Ah nice thread.
Right now I'm thankful that I'm sat in a nice warm house with people I love in a very pretty place. Unlike those poor people in Bangladesh and, well, so many other parts of the world. Which makes me realise, when I sometimes turn SL on and moan becuase it's laggy or things are slow to rez, how bloody lucky I am to have those as problems. And speaking of SL, I am grateful to every one of the wonderful people I have met since being here. You kind, warm, friendly, helpful, generous and funny folks who keep me logging in. |

I'm thankful that two weeks ago I typed 'Second Life' into Google out of curiosity. Having spent many miserable months in RL, EVERYBODY I have met here has made me smile in one way or another. I regularly laugh out loud and feel genuinely touched by the time people are prepared to spend helping out. SL is slowly restoring my faith in RL. Beautifully said, Sandy. I completely relate. Happy GivingThanks. Avanti Torok |

Turkey Day has come and gone already here, not something we celebrated in our house (we had grilled cheese sandwiches and pickles!)
I am thankful for my family. My dad who's almost 80 yrs old and stays up all night having fun with his new MAC making "screen savers". My big brothers who trust me and make me laugh - they also wait to see movies like Beowulf until I can go with them. Hhhaha My nephew and nieces -Tweens- who MSN their aunt just to chat about "stuff" or play HALO. How cool is that! Also thankful for the country I live in and of course, my health. Thank you for starting this thread, I needed it this morning. It's raining slush where I am - it's cold and damp - but reading all your posts has made me warm inside ![]() _____________________

I'm thankful that just when I was about to give up on sl, two weeks into being a lonely newbie, you guys on the forum suggested that I visit the Cartel hangout. My timing was right and there was a great impromptu party! Thanks to all of you for being wonderful people.

Besides my rl friends and family...
Since I won't be able to be in world for a week, I am thankful for this forum.. a place that allows me to stay connected to sl even when sitting in a hotel room on the other side of the world. Moreover, I am thankful for the helpful and funny people here, you always brighten even my gloomiest days. I find myself thankful for the experiences I've had while in-world and the the people that shared them with me. I have felt things at a much deeper level than I thought possible. If that is something not to be thankful for, I don't know what would be... .d |

I am, first and foremost, thankful for my family, especially my husband and kids. I'm thankful that I may be getting older, but also seem to be getting wiser. I'm thankful that, although it stresses me at times, I have a job to go to everyday and a way to make money and help provide for my family.
I'm thankful, to, for these forums and all who post here. I've had questions answered with patience and generosity, which I value. "With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world" (from Desiderata) _____________________

During this holiday week, it's nice to take stock at what we're grateful for. When it comes to SL, pretty much the only thing that comes to mind these days for me are the friendships I've made in the last year and a half. So many friends come to mind. But I'm exceedingly lucky to have met Rosie Castro, whose tireless enthusiasm and hard work keep me and my residents happy and nurtured. And I'm very grateful to have Ava Glasgow as a friend and forum role model. If everyone was as helpful and kind as Ava, this forum would not need a ResMod to clean up the messes we make. Who or what warms your heart this holiday season? I am the lucky one, Raymond. It is my pleasure to work with such a good soul and to look after our residents. ![]() |

It ain't Thanksgiving in the UK, so it's probably nothing to do with me, but what I'm thankful for in SL is my wonderful partner.
And for the fact that next Thanksgiving, I expect to celebrate it, with her, in the US. |

Thank you Mr. Figtree, your 10,000 lindens will be waiting for you in a brown paper bag beneath the park bench. ![]() In addition to much cool RL stuff, I am thankful for SL in general for giving me fun things to do and nice people to meet. Specifically I am thankful for having a friend like Ray who helps keep my dark side in check, and for the many people here who generously share their knowledge. And for Ann's pictures, because she is delicious. ![]() |

I came to SL a few months after one of those horrible life events people sometimes never recover from. It's been almost 3 months now, and thanks to wonderful friends, I'm smiling and laughing again.... I will never recover, in that I'll never be the same person I was before, but I am starting to resume my RL again. I'm profoundly grateful that SL was here, to the wonderful people I've met, and to all the Forum posters who give me a smile and a laugh during the day.

