Revival. Thought someone decided to trudge this thread through the dirt some more, thanks fot he comments. I obviously don't expect special treatment from LL, and it seems they're now going for rolling updates recently for minor updates which is great. I think the fact that server upgrades have taken many weeks shows that stuff isn't done manually, they aren't even on location with thier servers. So when a server blows up it takes awhile for the problem to be sorted.

For me it was just the time, smack in the middle of my day and the frequency, which is now no longer a problem. And it didn't affect just me, seems many regions were affected. This isn't an attack at the US, it just seems SL is very US-centric for a world-wide product. Time especially, most people time thier events for "thier" evening then wonder why half thier friends can't come. Some people are trying to reach everyone, but of course there is no way to please everyone I understand that. But it's nice to show you're trying =P

That was my genral comment, not a demand, not even a request =P

How do you know how much staff has to be present for an upgrade?
I'd guess it should be only one or two sysadmins...

You're obviously not in the software business then. :)

It's not a very difficult concept. LL is based in the US, as is the majority of its users. That's all there is to it. Just like if LL was based in the UK, I wouldn't count on their update hours to be of my convience.

Yes, LL COULD do something about it, but they won't do to being rather 'unreasonable', for lack of a better word.

Hey, just do what I do; go to bed at 6am and wake up at 2pm.

Student life is sooooo hard. ^_^

I think the fact updates occur so often although its nice to know the lindens are hard at work it does also kinda say " hey our code is er.. um.. never mind come back in 6 hours while we try and fix it "

Also I'm in the UK and yer it does suck when SL is offline and yer it does show that its my timezone suck for SL and I can leave if I want too but hey its a cool environment so I stay.

as for the european bashing posts.. its us europeans who bring culture to the game :)

I mean everyone has been pissed off at the people knocking the grid off but hey maybe they thought we where harbouring weapons of mass distruction?

1love.

If the lindens where really clever they would move the whole operation to China and target a wayy bigger market of users than the few willing users of USA and europe.

Why is it that people cannot reply reasonable to someone that raises a concern that they either disagree with or have no interest in?
I guess it is because they are, let me try to translate a norwegian word for it, dirtbags. When they say something, all the dirt inside comes out.

But to comment on the topic: We Europeans just have to live with it as long as we choose to participate in a US based service. I really don't think this is something to make a fuzz about. Sometimes it is the other way around, for instance for US users in the Sweden-based Entropia Universe (formerly Project Entropia).
