Matthew, so in other words you admit that all age verification systems have problems and that none of them can absolutely verify someone's age in a foolproof manner. Many people would be shut out by CC based system since not everyone has one or can get one. I think no matter what system LL decided to use people would still find fault with it.

Yes - and I've never said otherwise - although the system I described above whereby you make certain assertions about yourself and get other people/organisations to vouch the veracity of those assertions, and people base their belief in those assertions on the resulting chains of trust show promise. However, LL is effectively replacing an imperfect system but one which many understand and hence know its limitations and therefore can use informed judgement about trusting with a system which a) is less reliable, has more problems and raises more concerns (e.g. re privacy) than the existing system b) is less well understood so makes it harder to make informed judgements about trusting it c) is being advocated and promoted as better and thus is in danger of giving false sense of security As I mentioned doing nothing is a more viable option than doing something worse - especially if the something worse is under a guise of something better. Got it.

If there is some ground breaking news on this, please start a new topic; this one has gotten to that point that it needs to end. You may quote or reference this thead in future threads.
