Due to the fact that often our project gets mentioned in the General forums, and sometimes it is hard to wade through everything on there, I thought I would start a thread here for links to other forums were our projekt gets mentioned. Just to keep everyone informed. Feel free to add to this thread as you find other mentions. :)

Current threads I see on the General Forum:

Request for immediate Linden Lab action/oversight

Costume Party in Neaultenberg
/120/d8/27855/1.html

Yet another one. I don't have time this minute to respond to it, though I do plan to later today:

My beef with the Neualtenburg Projekt
/120/42/28011/1.html

EDIT TO ADD: pfft! I just learned that the above thread was created using the website http://www.pakin.org/complaint/ . A sort of joke, overuse of words site. So the thread is intended as a spoof so to speak. Take it how you shall. :)

This thread did not start out about Neualtenburg, but of course because one of our project members had an opinion, our project got dragged into it. :p If you care to see the responses:

Well, despite Ulrika's best intentions, another thread spiraled into talk about Neualtenburg. Sorry Ulrika. :( Whether I agree with you or not, I find it simply horrid that you can't speak up about issues in SL without someone trying to drag the project through the mud. It is not your fault, and I hope that you do not let them silence you.

That said, I wanted to give others a heads up about the thread I"m talking about. Just in case you want to read it and/or respond:

Is LL Subsidizing Our Exploitation?
/120/43/29427/6.html#post299443

Before the thread spiraled, it was actually a really good discussion. Even if you disagree with Ulrika on her points, it is a great read. :)

I troll our [Neualtenburg] group's forum while at work, because it gives me something to do. I can't imagine getting involved in all of those threads. That last one was a doozy. People don't seem to understand.

As long as they haven't influenced the Lindens I would say there's nothing to worry about, Pendari. The detractors just want someone or something to talk about, and since they've found this tiny thread of imagined impropriety they're coming after Neualtenburg. I think it's silly. They should have their own groups to concentrate on, and we should have ours. Endlessly speculating about a project that isn't even fully established seems a bit silly to me.

They should make up their own proposals for projects if they're jealous of Neualtenburg's supposed special treatment by the Lindens.

Well said Rock! :) And I'm not worried. I do feel though that since we make our project public, it is only fair to members that they get to see what others may be saying outside the project. *MOST* I think are very supportive of what we are doing, even if they are not members. I just like to keep members informed. By no means should you feel you need to get involved in the forums outside our own. I know it can be scary out there. hehe.. :)

Oh gosh. A thread with 500 posts...

This is going too far, in the past few days I have almost dedicated 20 hours per day to SL :) and it's impossible to keep up with it. And I'm usually considered a pretty fast typist myself! :(

Well, I'll browse a few of those links, Pendari, but I'm not sure if I can keep up with the amount of "posting" that goes on on these forums. I wonder if other online games suffer from the same problem :)

This reminds me, I have things like 4 emails to Robin Linden to reply to, and they're almost one month old... :)

LOL.

Yeah, that says it all, Gwyngwyngwyn. :) I would hope for a quick-n-easy summary of that thread, but it wouldn't do justice to all the detailed descriptions within.

I don't understand some of what happens in there, but I do like seein' Neualtenburg coming along. Better than "cake in the sky" (or is that "pie"?).

I, however, remain hopeful that the thread remains "civil" and about discussing ideas -- as opposed to attacking individuals. Quite a marathon!

haha! Well Gwyn, don't feel you *have* to respond to any of those threads. I personally just like keeping the group informed as I know not everyone is a forum junkie like myself. What you do with my information is up to you. :)

and Hey Torley! *HUGS* Hope you can visit us often! Always a joy having you around! :D

I've created a new General thread announcing our upcoming elections.

Voting in Neualtenburg, is it upon us?

Hmm yes, but on the appropriate ones, please - the classifieds :)

Prokofy is right on his comments, you know... unless things are worded differently (and not a blatant sales pitch), we certainly don't want Jeska or the other moderators to "ban" us from the forums because we're advertising on the wrong ones...

I would have, if it were actually a classified, which it is not. :)

There are three basic types of informational and promotional posts, an advertisement, a discussion, and an announcement. An advertisement belongs in the classifieds forums, a discussion belongs in the discussion forums, and an announcement belongs in an announcement forum -- if it exists.

If a dedicated announcement forum does not exist, then it is appropriate for either the classified or the discussion forums depending on the wording. In this case I carefully modified words from the web page to remove the first person and sales-pitch elements to provide information. I then added additional information on density and zoning, which I'm sure is of great interested to folks in the Land and Economy forum. The result is an announcement that is appropriate for a discussion forum.

Sometimes they are moved by moderators, sometimes they are not. However, never are posters banned and absolutely never are entire groups of members banned, if that's what you're suggesting.

The classified is awesome - hehe :)

As to the other one, I'll hush until Jeska comes around or someone flags that post as "abuse" - and then politely point her to your explanations above.

I'm sorry about this, but lately, with all the wars going on the forums, I've become a bit paranoid myself...

I see what you're saying. I'll keep it conservative and in the future I'll avoid putting announcements in discussion forums. I don't want to go back to the days of the controversial Neualtenburg.

"Controversy" is ok to an extent - it makes people read about us more :) Also, as we have seen in the past, it has a beneficial side-effect. Some people - the ones that do radical new stuff, and like to experiment with new ideas, models and projects - usually like controversy as well. Those have read things about us and most of them (including myself :) ) are part of Neualtenburg exactly because of that.

The difficult thing here is to make sure we're "controverse" and "polemic" enough to capture attention (we'll flag that with "innovation" which is more politically correct :) ), while at the same time showing the world in general how law-abiding we are, and how we keep apart from "drama". I think that lately we have managed to do that very, very successfully!

You were right. The thread was moved. :/

With that said, here's the latest attempt at an advertisement, this time properly posted.

I know I am late to say it, but thanks for this Pendari.
These were dramas I missed out on completely!

and I was able to add at least two more names to my big list of forum fools.
