Vanity pages are supposedly not allowed on wikipedia. The fact that this is still around says a lot about the signal to noise ratio there

Why did Anshe leave out her Escorting days? Everyone loves a working girl who pulled herself up by her cheap garter belts to make a better life.

I don't know who wrote this Wikipedia article about me and I don't feel like I should comment on its accuracy. Of course it is nice some people take interest.

After somebody come with the word "vanity" I need make clear three thing though:

1. It is not my fault when other people take interest and write about me.

2. There was much media attention recently. None of these media people have been contacted by Linden Lab or me. They all seek me out by themselves, sometimes by very weird methods.

3. All this had measurable impact of more people joining SL. Especially the Business 2.0 article brought many people to SL and after DER SPIEGEL published story in Germany the members in German SL groups doubled within 10 day

So please give me one break and also consider what it mean to me to give up my SL anonymity and allow this be brought to my RL environment, also my students. When facing the "real lifers" I think we should stick together. Too many already have the prejudice about "socially inept loosers play the porn game"

Not sure what the uproar was about. Having your RL info out there is more exposure than I would want to tolerate. The facts seemed accurate as far as I know them. Maybe some jealousy?

Congtrats to helping us to be more Europeans in SL!!!

BTW where are the German sims that LL was putting up down under??? They was on the map for a while - now since long gone....

I don't think he was saying that you are "vain", exhibiting "vanity", or fully implying that you wrote the page, an explaination of the term "Vanity Page" can be foundhere

On a tangential note, am I the only one who wouldn't trust a Wikipedia entry as far as I could throw any of Yahoo's server clusters?

Please respect the privacy of fellow residents especially dealing with RL info. And as I gathered from the resident in question's post, this wasn't something they readily want revealed.

I'm going to reopen this thread, with the stern warning that if anyone starts personally attacking one another, it will be reclosed.

I did this on the thought that the CS: Disclosure was meant for everyone regardless of how high-profile their SL/RL identity is. In summary, this is what I went by:

Sharing personal information about a fellow Resident -- beyond what is provided by the Resident in the First Life page of their Resident profile is a violation of that Resident's privacy.

As I'm not sure about how tolerant LL is about revealing private info, I'll just leave this up to a Linden to review.

I apologize if this action rubbed anyone the wrong way.

I am confused by this. In multiple articles, you have provided RL information about yourself - your name, your job, etc. How has this Wikipedia article made you give up your SL anonymity? You have had more press coverage than anyone, and I have seen your name and background explained in several of those articles.

Perhaps because most of the posts in this thread were mean spirited? I've also revealed my RL information when I've been interviewed and I too would certainly ask to be cut some slack if there were endless mocking or accusatory threads started about me. Having notoriety shouldn't negate someone's humanity.

If we reflect on that deeper, then maybe we can understand why some of the posts seemed "mocking". That is a pretty deep statement Chip from which can be taken several ways.

Nothing that you said has anything to do with anonymity. If you put your RL information out there, you cannot then cry foul when your RL information is out there. This thread also was not accusatory, it was noting the Wikipedia article.

Someone keeps deleting it. Whatever - I have her escort pricing notecard - it's my MOST prized SL posession, along with the pictures.

I don't think that's what she was crying foul about. Seems to me it was the accusation of vanity and that she created the wikipedia entry herself.

Yes and I would like to note that this is a fact. People aren't making it up to be mean. I think to leave this part out of a very special success story does the success story an injustice. If the Wiki is not accurate, what can we believe in? Brittanica?

Exactly. It is true - the notecard was created by none other than Anshe and I feel it is a great 'rags to riches' SL story.
