It was not an accusation of vanity. Pages about individuals are called VANITY PAGES in the parlance of the Wikipedia, unless they are noteworthy individuals. As large as Anshe may be, she is not of the stature of say, Martin Luther King, or even Paris Hilton, and would fall under the personal vanity page category. Any of us would, regardless of who created the page. Personally I think everyone in the world should have their own page in the Wikipedia.

Please review the Wiki definition of a vanity article. The article was also flagged for deletion as a vanity article prior to being linked here. The vanity part had nothing to do with posters or comments made here. The vanity part came from the Wikipedia.

I'm familiar with the english language, thanks. Maybe you both could use some brushup with it though. They're called vanity pages for the same reason customized license plates are called vanity plates... because they're vain. Suggesting that Anshe created the wikipedia entry herself is to accuse her of being vain. For as much as you love to accuse people of being wilfully obtuse you seem to be rather skilled at it yourself at the moment.

Eggy is the person who said vanity pages are not allowed in the Wikipedia. He did not say "Anshe created the page.". No one did. It is called a vanity page REGARDLESS of who created it. I am not being willfully obtuse, just pushing back against you claiming people said something they did not. There are plenty of accusations to go around without you attributing things to people that they did not say.

I didn't think anyone was mocking Anshe, just pointing a link to her Wiki entry, which most people probably didn't know about.

I asked specifically about her SL anonymity - I didn't understand how you can put your personal information out there, and then claim your SL anonymity has been somehow violated - especially when LL promotes the article containing your personal information. Kindly loose the bitchy comments.

I don't see anything wrong with Anshe being a whore before she became a businesswoman.

Although, if it is true she is a man and woman team, I should probably be safe and say businessperson.

I realize that. You also plucked out one part out of her post and ignored the rest. She clearly felt she was being called vain and being given a hard time for something she had no part in. It obviously rubbed her the wrong way and it was obvious in her post. So was your decision to take her to task on that one particular point because you really didn't understand or because you wanted to give her shit? It seemed to me it was the latter. Other posts, especially the last few, just go to show the kind of shit she gets here on a regular basis. I think it's mean spirited and lame.

If you offer mature services to people for money you are a whore. I didn't make up the word or the profession.

Escorts are people who help you get from one place to another. For instance, I could escort an elderly lady across the street. That doesn't mean I am fucking her.

However, If I was employed by an elderly woman as a man-whore, one would get a more accurate idea of the services I would be or could be providing.

Please do not tell me what I ignored. I read her entire post, and did not understand what she meant by that, so I asked for clarification. God forbid I do that. I did not understand someone with as much stature, and who has had as much press coverage as Anshe with her RL info in it could possibly claim her SL "anonymity" had been breached. Yes, it is copyable. Even has her listed as the creator. She handed them out waaaaay back when.

I find it interesting that many of the posters in this thread are, themselves, very clever business people in SL. Eboni, Christiano, and Chip have all made outstanding contributions to the SL economy and, hopefully, are realizing a reward (financial or otherwise) for their contributions.

Is the issue here that the thread was, at one point, locked? Is it that one SL member has garnered outside attention (whether it is self-promotion or not)? Or is it an issue of privacy? I ask these questions in all sincerity. What seems to be the key issue here?

Actually the real issue here was lack of proper moderation. The thread was closed under the guise of closing it because real life information was released but the same information has been available on the SL homepage for months over and over in various articles. Linking a Wiki article should not be classified as outing a residents identity when that identity has been public for months.



Currently the thread has turned mean and a tad vulgar so I am sure it will be closed on those grounds.
