From: anton Keynes personally i look with great disdain on beggers in the game ie. dancers , escorts . but its just an example of how people are willing to sell their soul for money . Then don't look at the dancers. And don't try to have sex with the escorts. If all people didn't - there would be no strippers and escorts, would there? The fact that there are ... must mean something.

People like "her" (if it was truely a female...which it probably was not) exist because suckers like you exist.

So, Colette - can I borrow 5000L? I want to invest it in this great bank I saw. I'll be rich! I'll gladly pay you back on Tuesday...
Seriously, Anton - you sound a little bitter and angry. Just relax a little and let life happen. It's Friday. If you don't like escorts or dancers, there is an awful lot to do in SL that has nothing to do with sex at all. Hook up (platonically) with some friends and go check out some cool places. You can do that for free. Build something. Attend some classes and learn something new. Don't dwell on stuff that gets you angry. It's not good for you. You'll end up with RL heart disease or something equally uncool.
There are lots of things in life that are far worse than anything that happened here. Look at the news and you will see stuff that tears your heart out. Getting uptight over some a-hole conning you out of $10 is just not worth it. If you don't learn how to not sweat the little things, then the big things will kill you.

Just be thankful it's SL, meeting someone in a red light district in RL, well, you'd probably have crabs now, and not the kind everyone keeps losing here.

Just an assumption on my part... it could very well really be a female scamming, but I'm certain alot of guys present themselves as females to 'flirt' with male avatars to scam them out of money. I know a guy who spent the first 2 or 3 months in SL doing exactly that.

Why go to any club, then? Granted not all clubs have dancers (mine doesn't) but most dancers function as hosts, to make people feel welcome in the club. That is their job. If you aren't made to feel welcome in an establishment, what is the point of being there?
Truth is, just about everyone wants money. Some demand it (shops), some expect it, some merely hope you'll show a bit of generosity to help offset their tier. If you don't want to interact with people who want your money, you need to stay at home.

It's up to the shopper to decide weather or not to spend their money there... AND I deliver the promised product when the sale is made. How dare you lump me in with a scammer. I hardly see the comparison.

Both probably see it as a game, don't consider themselves as actual petty thieves; which of course they are. ------------------- As far as knowing someone - That just means theres at least one person doing it (though of course it makes sense to suspect more) I know a woman who has played as a Male Av her entire SL life. Sorry, Johan...but you DO demand money, if the customer is to receive a product. Same with a dancer. You can come to the club, but the implied deal is, if you watch the dancers, and talk to them, you're supposed to tip them for their time. That's the product they're selling. And you weren't being lumped in with the scammers, but with the dancers and escorts who seem to be being tarred with the same brush, thanks to anton.

I don't think she was lumping in with a scammer - was lumping you in with Dancers and escorts , basically everyone is selling something - Content, a Smile, a little view, or cybersex. As a Shop owner you demand money in exchange for your merchandise. You don't demand it if they don't want merchandise. Thats different from the stripper who is initially nice, and showing quite a bit to people even though he/she has not actually gotten any money yet.

I know a woman who has played as a Male Av her entire SL life. And is someone's boyfriend in SL. Absolutely... let me put it to you this way.. The possiblity of doing that had crossed my mind when I first got into SL, but, I'm above that, and would never do something like that, but the thought had crossed my mind, and I'm sure plenty of guys out there have thought of the same thing, and a certain (probably low) percentage actually go forth with it. Curious... does the female know her 'boyfriend' is a female?

Mafia bosses 'demand' protection money, and if you don't pay, your business is blown up, or family killed. I demand nothing, I offer a product for sale, I demand nothing.

Can I wander into your store, touch an item and get it gratis? No? Okay, then you demand money for your products. I wasn't saying that you were forcing people to purchase your items.

From: Colette Meiji she didn't for the first couple months. ...the exact reason (well 1/2 of it) that I do not get involved with intimate relationships in SL. The other 1/2 is that I prefer 1st life relationships over 2nd. I guess because I need the physical connection as well as the mental one for me to be interested.

I demand nothing, I offer a product for sale, I demand nothing. I don't think "demand" is a bad thing in this sense. Maybe require would be the nicer term. A Hostest/Dancer/Stripper/Waitress doesn't demand money - they work for tips. thats the difference. In many cases some level of service is provided regardless of compensation.
