1.what is your gender? Female
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? No never
3.why or why not? I've never had the desire to & even if I did, I don't think i'd pull it off at all.
4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? No never
5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? Of course; as someone said above, whether we realise or not we all do it
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? I hope not! Not sure how you mean?
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? I'd like to think i'd treat them as their character appeared, as that's who they are within SL, but I suspect when chatting to them maybe I would treat them as their RL self
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? No; I don't use any other games & prefer to be something/one I can relate to & not feel i'm acting

1.what is your gender? Female 2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? No, though I do dress an alt up as a guy occasionally if I am bored and want to dance formal....thats not wierd is it? Oh, and i have quite a few avs which are Gender non-specific... 3.why or why not? I don't think I could function pretending to be a man...also, it would be ultra wierd... 4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? No. If they want to portray another gender, I will treat them as that gender....I take people at face value...well I try to most of the time lol. I have been accused of being a bloke though....that wasn't fun 5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? Yes, to an extent...I treat everyone as though they are a friend, but some things you just automatically do depending on gender.... 6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? Do you mean trying to get free stuffs etc? I bat my eyes and act ultra girly and bimbo sometimes as a joke. Does that count? And I haven't done it in a while, and....well, it was funny, but only because they knew i was joking. I wouldn't do it seriously... 7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? No. Like I said, I go off face value....if they want to appear male, I treat them male...if they want to appear female, I treat them female. It gets tough not to treat alts the same as mains though. It gets harder the more I know someone....One of my freinds switched to a female alt as a joke and to show me some nice outfits...I still treated her (him?) as the main person, because she (he?) was talking the same, and using voice.....hearing that voice coming out of that avvie....well that was an experience I will never forget lol. 8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? Does the Sims count? Otherwise, no...I tend to choose female in all games I can...when I have the option. Of course there are times when you dont have a choice who you play, and I dont really mind. If I am interacting with people, I try to stay female...lol.

1.what is your gender? Female
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? No.
3.why or why not? I'm just not that interested in it.
4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? Not specifically, though I don't doubt for a moment that there are many avatars who are not the same sex as their players. Honestly I don't think about it much when I am interacting with people in second life; I interact with the person I see in front of me.
5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? I try not to, just as in real life I try not to. I am not aware of anything I do differently based on sex. How I treat people is dominated by how I perceive their individual personalities; I can't really generalize for sex.
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? Not that I am aware of. But then, people don't seem to perceive me as a sexual person; I am never hit on and rarely even flirted with. I'm not sure why this is; it may be because I have blue skin or because I tend to dress modestly; for whatever reason people seem to treat me as their sister rather than a target for flirtation. So if I tried to bat my eyelashes or otherwise take advantage of being a woman (whatever that means) I doubt it would be very effective.
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? I don't think so. I just interact with the person in front of me.
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? I don't think so. Same reasons as here - I just have no interest in playing a male avatar.

From: foehn Breed But we love telling on ourselves! This alone I think explains why this has gone to 7 pages! I read page one a couple of hours ago and thought I'd launch into how loaded and vague some of the questions are but coming back to it I've discovered others have pointed out my objections already. I have now more patiently read through some of the posts and find a lot of interesting, thoughtful and some outright amusing opinions. Boy! I love you guys ..... gals ... whatever! OK, here goes: 1.what is your gender? M 2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? Consistently. Three to be exact. 3.why or why not? Someone else beat me to saying 'why not?' 4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? Not often but then I'm not the gender police. People in glass houses and all that. I've always assumed that people want to be treated like the gender they portray. Who am I to argue? 5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? So many have said they treat the avatars like they would the real people. It's an odd one. That is to say, I worship the female form. When I first registered, I played a female not realising quite what SL was about on the premise that it was better to follow a shapely female ass around a virtual world than a scale model of mine. I am still of that opinion! Sooo, I'm more ready to launch into deep conversation with a gorgeous female avie than a muscular male one. On the other hand, I'm always willing to talk to day-one default Ruths and Rodneys regardless. 6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? This is so vague. I love Claire's take on this with the fluttering of eyelids but as someone else pointed out, is this about sex? If so, on a scale starting at a harmless flirtation at Frank's dressed in tux and ballgown to a two-hour wrestling match in Bukkake Bliss, at which point have you taken advantage? 7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? Well, yes. As I said in 4, I've always assumed that people want to be treated like the gender they portray. Who am I to argue? 8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? Simply can't answer this. I can't imagine another environment where I would wish to. Now, if this was a serious poll for research, there should be clear, concise statements with 'temperature boxes' ranging very true to very false or scales of one to ten but what the heck, there have been some very interesting posts.

