Yes. Constantly. Not Trout; I like Trout. I hate Recreant. I'd give just about anything reasonable to change it, but I have so much invested in this account that I just can't change it. Everything I have that's good is no transfer. It blows. Meh. There are a lot bigger fish to fry, so to speak. I'm not going to let it get me down. /me almost says something, then changes his mind. _____________________

Speaking of SL names... I got a 2-part resident login survey yesterday that asked If I would change my SL name if I could, and if so, would I be willing to pay to have it changed. Pretty much caught me by suprise with that one... *raises morning coffee in a toast* Here's to hoping they DO allow an option to change resident names. As for the OP, I'm happy with my name.. although if given an option to change it, I might consider a better surname. I DO have an alt that seriously needs a new name. As long as it's a reasonable price! _____________________

You could have answered the OP's question, Dookie. (^_^)y Same answer as in the last thread: no. Now, if someone started a thread with a title like, "Ever regret someone else's choice of name?", I could really go to town. _____________________

Nope.
"Phoenix" Sol was already taken, and I enjoyed creating this name! This thread does bring back to mind a rather hilarious bit of history as my sweetie and I read through the names, carefully considering several and outright discarding many. "well.... what about _____?" "ew. Sounds too much like _____!" (repeated too many times to recall any exact detail) "Ok. how about Polk?" "I am NOT about to march around this place named after a street from San Francisco!" (The list of choices at the time was overpopulated with them). Sol was an obvious choice, instant fit and I've never had the urge to change it. Then to end the sign up, we counted down and both hit the submit button on our respective machines at the same moment, to ensure that we both had the last name of Sol and the rest is semi amusing history (to us anyway... winks) (adds) I've always enjoyed the creative ways DJs stumble on it at times and sometimes I'm prone to put it into my titler. (fun EEK suh) P.S. we did notice on our last trip down to San Francisco the other day, there is a street called Linden. _____________________

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I occasionally wish that I had registered with my actual name, Joe. I normally register on forums and such with my real name; why I chose a different name for SL (and why a Dutch name specifically) is beyond me.

I often wish I could change my name. I picked it for a not-so-positive reason, and I've been stuck with it ever since. Like it or not, you're one of them. ![]() |

Not really. It's an unusual name but that seems to be a plus in a large world like SL.

Sredni... that name rocks!! . Thanks. I like the fictional character it's based on, but half the population here has trouble pronouncing it correctly. It's funny as hell when I win a club event where the DJ is on voice and I hear "Congrats goes out to Sssre---srennn----uh that guy over there with the DJ Johnny tag on." I honestly don't think it's that hard. Someone here got it right: Shred-nee. At the time I though I could just pick my own surname and would have chosen Vashtar to go along with it, but no such luck So now I just have a group tag with the name most people know me as anyway. |

I think "Trout Recreant" sounds good and is easy to remember, but I understand people have their personal reasons for wanting to or not change their names. I don't really regret my name, although it doesn't entirely suit what I've become. I only planned on checking things out and at the time I was doing some research into the Borgia family and the name "Lucrezia" was stuck in my head. "Lamont" was the only last name that seemed to flow with "Lucrezia" and so I was born. . I suddenly have a Sisters of Mercy song stuck in my head. Lucretia/Lucrezia is a pretty name. I met a guy named Jiffypop Magic last night. That's one of the coolest newbie names I've run across. |

My surname is the nearest Slavic one available at the time. I've always liked the name Cherry and used it in other places (like IRC). "Cz" is pronounced "ch" so = Cherry Chervik.
However I really didn't think it through. Sigh. So YES. _____________________

I love my name. I spent a lot of time picking it and couldn't be happier. I can't imagine just selecting something on the fly when there's a chance I'd be stuck with it forever. But then again I think again when I heard about SL I was really excited about joining and kinda knew I'd really enjoy it.
