Is it even allowed? I mentioned elsewhere that I was under the impression that there was a reason for you not being able to set perms as no copy and no transfer by default.

People started doing No Transfer/No Copy/No Modify, the month permissions changed and No Transfer was introduced. It is a dirty thing to do and i won't buy that stuff either.

But NO REZ is a whole new low for protectionist measures.

Gotta love the content theft paranoia. I know I said this once before somewhere around here, but if our creators and sellers don't get a grip and stop it with this nonsense, the paranoia is going to end up doing more damage than the theft they are hoping to prevent!

You slapt a script in there that deletes the item on rez. To make it hard on the buyer, you put a security script into multiple prims so that when you delete the scripts in the parent prims, the back ups reseed it and the item derezzes anyways once you rez it on a script enabled parcel.

The only way to ever rez this item is to do so with an illegal copy, which this stupid "no rez" feature does not stop.

Many hair creators are doing this now with the scripts in the hair...

Magika, Deviant kitties and Atomic are three who all have or have had this script in their hairs (i dont buy from them anymore so i have no idea if they still have it)

The thing is this script is easy to get around, however the simple fact that the creators have no respect for genuine buyers of their products and would scare/intimidate genuine buyers is something i have no respect for

I believe DK was dissuaded from this practice some time ago. There was a discussion of this across the street.

Tried some demos from Deadkitties earlier today, and had no problem trying on the hair. I ended up with a dollarbie, though.

I am not sure if they still use it but they did choose to use it

I know i have at least one hair from their with the scripting within it

I prefer to shop at stores which have more respect for their customers

Won't stop a ripper from ripping a copy off someone else using any of the counterfeiter clients. Won't have the phone home scripts in the copy either.

Doing stuff like that is like putting up a billboard begging for the malicious rippers to come after you. I wish that designer luck. They will probably need it.

That said some folks like it that way. SL is a big place. To each their own.

Uhm.

This isn't about those stupid "re-size scripts" and no mod hair.

This is about NO REZ items. Attachments you are only allowed to wear, not rez.

I just attached my signature hair from ETD to a skull the other day to make a teleporter. Can't do that sort of stuff with "No Rez" items. Not only that...wtf, it is NO REZ, what nerve and lack of respect for your customer.

One hair creator that I know of started doing the No Rez thing a while ago - before the last hair fair at least. I keep one hair by them and rez it tons of times over and over so that I can spam their logging site. Of course, me spamming them works cuz this hair is at least Copy.

Once they figure out that things can be copied while worn they'll probably fix that loophope too :p.
