BTW There *IS* no grid for Real Life 5 year olds, even if there were a 5 year old of sufficient ability to be able to interact in Second Life. The teen grid has a minimum RL age of 13 I beleive, there are US laws pertaining to chatting on the internet bellow a certain age. If so, it isn't very high, since there are entire virtual worlds oriented to the just over 7 or 8 age level, including a Disney one (had two, one's dead now). Evidently they feel under 7 or so there isn't much of a market. Although it is what we need - a bunch of kids spending even more time in front of a computer instead of outside playing... |

OK, I have a major issue with people not taking responsibility for their own actions.
When the speed limit on the motorway is 70, and you drive at 100 and get caught, so you start complaining loudly at the manufacturers of the cars that they built it so it could go at 100? I mean, that's just BEGGING you to break the law, right? No, you don't, of course - you know that the limit in that stretch of road is 70 and you drive at a reasonable speed (or don't be surprised if you get caught exceeding that). So, if a particular activity is illegal in your country, do you expect LL to take all responsibility for the fact that they don't stop it from happening? No, just don't do what you know is illegal in your country. If you feel that viewing or interacting in a non-sexual way with child avatars is illegal, then don't do it. If that means that you feel you can't come into SL, then don't. Don't expect an outside force to change the world so that YOU can live within the law. If what LL is doing is really against UK law, and assuming that LL have to abide by UK Laws, then the correct place to bring this up is with UK law enforcement, not by posturing on these forums, trying to make your case. UK Law Enforcement would then talk to LL who would then take the appropriate action. Trying to wind people up in fora that LL barely even read, let alone get involved in, is a waste time if your goal really is to get things changed. And I think the reaction of the Adults-with-child-avatars on this thread is utterly ADORABLE!!!! BOOGERHEADS! LOL _____________________

I have not been able to read any of your postings recently because of log in accounts and in world have been severley disrupted to uk AOL customers.
I have been contacted by a second life Child avatar, who I spoke to an Im, she is also about 6 years of age. She was saying that Sky news and fox news at the start of 2008 was responsible for making people believe that there were real child avaters in sl. Since then I believe a complaint was forewared to the press about the misrepresentation about childs avaters. The Child avater came to meet me, and I took her for a ride round my sim in my ferry which she enjoyed! She also pointed out that she attended a meeting to discuss, with other child avaters at the time, because they were annoyed and felt they were being used as ammunition for the press making a scandal out of nothing. She is now my friend, and I hope to visit her lands and her parties soon. I admit That I left myself open to ridicule, but I had only the incorrect information that I had through my television, showing a play ground called " Wonderland". where it was reported wrongly that children were being abused in sl. Now I know better, and I have taken an interest in the wonderful world of kids in sl, I know longer feel I am clueless any more. If u read carefully my updated post number 25 perhaps u will realize why we are so jumpy about this issue in uk. Thanks for all your comments, but obviously most of u dont live in the uk where interacting or mixing of adult and child avaters in virtual worlds is now almost an offence. Wether or not there adults. "Child playing" is very much frowned upon in this country, and all i ask is u understand that this country outlaws any child playing & with adults, wether its harmless or not. the little girl in question was deff very cute, just the sort of avarter the police send in now to catch innocent people or real perverts. This is my last post on this matter. If you aren't hitting the child AVs up for pixelsex, you are doing nothing wrong. Jebus Cripes, do you seriously believe you can be arrested for being in the same virtual room with a child avatar? What about in RL? Are the bobbies going to thump your skull if you stray too close to an elementary school? This must be the Friday thread. |