I am thankful to have all of my friends, who bring joy to me every day, and who allow me to stay sane in the most trying of times. I am thankful for every noob in the SL world, who gives me a chance to help somebody, no strings attached. I am thankful for this world of SL, for everything and everyone it makes possible, and for LL for envisioning this idea and bringing it to us, the residents. _____________________

RL:
I'm thankful to still have my parents around, for their wit and wisdom and genes. For my brothers and sisters for being a constant reminder of how I can be a better person in so very many ways. For my neices and nephews inspiring me to take pleasure in the simpler things in life, as children do. For my every-day friends who've been there for me through thick and thin (mostly thin these days) and who always manage to get a smile out of me, no matter how down I get. For my friends who I lost on 9-11. I think of them and miss them every day, but always moreso when the holiday season approaches. And, for my cat, who always knows when I need a snuggle. ![]() SL: For my friends, who I (accidentally) found here after so many years after we left TSO. They're not just people who I laugh with, though that's most often the case. I've had need for a shoulder quite a bit and they've always been there for that, too. For my sweetheart, though we met in another virtual environment, has made the transition to SL to spend time with me in that world, too; and made it sweeter. And for all of you here on the forums (met in-world, or not) who've been a source of information, re-direction, inspiration, laughter and tears. |

I'm thankful that I stumbled across SL, and for all the warmth and welcoming I've met here, both in SL and in the forums. An unexpectedly wonderful thing, when all I was looking for was distraction from a very boring time in my RL!
I'm thankful for the streeeeetching that SL has given my mind. I'm thankful for my health, *crosses fingers*. And I'm thankful that the elusive Raymond started this thread! _____________________

Who or what warms your heart this holiday season? In RL, I'm thankful for my family, and my health, my newly-minted degree, and the new year rapidly approaching. And my cats. And my computer. In SL, I'm thankful for my friend both in-world and here in the forums, my little plot of land, and all the exciting new things I've learned this year. I am especially thankful for the opportunity to spend time with my husband when he can't be here by my side, one of the original reasons we both joined SL. Finally, I am thankful for missed opportunities: those openings, not taken, to deliver the perfect zinger. To tell someone what I REALLY think, knowing it will accomplish nothing. To say hurtful things in anger which I would come to regret. May I miss even more of them in the year to come. _____________________

Always good to see "thankful" lists...great idea Raymond
For SL, I am most thankful for the people that took the time to find me. I came in over a year ago to build, and didn't think too much more of the social aspects - but I've been blessed with people who refused to ignore a simple, painfully shy builder...they came and found me, loved me and cared for me - I only hope I can someday let them all know just how much they mean to me. These forums as well - I read them when I can, and never fail to find something to make me laugh...sometimes, embarassingly so...snorting out a stifled laugh in a crowded coffee house is kind of mortifying. For RL, I can never be thankful enough - I find myself blessed in ways I never even thought to ask for...if we ever get the chance to ask. Family, friends, love and health. A job to meet the needs of my family which allows me the freedom I desire. On and on and on and on... _____________________

Thanks for the 46 positive posts here so far. And to the one who was able to find something negative to say in a thread like this, I look forward to your performance as the Forum Scrooge come Christmas.

Who or what warms your heart this holiday season? I am thankful for many things but as far as SecondLife goes I am mostly thankful for the incredible friends I have made, as annoying as the glitches, lag and bugs can be, it has been more than worth it to have had the chance to meet some wonderful people. I also would like to join Raymond in mentioning how lucky we are to have Ava Glasgow in our midst. Even though we have never met in person she went above and beyond to help me obtain a new piece of land in an absolutely beautiful sim. I will not forget what she did for me. |
