This dumb f*ck may be the first resident in our history to have a lawsuit against him for DoS attacking an entire grid! And you know what? My club is having an event in an hour, if there's a law suit I may join in against the basterd for loss of business!

Wow. There were similar objects being dropped near my home in Cypa about a week ago. They were more like flares, one long stick with pictures of that Half-Life guy streaming out as particles. The entire thing was set with physics enabled. I just deleted them and didn't think much more about it.

This guy must have been perfecting his juvenile scripting last week.

i was probably in one of the last sims 2 go down - gougon sandbox sim - watched all the ones around us fall - naam flashbacks! aaagghhh! but we gotta go in and save him captain - i i dont care if hes a 38 prim dinosaur!

I saw these balls in Belmondo... The whole game started running like crap and then BOOM - "Sim is offline".
Does that mean they were able to spawn all over the game world? Holy f on a stick...

Yep, I can confirm Ol Fitzcarraldo as i managed to check one of the physics balls using the editor. Just before Carnforth crashed i managed to jot down the following stats: 22427 pending uploads, 5399 active scripts, 2757 active objects, fps = 1.5. I tried to TP out and then was logged out as the sim crashed. An officer on the land where i was visiting tried repeatedly to return the objects but it made no difference as they were spawning faster than they could be deleted.

i just thought - now everyone is out of the game and the forums are being overpopulised - will the forums crash?

and will sl keep crashing due 2 2000 odd peeps trying to log back in?

Ok So far we know that,
Ol Fitzcarraldo a member of W-hat released a bunch of self-replicating prims into the grid.
The Servers started falling one by one, now the webserver is about to fail due to the traffic. The 'greifospheres' were physics enabled and possibly causing deep think errors by rezzing on top of one another. Linden Labs is saying they can have the servers back up soon, which I highly doubt. Anyone have anything to add to my little rant?

I was in Nantucket d'Alliez when I got an IM from a friend in Newman... He said that someone was shooting some spheres everywhere... that he asked them to stop and that there must have been hundreds of them. I crashed before I could even try to tp there. We are chatting in yahoo messenger now and both of us are having problems getting back in. He crashed the same time I did. I didn't see anything wrong in Nantucket, so what's going on?

Count me in as well. I was in the middle of a project for LL when the bomb went off, which I promised I'd deliver to them on Monday. I believe they have a deadline of their own on this thing. If I can't deliver because of this, you better believe this unnamable bastard (I can't name names, but I can say "bastard" on the forums, right?) and I will have a date in court.

I was shopping with a friend, the next thing I saw a ball roll by my foot and I couldn't move. Moments later, I was logged out.

Hopefully the new 1.7 will fix this exploit.

I wish I had reported version 1.0 of this fools griefing script when I saw it in action last week. I guess I didn't really realize what this putz was up to. Lesson learned. Next time I see something like this I will certainly report it.

OK same here i was at clone base then we saw self replicating balls, yea and we started moving really slow then we tried to re log but never got back on, well some one has to report his ass, or something, after we get back on imma tell em what happened

Well LL should take some action beyond merely banning the perps. Sending them a virus would not be the right answer. Pressing criminal charges of some sort against them would. All i get is 'Second Life is down for maintenance', GRRRRR

I was next door in Newcome.. same thing..sigh. My poor build lies in many pieces... lets see if it is even there when things finally come back up.

I wonder if this wasnt aptly timed to screw with the roll out of 1.7. Wonder if it will throw that back.. or have SL be down for a much longer period because of it. hmmmm

I say we gather the angry mobs, torches and the dogs and find the perpetrators.
