Men's clothes are terrible

I have spent the last three days shopping for men's clothing for myself and have virtually nothing to show for all the time I've wasted.

First, many of the ads on the new search are bogus. You get there and they don't have what they advertise. They advertise men's clothing and when you get there, they have tattoo's and a few other things and not clothes. Thery have two or three pcs of clothing. Or even other's just a few t-shirts and torn jeans.

The thing I see the most is non-mod clothes. If I walk into a shop and I see non-mod clothes, I don't stop to check, I walk right out as I won't buy any clothes non-mod. I have spent too much on clothes that are badly made or ill fitting and since they're non-mod there's nothing you can do to adjust them so you're stuck with them as they are.

I'm not new I've been here a while now so I know about the shops and the clothes. But nowadays they don't have shops like before. The shops now don't have clothes like before. They seem to of gone backwards instead of forward with men's clothes. They're terrible at best.

You can't go wrong with some of the more established names like Pixel Dolls and Little Rebel... I've also gotten my alt some things from Renegade.

I think one problem is the way clothes work in SL. The avatar mesh (non-prim) clothes don't look as good when they aren't skin-tight. In RL, not many men's clothes are worn like this. When women's clothes aren't form-fitting, they are usually skirts... note how non-prim skirts are not so popular.

Blaze and X2 are where I have bought the majority of my clothes, the ones I wear most often anyway.

Relax has always been good, but their latest offerings are the best men's clothes I've seen in SL.

For shirts that are tucked in and have a normal-looking collar, try Dan Senyurt's. They can be tucked in and look correct regardless of the pants' waist height. The texturing is very good. For a slightly-dressy look without a tie, you can't beat one of Dan's shirts with a jacket from one of Blaze's suits.

FNKY's jeans are mod and look good. Jeans need more modification than other clothes, especially to make them look correct with various shoes and boots.

I also like FNKY's shoes, but they're expensive.

Blaze for suits, ties, and tuxes

Redgrave -- The new boots are exceptional

Read the reviews at http://www.slmen.com/ and http://www.second-man.com/. Both seem to be a little too nice to the designers, but you can get some good finds through them.

Blaze has one tux I like and all the dresses seem to come with a "tux shirt" that I didn't immediately realize what that was about. That "tux shirt" with a dress is to be given to the man so the man has a tux shirt that matches the dress. Hehe. Didn't immediately catch that. :)

Simone also had some good male clothes when I was looking to outfit my male alt during my now mostly finished experiment.

Unfortunately, I do not seem to have taken many pictures of him and so do not recall all of the places where I found clothes. I did find a lot of places, though, by looking at men's clothes on OnRez and Slexchange. I recommend doing a search on both instead of trying to get the SL search to work. Then you would get a picture of the clothing and a possible place to look in world.

BareRose has a mens section as well.

As for the new Search; yeah, it sucks. Though if you get off teh ALL tab and use the PLACES tab, you get better results. For right now, we have both methods of searching. I weep for the day LL takes away the old system, because this new one is about as useful as a screendoor on a submarine.

There's also the Second Guy mall, which has a pretty good selection of clothing designers. Make sure to use the landmarks to the main stores of whichever ones suit you.

I've found better stuff by following search to a store, then walking to nearby stores.

If you enjoy shopping, then shop for the sake of it and consider any finds to be lagniappe. If you really don't like exploring the offerings, using the fashion blogs cited above will net you some good stuff while wasting minimal time. Good luck!

I took my guy to UK Corture yesterday. Their men's section is upstairs, I couldn't find the stairs so we flew up. Very stylish and up to date.

I will send you a notecard with Victorian/Steampunk/Goth inspired men's clothing. I am uncertain whether or not this is of interest to you, but perhaps you'll find it of interest. It has been my personal mission to acquire and find some of the best gentlemen's clothing in SL. It's difficult, but not impossible. Good luck!

Sincerely,
Elric Anatine

UK Couture is good, never had a problem with it myself but UK Couture items are no mod. However they are very well made and it's never been a problem for me.

Well...with all the women in SL surely you couldnt ask your favorite girl to take you shopping? Women i here know where all the good places are. when I first started out two of my partner's best friends took me shoping and helped me spend ALL my money! Thanks to them now I have a pretty extensive wardrobe, a nice avi shape and skin, I even have an awsome convertable Dodge Viper to cruise around in!

Heya Carlos :) if you ask me mens fashion in sl is pretty good now, it maybe used to be mostly female but there is some awesome stores for guys now too.

heres a few of my favourite places, my styles vary quite alot depending on how i feel but im sure theres alota stuff in these that you'll love...

Hair: Naughty and Armidi are the best for guy hair in my opinion, i prefer Armidi, Armidi are always bringing new stuff out too where as ND are slower. Aitui has some nice styles too, Etd has like 5 guy styles but not the best, they might suit your shape well though, havent seen you. Kin is all womens hair but one or two styles work fine on guys too. Cake has funky hair, i dont like it too much but if ya a funky monkey you might . Random, Sinistyle, The Good Life, hair styles by tami mcCoy are a few others you might like.

Clothing: soooo many great places, Its hard to pick favourites because i love alot of um and its not important what i love, im sure your style is different than mines so ill just list some stores....redgrave, elephant outfitters, AB Apparel, Hybrid, The Good Life, Moderno n Last Call, GLAM n Indigo, Relax, HCT, Shai, TRUTH, About, 141, FORM, Frangipani Designs, hoorenbeek, American outfitters, Gearshift, Naughty Island, Renegade, canimal, sidewalk, savvy, aitui, Armidi, blaze, DMC, FNKY, Gritty Kitty, sinistyle, brogear, gisaci, The Block and Glass Earth too got alota small nice stores in it.

Shoes: Redgrave, shiny things, FORM, bb, Renegade, savvy, gearshift, FNKY, Armidi, Sinistyle, steve hansen shoes are a few good to great stores that sell at least one kinda shoe

Hope you have fun shopping! Redgrave is prolly the best of the bunch for quality, but most expensive too, a shirt at renegade is like 80L, redgrave sweaters are about 400-450L

Merry Christmas too goober!
