Sweet. :) That should have read "change clothes".....I have very nice outfits in inventory....it's just an ordeal to find them. If you haven't changed clothes in weeks - you do tend to forget how to do it, if you click and drag all day.

If I ever click and drag, and get a message like that.....I will GO OFF.

Mickey, that's why I have a "buy and wear then forget" policy.

Once i've taken it off, it's like the ending sequence to Raiders of the Lost Ark... I know I bought it once but can never find it so... more shopping! :)

but ya i don't buy no copy no mod anyways..and size scripts alone are a joke..now this stupid no rez..
I'm at the point that i'm gonna just start making my own hair..it's not that hard to make really..

plus so many tutorials are out there now on bloggs and youtube that i bet people start looking in that direction after a bit..

wow i can just see it now..

Items getting pulled because of being AR'd LOL

I can't help but be mad at LL a bit also for making people feel they have to use all these different scripts to protect their hard work..

but the thing that really is irritating is the tone when something gets dropped on the ground from one of these scripts so the whole freaking world can hear it..it's like getting bitched out..
DON'T EVER DO IT AGAIN OR ELSE!!!

just makes you want to IM them and say
"Bitch say that to me in RL and you wwouldn't even get to finish the word "AGAIN" before i slapped the rest of the letters out your mouth"! LOL

I mean it is just an instant Temper flare..you worked hard on your product but guess what..I worked my ass off for that money you just got from me as well..
if we both don't walk away smiling then someone got the raw end of the deal..


Sorry lost it for a moment LOL..it's a burn though..

Is the hair modifiable?

can it be scripted and placed in an auto-rezzer so it screams and self deletes?

If so, it is definitely worth setting something up so their get flooded with rez reports.

yes it's copy, the pay version but not the demo so yes put in an auto rezzer is an option

:eek: wait i wasn't suggesting we go and actually get items just to AR them..i was mainly making a giggle about people being so upset that it backfired and their product defeated the actual purpose..

i wouldn't feel right about hurting anyones business no matter how silly the products are..

I would make everyone i know aware of what no rez will do though..let them feel it in their sales..

Exactly. I've been ranting on my blog regarding resizing scripts of late and find myself rejoicing when I buy something "normal".

I can understand no copy/no mod/no transfer for a demo version or a low priced sample of a creator's work, but not for every day use... and add "no rez"... good Lord.

Even if you happen to find all the security scripts and remove them, the object will still derez instantly the moment you rez it in script enabled region because it flagged that object as temp a long time ago.

Nothing you can do except rez it in a no script parcel - Copy Bot it, and then use your copy how you want.

That is what these people want apparently.

They want everyone to go out of their way to find copy bot so they can make a copy of the product they purchased so they can use it how they want, modify how they want, and simply give the big F-U to the No Rez rip off paranoid creator.


This is exactly what I feared would happen. Paranoia will increase the demand for copybotting expertise. Soon everyone will learn how to copybot items just so they can USE their legitimately purchased goods.

As always, it comes down to punishing the honest people.

On the other hand, I echo the resounding chorus in this thread and agree that to put an end to this sillybuggery, one must simply STOP feeding the creators who make items this way. Sad but true.

We are in for interesting times.

There is one hair maker out there that has some styles I love.. However this is how their hair is.. no rez.. As was said before.. No Copy, No Mod, No Trans, NO REZ... NO BUY...

Quite and one of the creators of one of these "no rez" pieces of junk even has this to say about it:-

"Sassy, honestly, this thing with the non script area or the turning off of scripts...do you really think i dont know about that? Do you really think that the designers using this script don't know about that as well? You shouldn't underestimate people's inteligence... 2- the fact that you could rezz and modify the hair still doenst mean that it would be possible to copy the hair,"

So.. they know that it doesn't work, they know the people who put it in their product know it doesn't work but it's still ok because THEY don't know what copybot does. It's really too funny for words. :)

(In my case, the hair that I referred to was modify, I just took the no-rez script out and was able to put my script in to find the smallest prims to make them bigger so that I could resize ok)
This tempts me to create a new alt and find the copybot software and have the alt copybot one of those hairs and toss it back at them as proof.

Good thing I'm a nice person.

I had a dialog with the creator of one of those scripts who was happy she had sold it to people, knowing how much content she had protected.

Oh, I love this! She's actually got a great point: A *lot* of content using these scripts is going to be protected -- because if nobody BUYS it, nobody can steal it! :rolleyes:

I'm going to start marketing product vendors that I will guarantee to be 100% effective in protecting its content from theft. The concept is simple: You place your products in this vendor, set a price, and sit back. When people pay the vendor, they will receive a notecard thanking them for the purchase and explaining that their purchase is being stored safe and sound in the vendor to protect it from loss or compromise.

I think it will be a top seller! :p

Never thought of that option. I've rezzed Copy hair over and over so that if it really does phone home, then the home will get spammed with lots of messages. I also have never had any negative consequences from supposedly being added to some database over and over again.

Hmm, Harassment, defaming individuals anyone? If they filed an AR for copybot just because you've rezzed some hair a couple of times, that's pretty rich.


How many ARs or DMCA claims, based on someone trying to rez the product they purchased, will it take for Linden Lab to ban the merchant for spamming them?

If they just wanted to make an empty threat, they should have gone with something like, "If you rez this item again, your real life information will be instantly entered into an FBI database for investigation of terrorist activities."
