Hi,

I have always asked this question as a child...of course no one at church could answer it:

Where do the dinosaurs fit into the Bible?

We know that they were here. They left proof. Any of you that have studied evolution, etc could you lend some theories? I am interested in what you have to say. I have been reading and participating in some of the threads here and find you all very knowledgeable and insightful!

Timeline anyone?

The creation of the world is basically where they fit in. It wasn't literally created in seven days. Each "day" was lotsa lotsa years.

I don't have a timeline, but that's how I have always understood it.

This is in contradiction with the teachings of the church. It is interpreted as a literally seven days, if I'm not mistaken.

Hmm, maybe in your church Ulrika. (just funning with you ;) )

However, I attened a parochial school and they taught the bible version of creation as allegory.

Real Timeline that is Consistant with Dinosaurs and the Bible

Billions of years ago - God created the heavens and the Earth (Genesis 1:1)
Millions of years ago - Dinosaurs created then die out
Tens of thousands of years ago - "And the Earth became without form and void" (next verse)
4004 BCE - Adam and Eve, et al.

The problem here is that many creationists believe there was only ONE creation, and many evolutionists believe there was NO creation. But the simple solution is that there were MANY creations, and only the last one was mentioned in the Bible.

It's not me, it's my über-religious relatives. They also believe that during communion the wafer and wine literally become the flesh and blood of christ as it slides down your throat. *shiver*

Yes, I think that could be the case. The problem is figuring out which answer God considers correct.

That's the thing...a lot of the people take the bible too literally. Also, when ever in the bible it says "40 days and 40 nights", that's not supposed to be taken literally either. How coincidently would everything happen to be the same time period?

40 days and 40 nights == a long period of time.

6 days == billions of years

I find it rather interesting, though, that the shorter amount of "days" is actually longer. Hmmm.

If I remember correctly (hell, I might as well start prefixing all my posts with that) the reasoning or at least one school of thought I came across is that one day for God is many thousands of years to humanity. Can't find any relevant google-info on it tho...

Is this a serious Christianity question? If so, creationist do have a lot to say on the subject. I can provide some links if you are interested.

If you think all creationist are hillbillies (which some would condider me as such :) ) with no education, you are sadly mistaken.

I know a couple of intelligent creationists. They aren't very analytically astute however they have impressive skills in other areas.

Naw y'all aren't all hillbillies despite the stuff you say. I'm sure a few of you graduated from the 6th grade. :)

That just wasn't nice... It hurts too... There should be some sort of moderation for defamation of character shouldn't there? :)

There is a list from a single site of those who are qualified (probably much more than any of us in this forum) to answer question pertaining to this and many other questions.

Edit---
Oh yeah, having been past the 6th grade, I can read what they do have to say...

Hey I never said one word against hillbillies or anyone else for that matter. Any defamation of character comes from within.

I'm kind of fibbing to be kind. I know a few folks who presuppose the existence of god in philosophical debates but they've never really identified themselves as creationists. :/

These and other questions you may have, the answers are right where you think they would be. Read the book.

The old book, is history, and for those that live under the law.

The new book, is for everyone to live under grace.

It is written, it that book. Take the meaning for what you concieve them to be.

Nothing more, nothing less. Yes even the dinosaurs are in there.

Hey I bet you didnt know that the lesser gods, mated with human females to strenghen the species, Its all in there.

Here's the hard part, Open the book, yep just flip it open to any random page. It seys you will gain wisdom form what you read. Ive done it, dang it id doesnt work.

Oh yeah, please dont confuse the Catholics with Christens, they are two different things.

Ask any church goer who is the head of the church, and they will tell you God.

Ask a Catholic who is the head of the church, and they will tell you the pope (A man)

50% or man made organized religon is a farce.

Spiritualism, is ones commuion with ones higher power.

That's called "scrying", I've done the same thing with the book Finnegan's Wake, and people do the same thing basically while looking for patterns in tea leaves.

I am still attempting to be sickeningly nice to and accepting of everyone, and too tired to question or argue wtih any of your beliefs. So, at a quick glance they seem like fascinating ideas, please sign me up for your newsletter at once!
