Dante, can we please have "Teleport to sandbox" in the rolling restart warning dialogs, along with a "Teleport back" dialog when the sim comes back up? Having rolling restarts trigger when a sim is empty, and only forcing through restarts after 48 hours or so, would also be good... have even made a JIRA for this one: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4634

From: Xugu Madison Dante, can we please have "Teleport to sandbox" in the rolling restart warning dialogs, along with a "Teleport back" dialog when the sim comes back up? That assumes most people would want to teleport to a sandbox.. What might be better is to have a viewer hotkey that would bring up a quick-TP list of your 10-20 favorite LMs and let people go where they want. Having a restart warning (rolling or not) message trigger this list popping up might work but I probably wouldn't vote for it - just having quick access to my favorite places would be enough for me. Either way, a JIRA (in VWR) is the place to suggest this, if it hasn't been already. From: Xugu Madison Having rolling restarts trigger when a sim is empty, and only forcing through restarts after 48 hours or so, would also be good... have even made a JIRA for this one: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4634They've tried a few different methods over the years. I think the current scheme of going by host numbers is probably going to be LLs favorite, mostly because it's a lot easier to keep track of what's already been restarted than other methods.

I really don't see why people can't just pick a landmark and TP when they get the 3 minute warning that the sim is going down. Why do you need LL to give you a TP Invite too? Next I suppose they should make you a snack while you wait for the sim to come back up, or maybe a massage. I bet you could get them to mow your lawn as well. [smirk]

... what exactly is wrong in this picture?
That's not what the throttle is for; it's meant to limit bots. The fact that failed teleports count toward the threshold is a bug, and we'll be relaxing the threshold in 1.27.1. We'll revisit the threshold when we've deployed code to address that bug. limiting bots is good, making it where my sim performance drops to 1/8 of its normal performance EVERY TIME someone TP's in and out is INSANE. (I run the sim performance scanner hud at all times...so i am seeing it coincide with the my Emerald viewer built in sim radar..X tps in, sim drops, X tps out sim drops, and so on and so on) Being in Zindra, we have not only Employees/Guests in and out, we also still have people site seeing and exploring, so the traffic in and out is insane.. Hard to run a business when every few minutes the sim slows to a crawl up and down. (not just the TP's but as someone else said... the flyby-border crossings is nuts) Also.. is that going to fix the (???) has entered the sim (???) has exited the sim issue? ~Brie

Open the stats bar, expand the sim fps stat and stare at it while you fly in circles. You'll notice the stall when somebody TPs in because you'll go flying straight for a bit instead of flying in circles - it takes updates from the sim to make turn while moving. Anyway, watch what the sim fps says when the stall recovers and you snap back to flying in circles. I just watched this happen a few times at my home and, going by the stats bar, the sim just had a small dip in fps, even though I had a solid 10-count of the sim being stalled.. If you (or LL!) have stats on sim performance based on what the sim is telling you, they're waaaaaaay off.

Note About the Bulk Permissions fix
07-29-2009 07:29
One of the bugs fixed in the current 1.27.1 deploy is the bulk permission bug documented in SVC-4444.
It is important to note that this will only fix the behavior of the bulk permissions feature when used and applied to a selection. It will *not* retroactively fix incorrect permissions on existing objects.
If you think you may have objects with incorrect permissions, please verify your objects by rezzing out the content and checking the next owner permissions. If they are incorrect, you should re-run the bulk permission change once 1.27.1 has been deployed.

Could that be because updates to either the HUD or the sim stats in the viewer are delayed while the sim stumbles, then when the sim snaps back to life you get the last second or so of the recovery data?

Looking at the Gris Status page, it appears the pilot roll was skipped this time, and you are doing half the grid this morning. Is this correct?
Also, can you tell us if it is even or odd hosts getting restarted today?
I assume the restart of the pilot roll regions will depend of their current even/odd status, meaning not all of them will get a restart today. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
Thanks.

Is anyone else having issues with sim crossings on 1.27.1? FurNation Hell, Alpha and Vista seem to disappear when crossing into one of them (causing a drift and logout) and they can't be "seen" from each other either. Another estate manager has confirmed that the sims are just ocean, but teleporting into them seems to be fine.

Here is a strange one:
My region was getting restarted, and I logged out. When I logged back in, my region was already up, and as soon as I rezzed I got a blue window that says:
LindenDollar_BadClockSkew
That is all it says except for an OK button.
Think this is anything that we should be worried about?

On another note, one of my sims has been down nearing an hour and a half.... Ticket submitted.

Either way, anything that's measuring sim performance and using that stat to do it has been very wrong on high-traffic regions for at least the last couple months..

Think this is anything that we should be worried about? I had fixed that a while ago, after we started getting reports of it. Are you still seeing those errors?

Search Places not fixed?
07-29-2009 11:47
I assumed that the 1.27.1 version would contain a fix for the bug in Search places, where you can't search on anything else than Any category now. The JIRA SVC- 4577, is mentioned in the realease notes and that would be the same problem.
The present situation, combined with the places that are still full of bots taking up the first half of the page in categories, makes it hopeless for customers to find the store they are looking for, and for us that runs a business to reach customers.
Will there be a fix for this or is this a way of silently closing down the different categories in place search?

Search for waterfalls under Places
07-29-2009 12:43
I use viewer 1.23.4, I Search for waterfalls under the Places tab. Searching Any Category works fine, but shopping (or any of the other alternatives) gives me the searchresult (none).
I've seen suggestions to uncheck some of the checkboxes for PG, Mature and Adult. I've tried every combination possible of those and still the same result.

I would say that my business is off today by more than a half, but the last time I said that on a rolling restart day I was informed that I was wrong, and that in-world business was actually much better on a restart day. So if I can always tell that a restart has happened by checking my sales, as I just did today, I guess I must be crazy.
So, when's the next one?

That looks like a bug. We'll look into a work-around tomorrow. Thanks for bringing it up.
