They want everyone to go out of their way to find copy bot so they can make a copy of the product they purchased so they can use it how they want, modify how they want, and simply give the big F-U to the No Rez rip off paranoid creator.

The sad irony of the matter is, you're probably right. After all, this would support the paranoia regarding content theft, these merchants can then yell and scream, "See? Everybody really IS copybotting my stuff", and use that as justification for even more draconian measures!

Sure you found them all? In the one I had, the script was in a child prim. Hence I replicated a script to remove all scripts from all prims automatically rather than try to open each prim.

My sequence was, wear the item, add script to kill all scripts to the root prim, add a script to propagate that around. Remove item, re-wear item, set scripts to running in selection, that then took care of all the scripts in every prim. Remove and rez.

These resize things are just stupid for hair, you can't even know which prim you're clicking on half the time because so much is usually transparent. I defy any hair creator to actually move prims on their own creations using these.

There's zero chance I would ever buy a hair that required this much work.

This tempts me to create a new alt and find the copybot software and have the alt copybot one of those hairs and toss it back at them as proof.

You are not the only person with that exact same idea.

I didn't know until a) I needed to innocently resize it down and b) Rezzed it to do the very simple task I needed to do.

I will now not buy from that hair shop. Unfortunately it's very popular and the influx of people will continue to propagate these crippled hair products.

LOL, the text didn't rez in for me for a bit and I thought the OP was talking about the ugliest hair ever. I received hair that looked kind of like this in the Cinderella Lost Slipper Hunt and figured the "new trend" must be a quasi-bald look.

Along the same lines, sort of, I would love to keep "Czari" as my business avatar or delete her altogether for personal reasons and begin a new AV; however, I have so many special items to me that are non-trans that would either be too expensive to replace and/or aren't even available anymore.

I rarely log in anymore, and it is stuff like this that has gotten me there. Sellers that seem to have an attitude that we should feel oh so privileged to give them our money, that feel they should not have to be bothered by silly rubbish like providing customer service, and the crazy lengths that theft paranoia has reached.

You land at the store, only to be greeting by anti-copying chat gibberish that probably works only to announce what a scumbag the owner assumes you are, and does nada against an actual content thief. You then realize you've wasted your time standing and waiting for the store to rezz, because everything in it is no mod/no transfer/no copy/no loitering/no right turn/no bananas, which means that if it doesn't fit properly, you can neither fix it nor give it away to someone it might fit properly. Then forbid that something actually go wrong if you do buy, and the item not arrive, because, of course, you are a scammer trying to steal a copy of their grotty $1 US whatever it is, or the owner has logged out for the summer, but left their store open with no one to service it.

Okay, yeah, that might be a bit of an over the top rant. But the bottom line is, when I am here, I wear the things I already own, sit on the furniture I already own, and use the gadgets I already own, BECAUSE I HAVE STOPPED BUYING THINGS. I don't want to spend hours trying to find the one seller that no only sells what I want, but sells it with permissions that actually make it useful to me, and doesn't have some "don't bother me" bit of nonsense in their profile about customer service.

Rant over, I promise!

Good grief... Yeah, I'm not buying hair from there. I like being able to copy and modify my hair, not just for size, but for the contours of my features.

So, IM me the shop, so I won't bother even adding to the traffic.

because everything in it is no mod/no transfer/no copy/no loitering/no right turn/no bananas

LOL I love this part because if there were more No's they could add they would i'm sure..

It's just going to have people start to make thier own stuff more or like Brianna said..just take it to a place they can get a copy they can work with..

i may just start making my own and then also take on custom jobs for people that want a certain style made..

This whole mess is just getting ridiculous.. if they want to rip copies of it after i really won't give two hoots about it..
This is not the best place for a business and you have to go into it knowing there is a very good chance of theft..

i would welcome the write offs if the theft could be written off hehehe..got too get to zero on the start of page two of the 1040 some way lol

it's getting like nortons around here where the internet protection is worse than the maleware and spyware and viruses lol

Like many others have said in their own way: best thing is to not buy if it you don't like the perms. I know that it's a consideration for me when I buy stuff too.

