It was at "Pillow Talk". But, where I actually found it was on the ground floor of the store, which has a model home. In the house, in the kitchen, on the sink is the towel. It was VERY expensive for what it was, I think $200L, but considering it is really an animation, I guess worth it. BTW, the model home sux (I think it looks very cheesy but to each their own). Although, it does have a bathroom in it, with working toilet, sink and tub. The sink also had a towel on it, which had a hand washing animation (or could have been the same one as the dish one? I didn't really pay that close attention).

Pillow Talk is wonderful Elora. I especially love the apple barrel (hehe). We have the 2 story farmhouse from Pillow Talk. It suits our style but I have changed the interior some - retextured the floors, etc. I also raised the roof on the 2nd floor a bit. I found the ceiling too low in the bathroom and every time I go in there, the camera goes all wonky. The kitchen is nice - useless but nice. But it feels homey, you know? And I love decorating. Now that it's finished I just may re-do it again.

Elora you are welcome to come see what I've done to it, just send me an IM when I'm in world.

/me checks you are not a neighbour of mine ... rl I have a 'playroom' usually ... current home does not permit it sadly. I had one place with a room painted deep blue, even the ceiling, with black paintwork. It was a room which never looked good in any colour anyway as it got such bad light quality - but painting it like that, with candles by the score and all my toys on the wall ... was fantastic.

(nostalgic sigh)

::grin:: nope not a neighbor, I'm in the US, but you'd be welcome next door ;) hey if I ever get rich selling things in SL I'll look you up when I head out that way.

current 'room' styling:
A bit gothic victorian, but on the cheap side (cause I'm poor) maroon over black spongework and faux panelling, faux victorian furniture with synth velvet, NO ELECTRIC LIGHTS, all candles and sconces, a nice mirror that I refurbished, and at first glance looks lilke a den or library or sitting room... the fun stuff is mostly out of direct view ;)

Yes, appliances that work have been available for a while.

I have a fridge like that from Depoz. Made by Mash Mandala. There are also stove with burners that glow, and lots of different cabinetry to design and build your own kitchen

Depoz Building Center offers lots of kitchen options including modular kitchen pieces that just slide together to design your own kitchen and a number of working appliances.

Sink fills with water at the touch of the knobs. Stove/Oven burners light and doors open. Pantry & dishwasher doors open. Available in a variety of cabinet styles.

The ultimate virtual fridge that comes with doors that open and when you touch the inside you can choose from a variety of menu items including drinks, food, and desserts...all food is wearable and includes eating/drinking animations.

I have no kitchen since I eat my prey alive :O But I have a small bathtub, a vanity spot with a mirror (which doesn't work) and even a functioning toilet, umm, I mean litterbox, with animation and sound (which is for sale, and some DO buy it LOL).

...sound? 0.o Sounds scary! ;)

And oh, I remember it WAS Depoz where I'd seen the working fridges...Only that I bought the simple one.

Hmmmm... makes me wonder how popular SL would be if your avatar had to use the bathroom, shower & eat like in The Sims :D

With same results for ignoring those functions also ;)

Looking for appliances?
12-02-2007 08:06
Everyone on this thread who was looking for working appliances, this store sounds like a lot of fun:

/199/a2/227107/1.html

Any store that has both slushie and hot cocoa machines is OK by me! And notice, their air conditioners are 50% because its off-season ROFL!!!

I have found that most of my clients purchase a kitchen or bathroom because they want the complete look and feel of a real home, so basically for aesthetic reasons.

Most people on SL treat their "SL home" more like a hotel instead of an actual lived in home where they hangout and entertain people. Those that do, IMO are more often couples or long established citizens.

~shameless plug....

my store has around 15 kitchens ranging from 8 prims to ~20 prims (350-450L), and I have 8 complete bathroom sets (toilet, shower, bathtub, sink etc.) Its all original work, really low prim and very affordable.

I always put in a kitchen and bathroom :-) Just dosen't seem like home without them.

Seems silly to be Honest. What do you really use it for besides visual fluff or wasted space to walk through?

If were going this logic route I would think then all house teleports should be removed and put in staircases.

