Cato makes me laugh! He's pure comedy gold.

Bet he will be the sort who will be ARing peoples private sex beds as "Adult Content" on Mature lands!

I wouldn't doubt it in the least. If he can find my place, he's more than welcome to try. However he'd have to be quicker than the ban hammer that'd be pounded down on him.

RFyre is good for Gothic style menswear, and I think Silent Sparrow too.

Yea, I like RFyre... Sn@oks (sp?) too... mmmm, the Gothic wear vendor I'm thinking has an outfit called Van Helsing. Maybe that's Silent Sparrow? I can't remember...

I've only just skimmed this thread so far but has any one mentioned http://www.slmen.com yet as a source for good links to men's clothing suppliers?

Does anyone know where I can find a male skin that *doesn't* have 6-pack abs?? Something that looks more like an average guy?

Most of the time I just wear my ripped jeans from HCT, my old black boots from Shiny Things, my nipple piercings. Shirts are optional, but I dig the prim jackets at C.H.A.O.S.

mmm, if you want some more gothic-esque stuff, look at Emo-tions (good stuff) and there is another really good one I can't remember.... lol... a lot of vendors carry both male and female lines... ahh, and I suppose Gothicatz is ok too, though I try to avoid them and Regrave because everyone goes there.

For a guy, once you find the boots, the jeans, and the hair, you don't change too often. *grins*

I have a friend, who changes once a year, on his rez day. Only because his wife makes him.

Who the hell do you think you are?

The pompous blow-hard Roman Senator Cato wanted to go back to a more "traditional" Roman style. He was always driving out religious folks from Rome (when he was a Censor), and removing Senators. Also believed in walking around in barefeet, sleeping on a hard surface, etc. Depending on your viewpoint, the only "good thing" about him was that the traditional beverage was unwatered wine, while the beverage of the time was heavily watered wine.

Also he was smelly.

I have no idea who this current Cato is, though I get the impression that it is a somewhat failed attempt at humor.

Meh; I think Blaze is starting to look dated. They haven't kept up with the general improvement in texture quality, the addition of sculpted collars and cuffs; etc. Even for texture-only stuff without prim attachments I find the overall quality of the stuff is better elsewhere. I used to wear Blaze for my basic dress-shirt and tie (again, talking about my cross-dressing alter-ego Carter here, men's clothes) until I discovered that the ones at SLAB were much nicer.

I, sadly, agree. Looking dated. Even the newest stuff that just got released looks just like prior outfits. And I'm just looking on the female side. Maybe the textures were updated for that/those dresses. I'll have to look again.

/me nods. Me too. That's why I really haven't said anything. An attempt at humor, or to depict an opinion as to 'how it will be' once AC goes into effect......

Try Millage. They have shapes and skins that you can adjust all the muscles on. They have L$1 demo's that you can get to try out. I'd post a pic of me but am not near SL.

A little while ago I created a male avatar with the help of a girl who does makeovers for men.

We started at Madd for a shape, and (since I am old enough to be her mother), had some fun arguing over "hot" versus "good looking" -- and consequently found something in the middle.

After that I followed (for the most part, but not entirely) the style card that came with the shape. The skin came from Belleza, but I have to say the coolest skins I've seen on men are from Abyss.

I was worried about the clothes, but it's not as bad as everyone says. Honeybear has a store in her mall with good men's clothes, and I got a great pair of shoes there too. That's the Mall at Cherry Park.

This blog

http://fabfree.wordpress.com/

which I follow because of the pictures, often has good freebie items for men. If you like the freebie item, you will probably like the other items in the store it came from.

I'm probably gonna repeat others, but I don't have time to go through the thread. I like clothing ranging from jeans and tee to gothic to silks to leather and spikes to "what the hell was he thinking??". Anyways, here are some suggestions based on my inventory and memory, which obviously isn't gonna be for everyone's tastes..

Skin:
Excess - I guess many will consider those too "pretty boy", especially with the old skin line. They have a new, more mature line aswell now.
Zanzo - I newly discovered their skins, and am very pleased. The Zanzo sim also offers quite nice clothing shops.
Neither of these skinlines have all that much muscle definition, I think.

Clothing:
WMD - Weird Monkey Design - nice jeans and tees, maybe more? I only have jeans from there.
:FORM: - Nice jeans, "ordinary" and torn/dirty. Also some nice tops and accessories.
Civvies - Got good jeans from there. they and the surrounding shops at Plunder have much to my liking, worth checking out.
SF Design - formal, casual and costumes
Bare Rose - affordable yet good stuff with many color combinations. Some "ordinary" outfits inbetween the costumes, oddities and goth stuff.
M.R.M. Factory - nice jackets
GothiCatz - Nice sets.
Husky GFX - Roman, medieval etc. Nice kilts.

Shoes/boots:
J's (JB Gazov)
Jeepers creepers
Shiny Things
Bobbysocks
Exile (They have hair and clothing, and friggin awesome boots by Ju Weissnicht)

Hair:
Naughty
Discord designs
Deviant Kitties (Female face on the vendor doesn't mean it can't work on a guy)
The body Politik
Excess

I post that I am reporting a post because I want the poster and other readers to realise what he/she has done wrong. If LL believe that I should not do so then they will obviously inform me. Until they do, rather than respond to my posts, perhaps posters should concentrate on the issues raised in the forums and recognise when their behavior transgresses the ToS/Guidelines so that they can self-moderate it in furture. If posters remain PG, then I won't have cause to post.

You're an idiot.

AR that.

So who are you REALLY, Mr "I joined in May 2009 and know so much about the boards history and am am expert on TOS"...

Oh, and Cato's AR'd for saying Linden LabS over and over.

For a twit having a hard on for the TOS he doesn't even know the name of the company.

To the OP: Den-Dou have skins that aren't too sixpack-ish, and they have beautiful lighting and shading (seriously, you need to at least check out the demos; there's a shimmer to the collarbones and the backs of the knees that looks gorgeous). I found them in LeLook sim, but they probably have a mainstore by now. I took this screenshot of me in a pirate sim, wearing one of their skins (I always tend to go for guyliner skins, but they do non-made up ones, too) -

Male fashion blogs you can keep an eye on include:

http://www.slmen.com/ (updated daily)
http://slstyle.wordpress.com/ (less frequently updated)
http://shopwithtakeshi.blogspot.com/ (updated at least a couple of times a week)
http://kith.bomber-boys.com/ (updated fairly frequently)
http://irregularguy.wordpress.com/ (updated frequently)

Freebie blogs specifically for guys:

My efforts to return this forum to PG status seems to be working if your recent "flipping" postings are anything to go by!

Good God almighty.

My guess is this is some longer-term resident with some ax to grind. Maybe got AR'd for doing something non-PG himself.
