From: Alex Fitzsimmons I don't see "b" at all. Grammatically speaking, Coco's statement cannot mean what you are suggesting in "b," ever, in any interpretation. It is an imperative sentence, issuing a command. And the moment we start allowing people's statements to mean anything, even things they could not possibly mean, is the moment all communication breaks down. Maybe Coco made a mistake, but if that's the case, the proper thing to do would be to admit the mistake. I guess you could look at Coco's post as the beginning of the end for all communication everywhere, but I think its safer to look it as a hastily written message. The servers for SL have enough trouble without some communication rapture bugging them too.

From: strife I'll see to it that LL sees this thread. What would really help LL right now are ideas on how to make things better, specificly well hashed out ideas.
I would really like to hear how people want the forums, how to achive it; what rules it would require. What is acceptable, what isn't. The tricky part is balancing what is good for the community and what is good for the individual.
This cannot be left up to LL to decide, it needs to be a joint effort. Lets give LL a push in the right direction. From: cocoanut First, get rid of the rule that says if you get a suspension or ban from the forums, you get a suspension or ban from the game itself. From: strife In the spirt of Coco's & Chance's posts; how about this: An intermediate disiplinary faze where the user isn't able to start threads and can only comment on threads; thier posts automaticly become half-hidden as Chance suggests... From: cocoanut Strife, just get rid of the rule. It's not necessary, it strikes fear in the very users LL needs to survive, and it's overkill.
No need to put in some kind of techy "solution", because there is no problem.... From: strife Don't ask me to get rid of rules; I cannot do it. They aren't my rules; don't put me on the defensive. Judge for yourself.

*sigh* I guess what I'm really getting at here is that I feel that how we conduct ourselves here sends an important message, one that LL is going to see before any other. If we send the message that we're really just overentitled, impatient adult children who are spoiling for a fight, any fight, that is the message LL will take to heart, and anything else we have to say will probably be dismissed as so much yelling, whining and fight-picking. I actually dislike the rule in question myself, and I feel that a lot of things LL has done just recently (aside from the changes to push, which I love) have been really, really poor -- the poorest I've seen since I started, honestly. But if we can't even be calm and civil about it, then how can we expect LL to listen or to want to communicate with us more? Would you? Anyway, I guess that's all I have to say. Sorry for making such an issue.

Did anyone else notice this is one of the only threads where everyone is agreeing?
