There's not much to say here. People are going to believe what they want to believe (And I do mean *want to* believe.) I'm probably going to open myself up as a target here, but I'm going to try to keep this as common sense as possible.
I was one of the first 'furries' on SL. As in, #5 or so. I'm definitely not 'fringe' on SL.
There are folks in this thread who have known me for a while - and honestly, unless they were just looking to badmouth me: they could attest to the fact that I've never had any opinion on bestiality besides that its rather freaky and disgusting.
I run a PG furry area on SL - again, it was the first - and it's damned popular.
If it was "only about fucking", don't you think that we'd be administrating running a vacant lot?
Sure, there are messed up furries out there... But some of the crap that these supposedly "normal and accepted" folks are into would make you projectile vomit.
Set, if you're just trying to be a bad ass and cause trouble, that's one thing.
If you read one wiki entry and absolutely believe it's definitive, then that's another thing entirely.
I can say you're into Amish lamp-oil-and-wicker sex all I want. Doesn't make it any more true.
People are into things for all sorts of reasons. As Belaya said, it's a damned *metagenre*.
Not all "anime" people are into hentai.
Not all star wars fans write HanSolo/Luke Skywalker gay fanfics.
And if I see anyone with so much as an exposed nutsack in our 3-sim region, they'll be kicked out lightning fast.
Unfortunately I can't say so much for "normal, accepted" nonfurry areas where it's 'accepted' to see leatherboys lead around on chains by their genitals.
It's really got nothing to do with what kind of avatar you're wearing. I'm sorry that a couple of notions you got make the whole overset offensive to you.
If you ever want to have a talk with some of us who are, most definitely, not into that sort of thing, the door is open - until things get sophomoric, as they often do.

Wow. Way to let Set troll out six pages of posts that have little to do with the topic. Maybe if you argue with him more, you'll win! This thread consists of the sort of garbage that makes me question why I'm a furry at all. *applauds the first part* Goodness.. that's what "Ignore Post by this User" was invented. If you aren't going to convince him/her with the first few explainations, it's obvious they don't want to be convinced. On the second part... because the Furries look so darned cute, especially compared to the base avatar? And to Yiffy, I've seen members of both groups.. usually when I'm sitting on a prim in the sandbox. It's not /just/ furries.. it's anything that moves, but they do seem to pick on the Furries more. I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with them. As for 1.11.. It's in preview and when I checked both the Estate features or the About Land, I didn't see any sort of thing to turn off push for the land this time around. Hopefully, it's only that I just missed finding it. Frankly, I'd rather be able to toggle push on and off for my avatar. That way it won't affect those who want to go driving around. Thats it exactly. There's this idea that furries are obsessed with sex but its not even close to the truth. They are no more sex obsessed than anyone else. Yes sex is a part of their lives for SOME just like sex is a part of life for the rest of us, but it is not the whole picture. That is my outsiders take on it of course. I would be glad to be corrected if I'm wrong. Ding Ding Ding, nailed it on the head. There are several variety of furs out there. Theres the yiff yiff yiff crowd, but honestly if furry didn't exist they would still be doing what they do.... just in a different avatar. There are those like me, TMNT and starfox freaks who love the artwork and think the avatars are "Cool" looking (Each of my furballs has a backstory). But I also have a REALLY good human AV I spend about half my time in, my girlfriend is human (She does have a furry av ;P) and no we don't make out and carry on in the fur. There are the mystics with totem animals (Think native american style) who are trying in a way to become closer to their totem (To a point this one also fits me, Lupus). Theres werewolf fans.... The problem is some tool has latched on to a single aspect of furry fandom made famous by places like somethingawful and people like doug winger (Seriously I hate this guy). I am Lupus. I am Furry. First off in SL not everyone who is a fur is into the sexxors. Secondly the fur builds are some of the best in SL. Last but not least, even if they WERE all into the sexxors and the builds were not that great, it STILL wouldn't be an excuse for you, LL or anyone else to discriminate against them.
