That's genious. Do you have any idea how much this would help out new players to SL in general? Give em the stuff for free that they can't get at freebie posts?

Well it's not exactly free. They still have to work for it but yes!!

Dammit... you would find a way to drag me out of my own little world in SL....

:o :p :D

Personally, I'm fond of dystopia, the unhappy opposite of utopia, but as that's missing from the list, I cast my vote for post-apoc with cyberpunk running second to that.

However, would love to see, and roleplay in, a 1984-ish setting in SL. Victory Gin and Two Minutes Hate for all. Don't get caught or it's Room 101 for you! :D

I've half a mind to start up a Gor sim myself!

But this would be 'Gor' 1000 years after whatever's in the books, after the revolution. (No, I've never read any of it, but hey, they could have a revolution)

Only women and our furry friends are allowed to issue orders.

Misogyny of any kind will not be tolerated for one second, and anyone caught practising such will have to wear a pink satin tutu for a year, and constantly thereafter address himself as 'this boy'.

Visitors not having kitty ears will be immediately expelled.

Kitties of Gor, anyone?

That's the beautiful part of SL... Nobody could stop me!

note: for the humour-impaired, I am *not* likely to do this.

I think.

And the beauty part is, Anisa makes scripted neko parts... :D

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the d/s scene, period, but anything that encourages roleplaying is okay in my eyes. Well, almost anything. I mean, someone makes up something like 'McDonalds: The Arteriosclerosis', I'd be pretty meh about it.

Can I be a good mutant heheh, I'll have my fur clean and oiled, and my claws clipped!

I could accept the predjudice, knowing I have a chance to prove I'm worth more than a steriotype could prove fun heh.

While not 1984, a spoof, and still not fully complete, check out the sim Satyr. Oppressive cyberpunk industrial 1984 theme. Enjoy it.

So far, these ideas sound pretty cool. Another good reference for RP in Second Life is a thread I made way back when over here: /108/d9/90847/1.html

What? No Mage? No Exalted? No L5R?! Sorry not a big fan of the white wolf's more emo-esque games. :D

I still like the idea of a Dragonriders game :/

But then, that's pretty much all I've EVER RP'd... all in text base MUSH. The first thing I thought when I saw SL: "Pern! I can create PERN! I can... see... Pern! Build it!" ... then I realised just how expensive that would be ;P

A person can dream though, right?

Moving right along, I'll just keep an eye on this, or... is there really talk of a group? I'll join if so... I'd pretty well be interested in any of the type of RPG stuff suggested, though I'm a stand in the back and wait for decision to be made, and help where I can after that type of person :D

OK, I've kinda taken the first plan to a point in design. Now, give me a new concept.

I'd also like to look at a more sci-fi subculture as an option, with elements of anime.

I don't mind anything as long as there's a place for a big phoenix. :>

Heck, if there's anything Osamu Tezuka ever taught us, it's that there's room for a phoenix ANYWHERE! :D

How about an RP'd Chapel of the Phoenix? Worshipping a God of Rebirth since everything was destroyed and society is being rebuilt in a post-apoc world?

I want to roleplay a Human Being, but as of yet, I can't find any clear guidelines and rules that make much sense.

Phoo. The search continues.

SL has gotta have more RP possibilities than Gor, Cyberpunk, and Sex. :(

I'd even back the Pern idea if it was possible to actually blaze a trail through Anne's army of lawyers.

Elvenglen is all right, but it's hard to RP when OOC visitors attack. :(

Eldamar is a beautiful place for RP but it seems that no one is ever there. :(

I think this will be a lot more like The Elder Scrolls than you think it will be. Particularly, like Oblivion.

If objects and textures rezzed instantly, and with a *huge* draw distance, the pictures below are closest to illustrating what I would love to work towards creating:

Human beings rarely make sense, that's why the rest of the universe gave up on them after that whole Roswell mess.

There's a sim out there that resembles those images.

And the lag is horrible, you run into walls that haven't rezzed yet up to 4 minutes after you enter the sim. The entire island is a single, supermassive future city.

I'm envisioning a city design that mixes that sort of tech look with the layout styling from the Imperial City in Oblivion. At least on the sim.

I'm focused more on the RP community first. It needs to be able to work with or without its own sim before it's simmable.

I would love to be able to create something that is vast, something that just wows. unfortunately, that's just not possible at the moment.

To save on L$ and lag, I am considering a "zoning" concept, similar to home ownership in things like EQ2 or FFXI.

The city itself has "house towers" with multiple (hundreds) of homes in them. These actually would have teleporters at the doors that ported you just inside the door somewhere else. Homes entirely independant of the central sim, but linked to it, thus allowing use of Mainland in the absence of a Sim. Just an idea.
