I don't think that's fair. It's a really big file, so I can see how it can easily get stalled out.

U damn hamster! U cant even download a 2.2 MB file from Modular Sytems and OPEN its to compare the original source code. Now u want to download huge files for a High-End games.

1 month ago u said u arent interested in BM at all .

I'd agree if it would get stalled out. The file in question though always breaks off at the exact same spot, and it doesn't matter if downloaded through the web installer or by trying a direct download url. (IM me if you want the url for a test drive.) Five tries with the web installer, three more with direct download, always transfer suddenly breaks off at the exact same spot. That highly suggests a corrupt file on the server.

I find it difficult to get upset over some kid who has yet to learn that the letter "U" isn't actually, you know, a word. ;)

On the contrary, I find it, among other revelations, quite humorous. :)

I don't get that far, I stall out at different places. Their download manager is pitiful, it doesn't even detect that the download is incomplete and tries to unpack it anyway.

I haven't tried the latest standard installer, but the city dev installer does smoothly detect and recover from errors, thankfully. I saw some comments Jim Sink made about the installer, looks like they realized there was an issue and have resolved it (or are in the process, as I said, I haven't tried the standard installer).

Yes, apparently the installer was failing for those folks who did not have English as their default Windows language, or who had their locale set to a language other than English. Oh the fun of designing robust installers.

are you affiliated with the New Venice location? since all you promote is that particular city. (reading the thread).. seems a bit like advertising for that location (pre-advertising)

Not my problem. It downloads 30% or 60% or 47% or 99.44% and then asks me if I want to try unpacking it again or try redownloading it. Continuing the download is not given as an option.

My default language and locale are both English/en_us.

Affilliated with them? I wish.

No, New Venice was just added recently to BM, and unlike the other three sample cities this one was made by an outside entity, Virtual Space Entertainment, who have artists such as Syd Mead working with them.

New Venice is being discussed simply because it is new, and very different to the other sample cities. If you read my blog, I have also posted news about Myst Online as well.

Although I visit many VWs, and write on what I find, I still have only one 'home' within any of them, and that is in SL.

Rock

P.S.
Argent. A new installer is currenly being worked on (to fix the current download problem) and should be out shortly.
