Nice try, but it crashes at login or within a few seconds using recommended graphics settings, even after clearing cache. Texture memory slider only goes to 512M, but my card has 896M. Nvidia GTX 260 896M RAM.

edit:
Tried 178.13 and 180.48 drivers

Crashed 6 times in 1/2 hour

I could not stay in longer than 10 minutes at a time..then when I would relog it would keep crashing before I could get in. I just had to reinstall the 1.21 again in order to play.

Pretty much cannot use this viewer, crashes within first 10 mins. Not sure why. Seems like textures n stuff load a bit faster tho.

So far so good on my Mac 17" Dual Core/RadeonX1600.

Initially it crashed after about 15 minutes in-world, and I experienced a lot of lag with walking and vehicle movement.

After repairing disk permission and restarting none of this has repeated.

Flawless so far... Used it for around an hour (I think, I lost track of time :P). No crashes, no black avatar, no other problems. The disappearing attachments fix is greatly appreciated. Keep up the excellent work!

edit: as usual I spoke too soon. I do see black avatars every now and again, and it crashes when I leave the viewer minimised or in the background for lengthy periods of time.

Looking good so far.

There seem to be some noticeable performance improvements, especially in areas with many avatars.

I DO have black avatars, however, they tend to load one after another after a while so I'm not going to complain.

Keep up the good work :)

crash

Hello

I downloaded the new RC and I can't login. Everytime I load SL I crash. I believe it's probably the reconfiguration of my preferences, or system setting that it performed once I loaded it. Not exactly sure what the issue is, but I crash about once every 3-4 weeks, and today I've crashed more than all my crashes in the past put together.

I was curious if anyone else was having the same issue.

CDru

Every time when i login i crash in one ore 2 minutes. I have not even time to send someone a IM to say me SL client works not good.Hope soon there comes another client!
Me pc is new and all update automatic, and drivers...

CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2394 MHz)

The |RC should have installed alongside your normal client, you should still be able to use the standard viewer.

If it's gone, just download the normal viewer again and keep using that.

Holy FPS shock :O about a quarter increase in frame rate in my common areas.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2400 MHz)
Memory: 6142 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (Build 6001)
Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2
OpenGL Version: 2.1.8086 Release

CPU is an Intel Q6600, don't know why SL doesn't pick up on that.

Got the same black avatars issue as others here, but it's only for a few seconds while it's loading so I'm more than happy to live with it. And I love the yellow dots on the minimap for friends :) great addition, might be nice to add to the main map as well. Sad to see that I can't set a Texture Memory higher than 512MB now, usually have it at 1000MB which helps my performance a bit. Been online for about 3 hours now, no lockup or crashes, smooth sailing *2 thumbs up*

MAC 1.22 RC0 downloaded disk image does not mount
11-21-2008 06:16
I donwloaded (twice) the 1.22 RC0 viewer, SecondLife_1_22_0_103345_RELEASECANDIDATE.dmg, and on my OS X 10.4.11 Intel iMac it does not mount.

Instead, after a delay I get a popup window that says:

Warning

The following disk images failed to mount

Image Reason
SecondLife_1_22_0_103345_RELEASECANDIDATE.dmg Device not configured

Continued Crash while Loading World
11-21-2008 06:30
Downloaded the new viewer first thing this am - upon first start.....loading world..program closes instantly, no warnings or errors given. Ok, I think...just some connection fluke. Successfully logged in for over an hour with no problems inworld that I have seen noted here. Logged out for a few minutes, now after almost 10 tries, I can't get past Loading World again..program instantly closes! :(

I think I will wait for V1 or V2 of this. I don't mind running RC because it helps SL get the bugs out. But I do expect it to be at least mostly functional before going out the door.

You guys should consider having two people run on ATI and Nvidia hardware and follow a script of things to do, all of which must work before the RC gets released. That will catch 90% of the bugs early where it is far cheaper and easier to correct them.

And which RC version will start to have seperate threads for Cache, network, Graphics and UserIO? That's the one we multicore users are aching to run.

I also crash every time edit is attempted. Show stopper -> RC -> Trash bin.

Edit mode is such a basic feature. It looks like there is ZERO quality assurance going on. :(

I was finally able to get it to run without crashing by disabling the watchdog. I thought I had done that earlier, but guess not...

1) The fault produced a few issues back for 3Dconnexion Space Navigator still remains to be put right.
IE
The indecator for FlyCam (right hand button) mode is still missing.

2) Grey people are now black people whilst they rez. An interesting change.

Tessie-
I cannot reproduce this, nor has our QA team seen this on multiple hardware. But perhaps it is something related to SL on your configuration. Can you file a bug at jira.secondlife.com, and post your Environment from Help > About Second Life... ? Then, just give us simple steps to explain what you do right before you crash, like 1. Rez a box, 2. Set for sale. 3. Right-click....

Ramzi, I want to express my appreciation for this new release candidate. I haven't had nearly the amount of lag that I had with either 1.21 or the regular client and the settings are exactly the same.

I haven't noticed any new bugs at this time, but I'll keep smacking at it until either I do or until you release a new client :)

When changing the texture on multiple linked prims when I click on a texture in the texture picker the whole linkset becomes invisible for 2-3 seconds until the new texture rezzes.

Useless

Can't run the program at all. It just pops up an error message about "application configuration" and nothing fixes it, including the recommendation to reinstall.

But then, I don't know if the blasted freeze when clicking texture window bug has been addressed yet, so it may not be useful to me anyway.
