Spoiler maybe for people who (like me) have never seen Logan's Run
.... . . . . . . . . . . . . SO I went loking for Plot summaries, reviews, etc. . . . . . . . And one line stood out for me for some reason ... . . . . . . "..... They fight to the death; Logan kills him by bludgeoning him with an American flag. ..." . . . . . . . Forgetting all about the symbolism of 'the American flag' standing for freedom (for some Americans)... . . . . . . But - WTF? . . . . He took a flag out a deep freeze?? . . . . I can understand how he could tickle someone to death with a flag -- or suffocate them. . . . . But "bludgeon"??. . . . . Was he like...... gay? . . . Joke! OK? Not anti-gay. Moi? Nope ![]() |

Sling, You just have to watch the film and it will make sense.
Is it cheesy? Definitely but then lots from that era of sci-fi film making was. What is good about it? The story is rich and the imagery of the film is powerful and very well done despite any technical goofs it might have. Michael York and Jenny Agater give really good performances too. It was good enough to spawn a long running TV series from. Its a case of you either love the films from that time or not I think. Analyzing a film from the reading fails for most films let alone films from way back when. |

I've seen a lot of talk about under-age use, but what about over-age? Would it bother you to find out the stud/studlette that you're bonking is really an 80 year-old geezer? Should there be a Senior Grid for folks over a certain age? And what would be the cut-off age? I'm just asking because I might be getting close to that age. And I think I hear footsteps coming after me. Just came on from an airport "somewhere in continental USA" and thought I would check out forum (dont want other travellers to think I was playing video games) and this thread caught my eye. My sl partner is 65 now. Old and wise and f**king sexy. In real my best lover was 56 when I was 19 so I speak from experience when I say that older is better and it goes for sl too. Older men in my sphere (in sl and rl) have more money, experience, time, interests, consideration of partner and more suavity and general sexiness. In my book if teh man is under 45 he is underage. I am 30 by the way (oh, and my 56 year old lover is now 67 and is my best friend.) Gotta go! (Hey, what happened to that guy who used to come on when I posted?) _____________________

It really is an awesome movie. It's one of those kinds of movies that you can watch again and again because you probably missed something when you last saw it. Kinda of ranks up there with the first 2 installments of the Planet of the Apes and Soylent Green. God did Moses look good in both those movies. ![]() LOL _____________________

Its a case of you either love the films from that time or not I think. Analyzing a film from the reading fails for most films let alone films from way back when. One of my favorite films of the era was Altman's The Long Goodbye with Elliot Gould. The reading would make little sense at all, especially if you were trying to relate it to any other version. |

For some reason, what I remember most about Logan's Run was a robot breaking through a wall shouting "FISH!".
When I read the title I thought the OP was going to propose limiting a person's total time _in SL_.. |

The author of the novel Planet of the Apes also wrote a book called Garden on the Moon.
Sci-fi fans who have missed that one might want to read it. It's sad but good. _____________________

How many? Jeez! You know we even had stereo and flush toilets back then don't you, and just four years later we would have CD's. Of course disco was beginning its heyday, so this may be why I've blotted out the entire period from my memory. That's my excuse anyway. |

Jeez! You know we even had stereo and flush toilets... Yes but... I still remember... • rotary dial phones • black & white TV... that got maybe 6 channels • owning an 8-track tape player that only worked if you jammed a pencil in it • playing Pong for the first time and thinking what a cool game it was O.o C < Damn, I am OLD! _____________________

When I've had 30 years of SLife, I might consider quitting for the benefit of the younger residents.

"Where are you from" is a legitimate question since it refers to time zones, and that can be important, but only after you get to know someone and decide that you both want to spend time together.
I have been married in SL for 2 years, and have a 5 hour time difference between myself and my wife, we cope with that, but a 12 hour difference , say UK and Australia would be very difficult ![]() I am also the "wrong£ side of 60, and I have grey hair in SL, but I still feel 25, and act that way too. Still, I love the idea of a senior citizen Sim where we can all get together and moan about these DAMN KIDS of 30 something on the grid |

And I remember mail being delivered twice a day, ringing up the party line, and three channels with a test pattern most of the day until the Mickey Mouse Show. Cars with no air conditioning (in Texas) and am radio only. Air conditioning mainly in banks, theaters and the five and dimes, when they really had stuff for nickels and dimes... Still not enough random experience to understand how and why LL manages to bork their entire site, over and over. The grid, I understand, but borking the web site? |
