Exceptional news - I just got to the grid and tested el Diving board Deluxe.

And a LOT of happy campers will be pleased to know that it once again works as it should.

From this whole experience I'm happy to say that I've had some faith restored, that - as I've mentioned earlier, if I were relying on hacks or 'undocumented features' I would cut my losses and say 'oh well it was a nice run'.

Having functionality cut out for naught but convenience - be it to rush a feature - or because others aren't using the system correctly is not a good thing.

It's good to see that both LL and enough people in world agree with that.

It might be too late to chime in but... Why not let the new camera controls revoke permission just like other permissions but put a "Release Camera" button at the bottom of the screen, also like other permissions? If someone hijacks your camera then release is a click away and it preserves consistency with the way other permissions work.

Yes, yes, hobgoblin. Little minds. Shut up. :)

If I'm reading the release note correctly....

Well written scripts that cleaned up after themselves (to reduce things like perms spam) will now generate perms spam...

Wheres piss poorly written scripts that didn't clean up after themselves will now run better.

I have to ask...

Am I reading that correctly.... and if I am ---- what the fuck? Maybe I should stop trying to divine how LSL works and how to use it better and just throw junk out there...

Also - what happened to that lovely Godot gapstopper of letting us see if land had build or script permissions set... I saw it in the initial note of it when 1.9 was first mentioned - but its not in the release notes now..

Swept under the table and hope the new camera control shiney will distract?

As I said in another thread, this update is needed because?????

Yes thats nice - but what does it have to do with taking AWAY functionality at the last second that has absolutley nothing to with whats added?

Nothing whatsoever. I was responding to, I guess, Cristiano's comment*, not the scripting debate, which I'm not really inclined to get sucked into.

* Though really more the general sentiment (which I've seen elsewhere) than the post specifically.

With so many people being angry about this, it would not be a smart business move to ignore somthing like that. So I'm sure they will fix it before too much damage is done. This would be a common place error message in SL after all.

But I can just see newbies with their first impressions if this wasn't fixed quickly. Or actually cept in an update.
If I was a newer-newbie again, like the one who didn't care about forums yet, then I would see all these objects giving me spam messages with "ERROR" written all over it.
"ERROR" is bad. "ERROR" is depressing. "ERROR" needs to go.
We've seen enough of that with some of Microsofts short lived Window clients. *hint hint*
So, if I was that newbie again, I would leave SL and take the whole thing for crap. Just cause nothing seems to work. :)

The only reason I can see to not fix an issue like this would be to run a company into the ground. LOLing as it falls.
:p

So I would assume enough Lindens know the kind of crap that error message will cause.
They can just look at these forums to get a small idea of the world wide reaction to it. :p

Addition:
I just saw in another post it was changed back already.
What a wasted post I just made. :)

Bumping old thread because of same subject.

New release notes:
/3/b8/98429/1.html

Animations after unsit by script broken again?
* Animation permissions revoked after you stand up from an object that was animating you*
Or does this only happen when you press the button yourself?

First, they do need to do this, but they're doing it in the wrong place.

They need to revoke animation permissions for objects not in the same sim after teleporting, whether you were previously standing on them or not.

They also need to make llStopAnimation fail silently rather than generating an error (icon or not).

Actually no - Animations stopping upon unseat is quite different from animation permissions being revoked upon unseat.

Different Issue - just checked everything and its working as it should