SL isnt RL (or Sim2 online) and vise versa is my point :)

It all depends on what you use the rooms for to me. I like to go with the use of my 'house' as to what it has. I use my house for cuddling or hanging out with friends and chatting or the ocasional naughty thing so really having a bathroom is not needed. I prefer a hot tub for my bathing animations :p. And I had a kitchen only once in sl purely for rp. Had a girl who really like cooking for me so I build a kitchen for her to do it in. But normally I have a sitting room a 'garden' and a bedroom and and a sandbox room. and well that is it. Though having a dining table to sit around and talk is fun to. But Then again I normal have pillows just sprawled over the floor for people to sit on to so I am a bit hippy at times. Hey man we are free from the bounds of the flesh so just do what makes you feel good.

My house it set up like any normal house would be.. I have a kitchen, bathroom with tub/shower and a toilet and toilet paper.. (haha) I don't have a washing machine or dryer because I don't have the space for it, but I would put on in there if I could...
I try to get my house as close to real life as I can and that usually includes the above mentioned... I don't use the bathroom at all and rarely do I go into the kitchen.. But, what the heck ya know..
I also have a little cat running around my living room, a piano, african drums and a guitar a pool table a tarot table and a couch with horrible sitting animations.. (but I love the couch) I spend more time in the SL yard or on the boat then I do in the house but I certainly like to look at it.

I just wish there was a way to prevent people from camming into the house when I am .. er.. busy.

Because it's fun. I love to decorate and that's one part of my SL I enjoy. Sure the baths/kitchens serve no useful purpose, but neither do most landscape/structures in SL if you want to go by that logic. All of it could seem "visual fluff and wasted space" to some. Why do avatars need chairs...we don't get tired. Why do we need walls? Cameras can go anywhere.

I often joke about my SL kitchen as a place where I can't cook what I can't eat. But in RL I don't have a good kitchen. Maybe this is a way to fulfill that fantasy a bit.

ah in RL I have a tiny kitchen too, and in SL my kitchen is huge. You have a wonderful point!

Our home has both a kitchen, a dinning room, and a bathroom. Almost everything works, though I still have some more animations to add... We have the prims to spare, and it makes everything feel like a home to us..

We have them because it is our home, and anything that helps to enhance that feeling is worth the prims.. Even on my original 1024 plot, I had a shower and tub. Just like in real life I would often relax in the tub with a glass of wine, some candles burning, and smooth jazz playing on the stereo.. *smiles*

We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner together.. The chairs and utensils are animated so you can actually eat and drink.. We fairly often have a small meal, share a cup of tea at the kitchen table, or some cookies and milk.. *smiles*

The bathroom gets a lot more use, sharing a bath or shower is a lovely, intimate experiance..

I created most of the items in the kitchen and dinning room, as well as most of the bathroom. If you want to come see it, give me a call inworld and I will give you a tour..

A lot of what I made is VERY low prim, so things like the kitchen or bathroom do not have to use a lot of prims.. I have a simple yet attractive tub I made that is only 3 prims.

I also wonder if it's not a gender thing. Most men I've talked seem to care less about kitchen/bath, but they sure do like the living room/bedroom! Women's homes I visited in SL usually have the kitchens and baths.

I'm not saying this is true for everyone -- just a general observation.

Since this thread got resurrected...:)

I did put in the bathroom, love it! Even has a vanity with an animation for brushing your hair, which is lovely. The tub/shower has a lot of great bathing and other animations in it as well, steam rising from it, bubbles, etc.. I just love it. Decided against using the toilet, because well, all you did was sit on it, and who cares? It was just using up prims :)

Kitchen hasn't gotten going yet, still looking for what I love, and I'm running out of prims! Ugh! Found a great refrigerator tho, just haven't bought it yet. Dispenses all kinds of foods, cracks me up, and not many prims. If anyone has any landmarks for lowprim kitchen things, which really work and look good, pass them along!

I think it may in part be a gender "thing".. I love to cook and when we finally bought a bigger island one of the first things I added was nice kitchen.. *smiles* In RL my kitchen is the center of the house, where most conversation takes place and everyone gathers. A lot of women I know it is the same for them. I think in part it may be a bit of a "Mom" thing too.. *smiles*

But yes most men could care less about a kitchen even in RL, except for does the fridge keep their beer cold enough? And "Is dinner ready yet?"