(Never minding that it's not a very good vendor image, IMO)

Damn! You beat me to it.

And speaking of bananas (not off-topic because it's about what was a "new trend with retailers" :))...

in the UK, a long time ago, Sunday trading was limited to certain goods, which didn't include furniture, so furniture stores couldn't open and sell their goods on Sundays. Then one bright furniture chain came up with a perfectly legal idea, and they started giving away their suites with purchases of bananas, which could be sold on Sundays. A bag of bananas cost a few hundred pounds, of course, but the suite was free.

For those in the UK, that was DFS - still going strong.

Phil: I'm pretty sure that trick goes back to the South Pacific slave trade, where they'd sell a coconut and throw in a sla... I mean servant. :(

Maybe that's where they got the idea from, but they did it and it made the national TV news. I think it also helped to change the Sunday trading laws, about which there was a lot of dissent at the time.

Don't forget about the chance of being accused of being a thief or a copybot and frozen, ejected, and banned if you linger around certain parts of the store too long, especially if you're tinkering with animation poseballs and the scripts reset or something stupid like that, or if you spend too much time browsing between purchases...

Magika, Deviant kitties and Atomic are three who all have or have had this script in their hairs (i dont buy from them anymore so i have no idea if they still have it)

Until a few days ago, all my hairs are from Deviant Kitties.

Never knew there was anything like this in them.

It's not in the hairstyles I've bought from Deviant Kitties in the past month.

It is in the demos.

Demos are one thing. Demos are supposed to be temporary and honestly, just setting them to no mod should be enough. I usually get an idea if a style is going to fit my face and build, even if the style might be too small for my head ;)

I wish my fellow content creators would learn that a copybot only needs to SEE the style to replicate it. Doesn't matter if it's on the avatar or not.

And thank you, Sassy :) Now I have nice list of places to never even visit, let alone spend my hard earned L$ at.

Is it also wrong that if I was one of their competitors, I'd see this as a good move on their part.. at least for my business, it would be?

I've found one clothing story with some items that I really like, but a few of their other items have big red bands across them saying Anti-Copybot. As a result, I won't buy anything from them. Not because of perms, and not because of potentially stupid scripts, but because it says that the creator hasn't taken the time to understand copybot, which makes me wonder what else he or she doesn't understand.

On the other hand, I really love good resize scripts. I can't get that sort of precision using my touchpad or mouse, my hands aren't that steady and my input devices aren't that precise. The scripts make the resizing reproducible, so I can easy compare different sets of size changes. The only issue I see with them is when they can't be deleted, but many can. I suppose people who don't know enough to delete them are part of the problem, too.

While we're on "stupid stuff", how's this for a store policy. Now THIS is stupid... unless of course you agree with it :)

"SOME SIMPLE SHOP RULES
=================
I like to remind my visitors that taking a suspiciously big number of pictures inside my store can be considered theft and is strictly forbidden. If you need to take pics for a review please contact me. Outside the shop you are free to take as many photos as you like. "

So, to not be in breach of this stupid statement, I just stand outside and take lots of pictures inside?

Further, exactly what has been stolen? Nothing is stolen in taking a picture in the first place. About time people understood the difference between theft and infringement in the context of copyright.

Finally, with the camera sound turned off, she doesn't know, she doesn't know if i'm taking screen prints either. Just utterly utterly silly. :)

I just picked up an item in a hunt from a store I had never been to called CheerNo. A rather cute simple hair with a witch's hat attached. The DAMN hair has the No Rez scripts in it.

I went to a sandbox with no scripts to look at it in detail. Amazingly enough, the hair is Copy and even Mod, not counting the no-rez script --- though that damn script is in every single prim of hair.

Since it is Copy, I think I'll rez it a few more times just to make sure I fully understand the message being spammed into chat.