1.what is your gender? Unequivocably female
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? No. well, hmmm...I have some non-human avs...not sure what their genders are, or if they have one...but to answer the OP's question, no.
3.why or why not? Because
4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? I don't really think about it at all. If someone looks female, I assume same.
5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? Well yes, of course! Boys will be boys, girls are, well, girls.
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? Sure. "Honey..can you move this pond for me?"
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? nope
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? Well. In some video games I played in the past (mostly Star Wars-related), I don't recall being given an option to choose my character, so I did play male characters...does that count?

1.what is your gender? Female 2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? I have played AS a male in other games where there was no female choices available. I've not played a male in SL or role played any male character. 3.why or why not? See #2 No real interest in pretending to be a guy... sounds kinda boring lol Too shy. 4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? Only when the signs are too hard to ignore. 5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? Sometimes... depends on the situation and what I think they're motivation is at the time. 6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? ABSOLU... umm... yes 7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? No. I have several female friends that are confirmed male in RL and it doesn't bother me one bit. A good person is still that requardless of what AV they use. 8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? No, not more likely. I would only use a male character if there wasn't an option to be female. Most popular FPS games have no choice to be female... pick one.

1.what is your gender? Female rl/sl
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? Nopers
3.why or why not? 3 reasons I like being a girl, I stick with what I know, and dont think my honey would like me being a guy.
4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? Nope I take them at what they are.
5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? Hmmm never thought about it. Might have to get back to you on that one.
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? I can say no on that one. I like to do stuff myself even though some stuff scares the willies out of me like terraforming, ok on that one I did ask for Xerxes to do that only cause I didnt want large craters in the land lol.
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? Hmm since I take them at what they are I dont know if I would or not.
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? Nope dont play no other games.

Question #1. RL male, SL male or machine
As for the remaining ones: this is Second Life its randomness is the best part, almost every one here is open-minded, I don't judge

100% Male Have a few femme shapes/skins for modeling clothes that I design.. and I photoshoot myself in hiding, so nobody sees me in drag. although I did go into a club once as a hott vamp just to joke with some friends. I did dress as snow white in RL for $100 for a day.. and it was worth it But I left the mustache

1.what is your gender? In RL I am female with a male avatar
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? I always use a female AV in SL but I don't see it as opposite as I see myself as female
3.why or why not? I have to put up with a male body in RL so I am not going to do it in SL too.
4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? I try not to assume anything.
5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? No.
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? Not sure what you mean.
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? No.
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? I always pick female players in any game if they have the option.

1.What is your gender? Female 2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? Not when I had a choice. 3.Why or why not? It's just not appealing to me. 4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? Sure, but it doesn't matter as long as they're not trying to start a romance or 'mak sexxies.' 5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? I do my best to treat people the way they present themselves. 6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? 7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? No. My best SL friend plays the opposite gender, which I didn't know for a long time and really didn't care when I found out. Still the same person, after all. 8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? Not unless I had to in order to play...my WoW, CoH, and LotR 'toons have all been female too.

6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender?
What on earth is this one supposed to mean? Sexually? Or by some other means? I have Trout lift heavy boxes for me and open jars of jelly. I also got him to fix my dishwasher and explain the infield fly rule to me. I think I'm taking advantage of him because he's a guy, but I'm not stopping until he mows the lawn and takes out the garbage.

1.what is your gender? male
2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? yes
3.why or why not? Because my current RL situation doesn't afford me the opportunity to express that.

5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? no
6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? no
7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? I treat them as they present themselves...which is what I'd like in return.
8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? This is not a game...this is my second life.

From: Ann Launay Maybe like, have you gotten horny newbies to buy you stuff because you have a hot female av? I have an average male avatar, but somehow I got insanely hot females to send me slutty pics of themselves. Does that count as taking advantage of my avatar's gender? It wasn't on purpose, I promise! (the taking advantage thing - I solicited the photos on purpose.)

1.what is your gender? My sex is female in RL. Gender isn't much of an issue for me. 2.Have you ever played a character of the opposite sex? Yes, any gender. Been doing RPGs for over 20 years and have always played all genders. 3.why or why not? Because I can. 4.Do you often suspect anyone else of playing a gender not their own? Oh teh liarz!!!1 No, it's not my business anyway. 5.Do you treat players differently based on their avatar’s gender? Why should I? I don't treat RL people differently just according to their gender. I'm bi, I feel attracted to people as people, not because they're a particular gender. Maybe that has something to do with it. No. I don't have that much of an idea about my own gender-I think I'm just not much gender specific in general, if you take gender as "socially assigned sex". 6.Have you taken advantage of your characters gender? There's an apostrophe missing here. And seriously, has the concept of capitalisation died or what? No, I only take advantage of my job. 7.If you know someone is playing a character of a gender not their own, do you treat them differently? Not my business. No I don't. I have friends who are transgendered-that would mean you treat someone differently pre and post-GRS??? The same person? Never. 8.Would you be more likely to play a character of the other sex in another game? If so, which one(s)? Why? No, Same chance everywhere.
