I picked my name because I really didn't think I would be playing around SL all that long. Honestly, I was only checking it out because a friend told me about it.
It would be nice to change my name to something simpler since virtually nobody can spell or pronounce it. It is an ice breaker, though. Great to explain to people where it came from, but funny as hell when a voice DJ tries to pronounce it and mangles it completely.
Anyone else have this issue?

Am I guessing correctly that your name is pronounced like "Shred Knee?" And are you a skateboarder? Just kidding. I wouldn't feel obligated to change my name just because others mispronounce it, especially if it's a real name or one that has special meaning.

Yeah after while I didn't like mine, I've had a few people ask me if my names means I'm a pot smoker. To answer, no, it does not mean that. I've wanted to change it due to that reason...but I have too much invested in this account to start over. This was an alt to begin with because I really hated my original main name. It never crossed my mind that people would think it would refer to weed lol.

Anyone else have this issue? If it really bothers you change it (to an alt) now before you are a year, 2 years into this name that you hate... For the record I absolutely love my name --- i'm just very fortunate that I picked a good one back during pre-noob registration. I could have very easily picked something silly...

Does it count if I originally wanted to use my first name and couldn't? Nah, Ann is Ann, works for me.

My first name is an old nickname I've had forever. As for my surname ... it's the most applicable they had at the time. So, nah, I like it as it is. And it has a nice ring to it.

If I could just take the Z off the end. Although X and Z are my alltime favorite letters of the alphabet, I don't feel comfortable when people type my name MoxZ. Maybe that's because I've been hit on by some creepy men in SL and I'm imagining the sleezy way I'm sure they're typing it.
I'd prefer to be as I've always been, just Mox.

I like my name - although because I know it's a feminine name (Greek Mythology origin) - I can't comfortably wear a male skin with it. But I have no regrets.

From: Imnotgoing Sideways I keep hearing a Steely Dan song in my head. (^_^) A cafe owner played that song once so I could understand why people were asking me about shining Japan and sparkling China.

Yes, it's so awful that I chose Maryanne, and really wish I had chosen something more masculine...wasn't thinking at the time.

I’m fine with my name. It’s unique and I still think its fun to look at though a bitch to type. Now as far as it being absolutely butchered in voice…”Dah Q bert” and “Dock bet” and a few others that I know have ppl wiping off the spit from their microphone. just call me Dak or DK. And I like it when ppl type DaQ too. But really if there is a ‘D’ an ‘A’ and a ‘Q’ in there I can pretty much guess you’re talking to me.

Sredni... that name rocks!! Individuality is cool! Unmistakeable. AshleyBarbie01 Blingtard or suchlike would be warmed-over death - eccentric is one thing, fascinating, creative, offbeat or stylish - but a trite and common name? Bleah! I actually answer to Desmond in first life now, if someone says it verbally, and it's tough not to sign my RL biz correspondence the same way. My real first name is distinctly different but culturally nondistant (like say, Hamfist and Bonebrow are distinct but comparable). My personality seems to fit, the name too, but I guess that is really up to all of you to decide.

I like my name, would not want to change it
and it does get mangled a lot on voice and by DJ's which is why most folks call me Rha
