LL to resident communication has always needed some work. The announcement forums are great for those who look in the forums, but the bulk of residents do not look here. I really think an announcement/news section should be added, perhaps some kind of in-world inbox, one that only allows one-way communication from LL to resident?

Or instead, we could address the issue in a positive manner. If you don't like the thread, don't post, in fact, don't read it. |

Its more like if KFC took down your PAID add to place their own. That is a big deal and it is abuse. Hmm. Yes. coco _____________________

Oh, so LL actually removed someone's ad to place their own instead of moving it down a quarter of an inch? I retract my statement then, because that IS a big deal.

I really think an announcement/news section should be added, perhaps some kind of in-world inbox, one that only allows one-way communication from LL to resident? The F1 browser might be able to serve this function. To start with it could have a section with "Linden Current Announcements" added to it. One might have an option to have this appear when starting the program for those who like to keep up to date. _____________________

Or maybe have the MOTD say "New Linden Annouchment, press F1 to read."

All they did was input the information that they "paid" 50,000L to ensure their ad made the top of the list when no keywords are used. In fact they're not even at the top of the list anymore, others have paid more. Again, I still don't understand why pay so much? Every classified ad I post is 50L. I'm honestly curious about this. Can someone who pays upwards of 20, 30, 40K and more explain the benefits? I'm not judging, I'm asking as a business owner. Is it worth the cost? EDIT: ack caught my own they're/their goof, committed my own pet peeve! hehe_____________________

I don't know if paying more than 50L would reap better results, and I'm not going to test it to find out, either, lol.

Your reality is unique to yourself. Who had their ad removed? By posting their add they had to remove someone from the front page. If I had an add I paid 150.00 dollars for on the front page of my local paper, and they put me on the next page, to make room for their own add, my reality would be really pissed, in a not very unique way. |

One might have an option to have this appear when starting the program for those who like to keep up to date. I would have thought that LL-to-resident in-world communication is a must moving forward. Not everyone reads the forums, and it's not uncommon I will be speaking to someone just before an update that they aren't aware of. I was thinking essential announcements would go to everyone, things like updates, etc. Then the announcement mentioned in this thread could belong to one of a few optional categories that you can opt-in to, much like a newsletter, perhaps. I also think the offline IMs could do with some updating, with the possibility of having auto-responders, etc. I don't know how easy all these things are to implement, though. |

Removed from the front page is enough removal for me, but if you want to split hairs..... we will say pushed off the front page. Not intending to sound argumentative, but I don't understand this. It's all one page. A 50L ad is on the same page as a 75000L ad. Find places has more than one page, you have to click that "next" button to see more of the list. Admittedly I get all happy when my places get on that first page. But classifieds is all just one list you scroll through. Everyone is on the first page. _____________________

There is a big difference in the number of visitors you get if no one needs to scroll down. It's still on the first page, but there is a big difference. |

I agree... sometimes when I look at adds, I'm not really looking for anything. I look at the first few headlines and visit any I think look intresting. I'm sure there are at least 100 people like that in game, that's 100 would be shoppers that add may have lost thanks to Lindens.

Being that iis not the case, everyone in this thread that thinks this is an issue is insane. |

Ty McCoy: On my screen I am showing Pixeldolls was the one put below the scroll line, not at all one of the "little guys". I wonder if Neph is at all upset about this. Nah, not really. When I placed that ad, it was about 3/4 down the page. It got bumped by a lot of people with more desire to be there than I had long before this ad was placed. Piques me a little that the new ad that bumped it came from an account to whom L$ is a resource with less value than it has to myself, but them's the breaks. It could have been any add that bumped mine, the fact that it was a linden thing was pure chance. I don't LIKE it, but i dont think it's really worth feeling upset over. Like Iris said, its not like I'm going to go broke because this ad isnt on the front page. Sure, the front page is usefull, but its not *neccesary*. _____________________

I know for a fact based on what it says in my profile for the number of teleports that the difference is very substantial. Without needing to scroll down, I would get 50+ or more teleports a day, below that it would be half even if it was just a few below. It just nice to be able to pop up that high once in a while to get noticed. Much easier than getting higher up in the "find" option, at least for me as my store is too small to begin with. Also many do sell the same things I do, hair, clothing, skins. Why couldn't LL just pop their ad up at the top spot in the FIND menu? Ok maybe that wouldn't work. Why not put it in the message when you log into SL? There must be a better way of doing that than placing it into the classified ad where people pay to be placed to be seen and LL does not need to pay. I'm not upset about it, but its still not the right thing to do. |

If you made better products then someone who is higher on the list, I would buy your products. I find it really hard to believe that anyone would just settle for the first thing they see to save them a few seconds of teleporting else where or looking somewhere else on the list. Besides, what LL listed was a freaking contest. Either people are interested in it or not. Even if they were, that wouldn't stop them from checking out shops if that was their original intention. So there are a few reasons why I think people are crazy for complaining that LL put an advertisement for a contest that benifits the users of SL and does nothing to crush the hair selling business. |

I could sell the best product in SL, but unless someone sees it they're not going to know about it. I used it last week to promote my new skin. Please don't tell me that it was BS either when I'm using facts that I observed. I've used the classifieds for several months now and toyed around with certain positions to know what happens where. I'm also just pointing out some things I noticed and my opinion on the situation. That's all. |

The thing is theres a search tool, so being on the top of the list doesn't really matter much compared to the quality of your product. And no, I was talking just about you. I was talking about everyone who thinks LL posting a contest in their own game as a horrible thing to do is crazy. |

Posting OVER someone that PAID their hard earned money to be there, is a horrible thing to do, but I guess you wouldn't mind if you were at a restaurant and they seated the people that came in after you first, because they held stock in that place? If you wouldn't mind, then you probably wouldn't mind paying for somethign and getting less then you thought you would. Like 1/2 a pair of pants? and in that case... why post? |
