in her remarks that she invokes a highly-passioned and unguarded response.

I believe Democrats wish to turn the USA back into the USA. Republicans wish to turn it into Haliburton.

Are you trying to tell me that those weren't the funny quotes? A lot of those quotes are hyperbole for the sake of laughter. Yes, there is a basis in her own feelings there, but she takes it to an extreme to make a point and make it funny. John Stewart does this 5x a week.

Oh, and to show just how incredibly oversensitive Liberals can be.

-This is so true. Of course there will always be exceptions, but on the whole, this is true. We need affirmative action to help minorities because they can't get jobs on their own. We need welfare because the poor minorities can't get by on their own. We need bilingual education because the hispanics can't learn english. Oh, and don't get me started on the arguments after we invaded Iraq that "maybe the Iraqis just aren't ready for democracy." What!?

[/i]"Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now."

-You don't have to look very far into these forums to see the veracity of this statement, either. Look at how anyone who dares condemn abortion is treated. Look how many times people who stand up for our country are shouted down as "jingoists". Oh, and do a search and see how many hits you get for "xian".

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."

-But Kendra gets away with calling for the President's execution with nary a peep from you.

The truth hurts, she's just twisting the knife.

You guys need to learn to lighten up. Sheesh-we're supposed to be the ones with the stick up our ass.
