I actually think we should storm LL's HQ, drag them all out at gunpoint and hold a show trial.

Also, they should pay for my plane ticket to get there.

Trolls are great. They invalidate you with rude comments. Then they attack you when for exposing them. I can't wait to see what's next.

By the way, thanks to everybody that has agreed or disagreed with me, and contributed to this thread without resorting to rude comments/invalidations.

If you say you are going to provide a month of SL for $9.95, that is what you should provide.

Whether we pay or play for free, we are promised 100% access to the game. If we cannot access the game through no fault of our own, we deserve compensation. Anytime we cannot access SL.

I think we all should be demanding retrebution for this outrage.

It's strangely reassuring to know that no matter what forums you read on the internet, there will always be at least one troll in there stirring up trouble.

I think you mean restitution - but I do imagine your retribution is also coming.

Many people do not understand that a TOS is a tool for companies to protect themselves. The TOS is used in every major website and every major area of the industry.

I can throw anything I want into my TOS, and anybody that clicks on the accept button “agrees to my terms of service”. When they refuse to kiss my behind, I can pull up the TOS, and let them know, “By the way, it is clear as day here in writing. You did in fact agree to kiss my behind when you signed up for my service. “

The TOS is used to protect LL. If we pay LL good money, their TOS protects them from any legal requirement to compensate us for any loss of service “without limitation”.

It remains up to the judge and jury to decide what is fair, but the TOS is an important factor for their protection. Regardless, the TOS is of little relevance in this thread. It does not mean we cannot demand compensation. It does not mean they will not compensate us. It simply means there may be little we can do legally if they do not want to compensate us. So the TOS states that they do not “have” to compensate us. Who cares?

I'm glad you enjoy talking about yourself.

You do have a point. The fact is, that no matter what forums you visit, there is always a troll: Somebody that pops into a discussion with an irrelevant rude comment in attempts to invalidate somebody they disagree with.

Congratulations Polka.

This forum is full of them. Many discussions I visit are full of rude comments such as Polka's. It's easy to expose a troll. When you respond to a troll's rude remarks, their tactic is usually to try to turn you into the troll.

I don't attack people who do not attack me first. I do not make make instuling remarks at people's posts because I may not agree with what they say.
If you would like to know who the real troll is, take a look at the posters that made the first attack. I respond to trolls to expose them, and let them eat their own rude comments.

I think you're being ridiculous. Your cable might go out for an hour, do you demand compensation. our satellite tv goes out with weather sometimes..something beyond our company's control. Do we demand compensation? No, we don't. this outtage was not something they did..not something they could control. If you want a month's access to sl because of a few hours outtages, stay up the month straight connected first. And no nodding off, you paid for the service, remember?

Each time my Cable Modem went out I demanded a credit same thing with my DSL. I don't with Dish Netowrk because that is weather related. The other are just service interruptions due to people not doing their jobs properly. Service interruption that is not from nature and not affacting thousands, I demand a refund. There is the awesome theing about competition, if they don't give me what I want, I can cancel.

Do you deserve a service credit for SL being down? Maybe, this isn't the first time this service provider has failed LL. Since most of us don't pay, we get nothing. Three Cheers for freeloading!

I guess I am weird, but when I first read about the power outage and the need to restart the grid I kinda felt bad for Linden Lab. As understaffed as they are, having to put time and effort into responding to an event like this takes them away from more important things. Oh, and I do have a rather long list of more important things, if anybody from LL wants a copy :p

I doubt the downtime was 6 hrs, but perhaps for all the down time we have experienced so far for the week of 1/30 to 2/5, they might want to give us credit for a week or extend our month for an extra week.

I'm not saying that this will happen. This thread is more for people that feel that they have been short changed. We expect competence which means a game we can access 24/7 with no downtimes.

I have never played such a game, and I have played a lot. Business, I think your expectations may be a little unrealistic here.

I said "Yup" and pointed back at an earlier post of yours - I called you nothing at all. Do you need a hug? If I were there right now I'd give you a hug like I do my coworkers when they're having a bad day.

Denying reality is fun, innit?

Yes, ToS are not always enforceable.

However, they are to within reasonable expectations. This has been tried in court time and time again. There is no reasonable expectation of 100% service every second of every day - Things outside the realm of control happen. Provided they are quickly recovered from, it won't hold up in court.

I have some knowledge in this area.

The rest of the downtime is moot... sheduled updates aren't subject to the same rules.
