was in a low populated area and went to teleport to a club property the tp failed and I was presented with a dialougue saying I had been logged out. I have been trying to log back in for 10 minutes everytime the login in screen stops saying waiting for a handshake from the region then says try again in a few minutes. Alternately, it has said I am being directed from another location and then it says sever did not receive packetts. grrr lol

Hi Ray, I've merged your multiple posts and am going to move it to Technical Issues where you can reply--SL Answers isn't the correct forum to post in.
![]() More elaborate details of what's happening to you would help--I don't have much to go on with what you typed. ![]() Gridwide logins are fine right now, and you can contact support for further assistance. _____________________

Torley, I've been having the same issue as Ray here. What happens is this:
I, and Ray apparently, try to log in to SL. It goes through the usual motions but then gets stuck at a point where it says "Waiting for region handshake". After being at that point for a few moments, it boots us out with a popup message saying "Unable to connect. Login packet never recieved by login server. Please try again in a few minutes." I've been trying for about 4 or 5 days now to connect and the problem persists. I didn't have this problem until very recently, and I'm fairly certain it wasn't after a new update for SL. I've also tried completely uninstalling SL from my computer, and reinstalling it using a fresh download from the website. I've also looked into my router settings, and I've been unable to find a source of the problem. I've disabled my firewalls, disabled my anti virus protection, and a host of other things that I could think of, all to no avail. I have no idea what the deal is, and am completely stumped as to what to do to remedy the situation. Any input at all from you or someone with Tech Support would be greatly and forever appreciated. |

Make it three of us with the problem. I've been seeing it intermittently for a couple of days, but today I can't get in at all. Fortunately I had a live offline IM session with the person I wanted to see and we arranged to meet in another chat service. That's *not* the case with another friend, though.
Do I need to attach a bigger hint to my clue-by-four? - C |

First, let's not confuse things:
Tina, I believe you're referring to repeatedly logging in to the SL Forums, right? That's a separate issue which is being investigated: /111/3f/101503/1.html Caoimhe and Lillith are referring to logging into SL itself. Looks like a good thing here is Caoimhe's presence is displaying incorrectly--as offline inworld, but online internally. I'll ask for Caoimhe to be unwedged, and also, if there's any more info that can be unravelled from your details, Lillith. Thanks... anyone else having the exact "Unable to connect. Login packet never recieved by login server. Please try again in a few minutes." problem, please share as well. _____________________

First, let's not confuse things: By all means, let's not. However, since I referred Tina, I believe you're referring to repeatedly logging in to the SL Forums, right? In her original posting it sure sounded to me like she was also having the wedged grid login problem. I also posted to the forum/SL website repeated login problem thread (not sure how to work the grammar on that ![]() I've debugged a lot of multi-systemic bugs, and such things may or may not be related: time correlations can lead you a merry chase, but they're an important data point. If my reply where I noticed the time correlation has confused Tina (and yourself) then I apologize. As far as SL goes, I am a mere user; although one who actually does build systems as complex as this. I'll ask for Caoimhe to be unwedged, and also, if there's any more info that can be unravelled from your details, Lillith. Thank you very much Torley. The real question, of course, is why it happened in the first place and what can I do to prevent it from happening to *me* *again*? - C |

This just started happening to me as well. I can't log in!! ARG! Same deal exactly as above. Waiting for region handshake, then times out with same error. With all the problems last week (not all were LL problems), an now thing. I'm getting frustrated and sometimes wonder why I'm paying $105/mon in tier and premium. ![]() |

Don't know, if this is somehow related, but I am having heavy packet losses at the moment (peaking at 50%%)...
I am located in Europe, and I am not sure if they get lost somewhere over the atlantic. I did a couple of pings on europe-located sites, and they all turned up with 0% losses, when I pinged secondlife.com, it was about 20%, google, which is located in the US as well, if i am informed right, had 0% as well. Are the any known problems with SL that could explain this? |

Hiya Torley
![]() I don't know if I'm supposed to be unwedged or not, but I'm still unable to log in. Same error symptoms as before. This is getting to be a real drag. - C |

Ditto, no joy here either. I've been trying for the past 4 hours now and keep getting the same results.
![]() Edit: For what it's worth, when the error comes up, it says my location is "10,10,10 (unknown)" |

I apologize--I've not heard back just yet... Caoimhe, you're still wedged. The simple way to put this is: your online presence getting borked is a bug, and it shouldn't happen. I'll ask again so you can be freed, I will personally check later to make sure.
About the "Unable to connect. Login packet never recieved by login server. Please try again in a few minutes.", I'll also report this ASAP. We really want you guys to be able to get back in! _____________________

And, BTW: if you get the "Unable to connect. Login packet never recieved by login server. Please try again in a few minutes." error, are you able to log into Second Life Preview 1.9.1 at all? It is a different grid.
I'll be watching this thread. _____________________

Caoimhe, just wanted to add that Phoenix Linden unwedged you since a couple of hours ago, so you should be fine now. I've also IMed you. Safe travels!

Getting the same results here.
Whether it's the Preview grid or the main SL grid, I get the exact same result with the exact same error. This is horrible. I miss my friends in SL... *Sigh* |

Still no joy here. Should I run console mode or send y'all the logs?

Hello.
I am also having the same problem as reported by the other correspondents in this thread. I get a series of messages culminating in "Waiting for region handshake..." and then "Unable to connect. Login packet never received by region server" Is there a fix in progress? |

Still can't log in on the main grid, or new (Today's) preview grid as of this post.

Yes, please, email me (torley@lindenlab.com) your log Caoihme! Anyone else who wants to send their SecondLife.log to me, can do so too. Look for it in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\SecondLife\logs and simply email it as an attachment.Clearly this is still aggravating--we tested behind-the-scenes and your accounts were able to be logged in fine. We're going to keep investigating. Something is weird here. _____________________

Anyone else who's been having this exact same problem:
"Unable to connect. Login packet never received by login server. Please try again in a few minutes." and it just started happening to you recently, and you've already attempted all the basic things like disabling firewall, uninstalling and reinstalling SL, and soforth? Please check this too:You might describe it as, "It suddenly started happening to me and I don't remember changing any of my settings."Please read carefully from the top and send me your log files like I posted previously. Thanx! _____________________
