From: Joshooah Lovenkraft Do you wear socks and underwear in SL? not usually, because I spend most of my time in Glint, where it is illegal for women to wear underwear, and even until recently, shoes. But got careless this week and forgot to remove my panties when I entered the sim, was caught, so now I'm going to be sold at the slave auction this Sunday. Life is full of hard lessons.

I need to differentiate between the purely technical and the assumed reality within SL.
Technically, I don't usually 'wear' underwear if it can't be seen. But at the same time I assume that I am normally wearing underwear under my clothes. If I'm wearing something see through, I do 'wear' underwear, unless I want to be seen to not be wearing any, as it were. Also, it's not unusual for me to wear nothing at all.
I do wear glitch pants with skirts and dresses, of neccessity. Also I wear black socks with jeans so that I get dark shadows in the flare cuffs rather than unrealistic flesh-coloured discs.

From: Novis Dyrssen Joshooah, you might want to take out that flashing image in your first post. If I were an epileptic, I'd have some nasty problems now. All those people who are allergic to vowels would be having problems as well. Pep (Would you suggest that everybody disemvowel themselves, too?) PS It's Friday. Let's have a discussion about the most ridiculously politically correct behaviour that someone might suggest in the forums.

I have a set in my base outfit folder that includes dark socks, boxers, and a tee shirt. Often the tee shirt gets removed because most of my outfits require three visible top layers (shirt on the undershirt layer, waistcoat on the shirt layer, and coat on the jacket layer). Often the socks will be replaced with a boot-fix sock that came with my shoes or by a shoe base that is tinted the same color as the shoes they match.

I think the original poster was discussing underwear worn under clothes. Whether we like to run around in SL just in our underwear is a completely different kettle of fish!!

I'm still not sure I understand what "glitch pants" are.

From: Joshooah Lovenkraft I think I'm in the minority about always having to wear socks in Second Life, unless I have sandals on, or I'm going barefoot. I'm also a bit of a virtual prude, so I feel somewhat unchaste unless I have on underwear even though no one can see them. Boxer briefs if you must know. What are your thoughts on wearing socks and undies in SL and under what circumstances? I dont wear socks I wear stockings, I always wear underwear with all my outfits. I will also go as far as to not go bear foot in a public place so may I join you in the Virtual Prude club ?

From: Joshooah Lovenkraft Virtual Prudes United! In my reality (and I do have a certain amount of privacy, I admit) I prefer NOT wearing any underwear. I am naked if I can do so. My dress code for my real land is cotton pants and a tee shirt. In sl, I wear nothing when I am on my own land or in nude sims. Nude beaches in sl have as many clothed avs as ordinary ones. Now I am based in zindra, I wear nothing on my land and feel very much happier. Why create constraints here that we face in reality? Why import our hang-ups (if we have any)? This is a greatplace but we're just cartoons. Prudery IS a bad thing - its shyness taken to extraordinary lengths and its one of the reasons PG became the bastion of moral finger pointing.

Josh, for god's sake man, let you balls swing free. Feel teh air on your loins. Feel that breeze tickle your bum cheeks.
And destroy your socks.

Wanting to wear clothes does not make a person a prude, you are generalizing and judging again, Jig. Not wanting you to choose not to wear clothes would be a form of prudery, no doubt. Don't hold people to your standard and preferences of how they go about their virtual lives..or their real one for that matter. Live and let live.

[image elided] Is it any wonder so many "snow birds" head to Florida when the cold hits?
Assuming he didn't stuff his socks into his long johns, if that's his package in winter, I can't wait to get him into a hot tub.

The thing is, I live a bit of a hedonistic, and some might even say deviant real life, so I have little interest in pursuing those types of things in SL. As some might enjoy recapturing their youth in a virtual world, perhaps I just want to recapture my virginity

I wear socks, as opposed to stockings, now and then, often long striped ones. Stockings when they look right with the outfit, and often tights (full hose) with short skirts. They often have panties 'built in' as they use the underwear layer. With trousers, I use the sock layer as a 'cuff-shader' to remove the flesh-toned bit at the bottom of the leg.
Unless they it shows, I don't often bother with underwear, but like Conifer, I usually assume I am. If at any point I end up undressing, I sneak some undies on.

From: Joshooah Lovenkraft I'm still not sure I understand what "glitch pants" are. Glitch pants are a pants layer for use with prim skirts with the same pattern on them. The prims will pass through your avatar as you move. The glitch pants make the skirt look complete, instead of various body parts passing through it as you move. I like socks, so, yes I wear them a lot. Underwear, usually. I mean, you have to wear it to take it off!

You can get him INTO a hot tub; getting him OUT of his long johns is the problem. (If his crotch squeaks, it's because he is stuffing a pair of Josh's socks. )
