I discovered that you can spend two hours bouncing around the mainland roads, stark naked on a spacehopper, without meeting another soul.

Not to derail the "Bis have more choice" thread, but I was wondering whether extended roads are any real use in an environment where teleporting is ubiquitous (the only time I couldn't use tp for any length of time I couldn't get across the boundary of the sim I was in by walking, flying or anything) and redeployment of the land would be better than offering highways for pursuits which could be just as well done on non-blacktop routes.

I am not trying to be contentious, honestly, just wondering.

Don't be silly. Then they would be wearing Asslights.

I always thought that was what they were called since most who seem to wear them are...

Why people need top wear the "face lights, body lights". They do nothing to make the AV look better when they are going through the AO poses.
I have been tempted to ask the person if they really do think the sun shines out their arse .

Ditto! Bad face lights ruin people's builds. I can't believe how bright some people's are and they don't even notice. The good news is, in the RC1.21 you will be able to shut off other people's attached lights. Yay!

Roads are for cars and motorcylcles. It's fun. You should try it.
And have you ever tried to drive a vehicle across the mainland NOT on a road? It's impossible. Too much jagged terrain and too many ban lines.

Hopefully you'll also be able to log in and not crash :)

I like roads - when I first joined I used to roam about a lot. Only problem is rezzing a vehicle next to one really.

Going from the sublime to the ridiculous ... I admit I'm surprised by the number of women who are bisexual. If only it were like that in RL, back when I was young and single! (Perhaps it was and I just didn't know it.)

Of course, yes, I do figure that a significant number of these are RL men. But the proportion is surprisingly high even if I restrict it to those who I have good reason to believe are RL females.

Not to mention how kinky so many are ... but of course, kinks are easy to enjoy in SL where there are no practical issues to interfere.

I'm also surprised by the number of people who get intensely jealous or posessive. But I shouldn't be, that's just us dragging our emotions along with us, and without that what fun would it be anyway?

Sorry for dragging the conversation into the gutter, but gutters can be fun. :)

Me too. I thought I was pretty wild in RL and had a exotic erotic past but SL has left me facing my vanillaness..shocking really. After the initial surprise, I found it quite freeing and discovered that I was not as kink free as I first thought.

Also surprised so many men choose to be women..I suppose cause they like watching an attractive woman do stuff. Though I do understand the urge to upgrade.

I know a man who decided to change to a female avatar, simply because a LOT of women in SL either (a) want to partner, (b) want to be supported, or (c) hope to take a relationship to RL. He had created an extremely nice looking male avatar and couldn't keep the women away. While that may sound like a treat to many, this man is married, and all he wanted to do was play the game, maybe get laid occasionally, and just have a good time. After the third woman "fell in love" and wanted to partner after their second date and started asking about RL issues, and suffering a broken heart when he reminded her that he was married and that wasn't changing, he gave up. He became a female avatar and hasn't looked back.

But most people's facelights are faaaar too subtle. Little dim things that don't do any good at all. I mean, if you're going to wear a light, make it a LIGHT. Someone recently gave me one that fits the bill completely:

Have you tried a face light? I have and I love what it does for my Av. There are no shadows on my av face and she looks awesome whenever and where ever she is. I think face lights are awesome and everyone should have one. I guess its personal preference.

I have and removed it they are also very bad for causing lag. Try changing the settings to day if you want to see your face

I have ponder why some people have it harder then others, i.e in rl children living on trash, some kids and Adults have one episode after another in their life that makes them feel put down or bullied, etc while others have never experienced others being critical of them, usually have one success after another, seem to have more positive things happen then negative.
Those people probably would also see SL in same way but I don't know.
But think some people are better at not see mistreatment and only see the good, while others have become more sensitized to looking and experience negative things regardless of their reality SL or RL.
Not sure why I know I tend to see the negative more then positive myself.
I have never been good at creating new realities regardless of the reality I am in.

Hi FD, I wanted to address this because I do understand what you are saying. But I have a different perspective maybe.

In my RL I've had a very difficult time, I spend almost all of my RL completely alone because of the prejudice and bigotry and betrayal and just down right nastiness I have experienced in my life. So My RL sucks very badly.

I came into SL with no expectations that anything would be any different, but from the very beginning I have been greeted so warmly and openly and accepted by everyone that it has changed my RL perceptions and attitude.

I'm very thankful that I found SL and the wonderful people I have met along the way.

Sorry for the rambling nonsense. LOL

Hahahaha. TFF. Love it. This is really what some people are walking around ALL the time wearing except the invisible version. Seriously. You go to a nice dark club where the builder has created a mood and some ambiance... and then somebody shows up with the search light from a ship attached to them and washes out the whole scene.

It's funny to see how things have changed over the years, when I first started playing on line games back in 1999 (Everquest) many girls would play male characters to avoid getting harrasred. If you *ever* let on you were a RL female you would have a hoard of basement dwelling acne ridden teens with testosterone overload wanting to "group" with you.

It was so bad that if I was asked "R U a RL Female?" I would say "No, i'm a 50 year old long distance truck driver from Texas, but if you want I can be on your porch in a dress in less than 24 hours" ..... worked every time.

Oh the dreaded ASL. When I get that in world I am most nostalgic (and hitting the X).

My answer depended on how surreal I was feeling aka "233 of your earth years/indeterminate, as we exchange a cloud of spore/I'm in universe 9" - or more likely and still just as effective "penguin".

This constantly surprises me. The lack of people. I know there is much more land than when I started 2 years ago, but it's still so sparsely populated and mostly deserted. And it feels emptier because people don't come up and chat like they used to. I guess I should take off the "stay back!" sign.

This week I did try checking out a clump of green dots on the map to see what the event was and discovered another covey (herd? flock? murder?) of bots locked up in a room. They wouldn't talk to me either.

Yep. This doesn't so much surprise me as make me very sad.

Glad someone from that time agrees with me tho, it simply was a friendlier time all round. I'm a friendly person, I don't like that I too get more reserved as time marches on.

Perhaps it comes from the mixture of languages there is now i.e. people find it easier to just not say anything than try to communicate without a common language? Who knows.

That reminded me of another one, as I played a Dark Elf in Everquest I also would also say "oh and yes I'm a Real Live Dark Elf too! Do you know how much it cost me to get high speed installed in our secret underground city??!!!1!?

I'm surprised at how many people must never look at the edges of prims in their builds. Almost every build I've seen has at least one exposed face with a texture grotesquely stretched across it and several other prims that are overlapping just enough to produce nasty texture join lines. Folks, all that attention to detail costs is a little bit of time, so why not spend it?
