From: Kalel Venkman Great idea, but turning push off would also disable nearly all vehicles, levitation devices, and many other devices that depend on physics to work.. the problem isn't push, but the fact that the tool can be used as a weapon. That's why you won't see push turned off as a default, and why you likely won't see it even as an optional feature - it just breaks too much of the already limited simulation of reality we currently have. Popup "Object <name> owned by <avatar> wants to move you. Allow this?" "Yes", "No", "Always Allow", "Never Allow" ... not all that hard ...

From: Torley Linden Don't want to miss any of them. I know how bad it was inworld. I was just shot inworld in the ass by an alt on an alt. Thx. Wow, those guys must be great shots Thanks for the links to the proposals. #1386 looks great because it asks that existing push functionality NOT be nerfed just to give us an anti-griefing tool. I gave 1386 all my votes.

Anyone else find it funny that in SL you have to click "Agree" to be kissed or hugged but no one has to agree to be shot?
I think I will make something like that my new sig.

From: Cindy Claveau Wow, those guys must be great shots Thanks for the links to the proposals. #1386 looks great because it asks that existing push functionality NOT be nerfed just to give us an anti-griefing tool. I gave 1386 all my votes. I agree with your view - also, nerfing push would break a great deal of the already limited physical simulation available in SL, severely damaging the overall player experience. However, I also agree with crucial Armitage in that the PVP reporting shouldn't have been removed before a new system was ready to go. While the link to the reporting shield was a good thing to see, by the way, and is inarguably better than doing nothing, the idea suffers from two basic problems. 1. It still remains true that only collisions can be accurately identified as to who did it. Push, however, is something you can only make an educated guess at using LSL, so you can't rely on reports from this device being accurate. All you can tell for sure is that you have been pushed, but there's no way to determine for certain who - or what - did the pushing. 2. In order to have any measurable impact on griefing in general, you would have to distribute this shield to every single person in SL. Whether it is useful or not in individual cases depends completely on the Linden response to AR's, and we all already know how that works.
