Maybe they can tell us about the hardships of growing up in the middle-class hood, with nothing but a 40 oz and Daddy's SUV to keep them going.

So true. Shit's tougher than you'd think, I mean, they make us pay for our own gas, and with the prices of gas these days and all... it ain't easy.

Cindy, thanks so much for those. I'm still learning everything I can about building/texturing, but I'm hopping onto the scripting soon thereafter. And Vivianna, thanks for the support.

Here's that video Beau mentioned:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=kS1Kh3pfgqU

That's on a small island off the east coast of Puerto Rico, called Palominos. I've had some of the best times of my life there, and I thought it'd be an interesting idea to bring the whole tropical boat-party thing to SL. That big boat in the middle right at the beginning of the clip has a DJ booth and gigantic speakers, and everybody's dancing and floating and drinking and just having a good time out in the sun. I've always wanted to somehow share the experience with people in other parts of the world, and this could be a start. I've been looking into the island's online status, I do believe there's WiFi on it (half the island belongs to a hotel resort), and talking to some sponsors about the possibility of doing something interesting. It's kind of a hard sell cause it's very difficult for some people to wrap their heads around what SL is and what it means for the future, but they're intrigued. The idea is to have simultaneous parties, and have some webcams streaming live video feed into SL from Palominos, and vice versa, maybe have some projector screens on the island showing the SL party.

That's, of course, a long time away, first I gotta build the boats, get the community together, learn to DJ, and make the party popular. That in itself is hard enough.

Meh, assuming that alot of these kids are middle or upperclass might be a mistake. I'm from Oakland, CA myself, and if anything, it's not very stable.

Fuck you grits, billxcore will pee in your butt.

and btw people, you cant really judge anything about a person by what they say on a forum or in a videogame..you think we act immature? well then you obviously havent heard of the huge community of online griefers by the name of myg0t.

After nearly 25 years of meeting people in forums and videogames, and then IRL... I can firmly say "Yes, you can fairly accurately judge a person by what they say in those places". (When I say 'fairly accurately', that means with about a 80-90% confidence level.)

The funny part is when folks who act like (bodyparts redacted) online get annoyed at you treating them like they are who they act and represent themselves as being.... It's like they've never learned that actions have consequences.

And btw cindy..why do you care how a few people play a game? sorry if we all want to have some fun and laugh and you just want to sit at home weighing 500pounds infront of your computer thinking you're e-superior over some people because you have a big post count and have played a GAME longer..

uhmm. wow. we got a 6 page thread dedicated to us.

its not real life, its a computer-simulation-role playing- thing for people to mainly have fun. i fully understand that people have gotten so sucked into this game that they rely on it for income, people that have put their real life on hold. for a good amount of people this is considered a videogame (im not saying that it is wrong to take it more seriously than that) but come on, if you wanted it to be so exclusive where people had to basically "virtually interview" in order to create an account then why not start a petition for it.. or hell even create your own Second Life program. i play to have fun and talk to my friends, i have been out of line in the past but recently i havent done anything to "disrupt" anyones "e-community".

im glad that everyone is almost at peace with the whole situation of us "12oz'ers" enjoying our time in the secondlife, but initially upon reading the first page.. it seems as though alot of you people are completely prejudging us by the first week we spent in what is deemed as "tour community". which is completely uncalled for and in the long run immature (ironic that's the same thing that we were called).

you all have to realize that, the "graffiti" community is a whole other culture we arent nec. like you or your friends. we were initially shunned because we were different. now is that the way to go about life? no. we have differnt lingo, different views, different oppinions. i would completely understand the basis of this thread if we started playing the game and went around and ridiculed everyone by calling them "computer nerds", "geeks", "losers".. etc. but we didnt.

this whole situation could have been settled much better and much quicker.. we are people too, why not just send us an IM in the game instead of making this thread that is 3 pages long and full of complaints before any of us have a chance to say anything... i know i have no problem talking to some one to explain myself, and im pretty sure no one else from the 12oz click has an issue with it either.

all and all..

dig deeper before you make claims.

This is mitch the snitch in 12oz. in SL - i'm mitch rote. come talk to me, i will show you the world in my eyes.

but in all seriousness - i've read everyone's comments for the most part enjoyed it.
heres a scary thought.
mitch is old...29 years old.
mitch is on a corporate mgmt team by day.
mitch is getting married next year.
mitch likes 12oz because it pertains to his past, present, and future life.

i'm a little drunk right now because i worked 13 hours today on a proposal for corporate tax services.

the point is you should welcome us, because we provide diversity. and if you think i'm 17 and stupid etc..etc.. read above. i'm as normal as anyone else in the **** real world.

My first project will be the ability to take a dump, so you can go anywhere you want, crouch, and lay down a steamy shit. Some club owner is being pissy, or someone's telling you to get off their land, and you have the choice to just take a fucking crap on their property.

OnnaYokai had that same idea almost a year ago! I tried to make it but for some reason it wouldn't work :-( Anyone want to help me finish the project? send a pm

I don't know why this guy is so full of himself. I made such a device long ago, as a litter tray for my cat avatar.

My eyes! My head! Don't ever make me go back to that thread! Hey, that rhymes, anyway..

I love some of the quotes I got out of it..

From: someone
it's not really a game. it's more of an "experience"

From: someone
i clicked 'sit here' and now i can't walk around anymore? wtf?

From: someone
your own personal demon. the possibilities are endless.

And many, many more.

I apologize if you found this insensitive, however as someone whose been through it all before, its funny to look back and remember how it was to start. Putting a boxed item on your head is something of a rite of passage now. Its something everyone went through when they started, and I do find looking back on it all amusing.

Don't worry, I'm not cool. In fact the reverse could be said.

Back me up Gabe? How uncool am I?

God can't help you with your deep desire for post count padding. You best get posting.

EDIT: I will vouch for the extreme lack of cool that is represented by Zap.
